Back to work for me today!
Stacey - great pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Good morning all! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

My parents are here. My mom is already driving me crazy. Anyone else have that problem? I liked it better when my MIL was here.

Ang

Ang - How long will they be with you?

My sister just called, Emmy is sick and can I come over early today. Of course I will but I wonder what sickness I am going to catch! Before I retired I had rarely gotten sick, maybe just a sniffle or two. Since I started watching Nick and Emmy, I have had the flu (or something similiar) twice, really TERRIBLE colds and sore throat.

Is that an incentive for you to get out more, Angie? Well, I wouldn't have been able to take my mother staying with me for more than a couple of hours. Ditto for MIL. Luckily I don't have to worry about either one. I have a sick little boy at home again today. He came down with strep throat on Sunday, and I don't think he'll make it back to school until either Thursday or next Monday. He usually 'shares' his strep with me, so I'm thinking that it's just a matter of time for me to wake up with it. I'm wondering why DH never gets it!

That's why our younger DD stopped working at a daycare. She was getting sick constantly. Just give them lots of hugs, and then go wash your hands. It's not quite as obvious as wearinga surgical mask when you come over to watch them.:rotfl: DS hasn't noticed that I've been washing my hands more often after being around him all day, as if that's going to keep me from getting sick.

I'm sure I'm the exception to the rule on this one... 1 month from today, Mom (and Dad) gets here to spend 3 months with us!!   . I can't wait!!!!! The biggest reason that I didn't want to move to FL was my family... so now I've convinced them that winter in FL is MUCH better than winter in New England.

My parents will be here at least until the 21st. That's when I have my post-op appt. and will find out if I can drive. That's the week of Thanksgiving so I'd feel guilty not asking them to stay for Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong, they've been wonderful with the kids and have been cooking for us but my mom just drives me crazy sometimes. She treats my kids like she does when we're on vacation at their house. That's fine for vacation but not for when they need structure & discipline on a daily basis. MIL never tried to "help" with the kids. That just made our lives easier.

I can relate to you getting sick. Before I had kids, I'd pick up anything and everything from co-workers that had kids. They were immune but I wasn't!

Kiki, I envy you with that kind of relationship with your mom.

Ang

Sandi,

Hope your DS feels better soon. Hope you don't get it. I've never picked up strep from the girls. One dr. said that it's unusual for an adult to get strep. You drs. & nurses ... is that true?

Didn't sleep with the heat on last night but turned it on this a.m. to get the chill out of the house. We started smelling an electrical smell so turned it off. Now nothing will come on - not even the a/c. Put a call in to the heating & air folks that we used last year. Hopefully they can come out in the next few days. Temps are supposed to drop again at the end of the week. We have space heaters in the girls room so we should be fine for a while. Bruce & I will just have to bundle up in lots of blankies. My parents are in the bonus room & it's on it's own unit.

Hope everything is o.k. with the furnace....we were spoiled with cool temps for the last few weeks and now the air is back on it's in the upper 80s and humid. About the only season I miss from the midwest is the fall - so, air conditioning in November is still tough for me...not, to mention paying the electric bill... :faint:

We're at the time of the year that it's heat in the early a.m. hours, nothing during the late morning, then back to the a/c in the late afternoon. CRAZY!!!

Leave it to you......LOL MAYBE he was wearing the lampshade?? tee hee hee
Yeah, that's Jay. After I took the picture, he said "You could have warned me, I would have moved". :confused3

I think I could live on St Barth. If I could afford it. It is, so far, the cleanest island I've ever been on. They've kept the construction down, so there is a lot of space between houses, the streets are narrow and uncrowded, the people were friendly, and the beauty....it took my breath away. The pics aren't all that great because our driver didn't want to stop and let us out. Narrow roads, and he was afraid we'd get hit. So they were almost all taken with me hanging out the taxi window!

That's funny, you go on a Princess Cruise and there's Finding Nemo. Did that make you feel at home?

"Nemo" was the first movie they showed. I took that picture right after we unpacked, and before the lifeboat drill...which, by the way, they dont make you wear the life jacket down to the muster station. You just have to follow the demonstration they have once you're there and put it on for a minute. Anyway, they played a lot of Disney movies during the day for the kids.
And...the only piece of art work that I bid on at the auction was a cel of Pinnochio and Jiminy Cricket. Later, they had one of Dumbo, but I missed the auction that day. I also have a picture (35mm) of a carved watermelon on Princess Cays ....it's a very crude Mickey Mouse! I'll have to scan that one. Jay wanted to know why I was taking more pics of watermelons...then he saw "who" it was....::MickeyMo

Believe me, I know how rare it is, and treasure every minute of it... it really helps that she is as crazy as I am... we get along perfectly! (This nut didn't fall too far from the tree...)
