Good Morning All - My dial up has been VERY SLOOOOW!

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Wednesday!

Stacey - so is Jay going to go with you on the cruise? I know you said where it was going before and what ship but can you tell us again. Sounds like a fun last minute trip!

Bottom line - you won't go nuts in a small inside room? Why? Because you already are nuts? ;)

Hey all, we made it back from Carlsbad Caverns. We all had a good time and took lots of pictures with Scoopie. we went to the bat flight at dusk on Sunday night and it was incredible. approximately 400,000 bats came out of the cave. Monday morning we hiked all the way down the cave. It truly is an incredible place. Haven't had a chance to look through the photos yet, and not sure when. This is an incredibly busy week and we have a huge swim meet here this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
It's kind of funny. I have lived in NM all my life (with the exception of Navy stations and vacations and what not). I have never been to Carlsbad Caverns. :confused3 We have threatened several times to make it down there, but it hasn't happened yet.

Maybe this will get us off our butts and get down there. Sounds interesting!

We enjoyed our trip to Carlsbad - I'll have to dig out the photo album and be ready to compare with yours....Glad you enjoyed the trip! :wave2:

Kiki...I LIKE your thinking! Margaritas!!

Taking showers in there and sleeping in there are no biggie....I just wonder if I would have trouble if I couldn't get some air...or even see the light of day....I won't know until I try. I need to face that.......

Diana, I don't know if I could upgrade or not. I e-mailed my TA to ask her if she knows...she does those things all the time.
I just looked at this cruise online....except for the Royal Family Suites, it looks like they have a ton of rooms available. And the prices are not at all expensive. When there's a promotion like this, I have a feeling they wouldn't let you use the cost of the original room to upgrade....if I were the gambling type  I'd bet my last dollar on it. But the rooms that overlook the promenade sure look cool...just like any hotel room, with a window looking at the mall. That might be as close to heaven as I could ever get. On a ship, looking at a mall, the ocean just outside......:cloud9:

My 2 cents worth - it never hurts to ask about the upgrade, even as late as you board. All they can say is $$$$ or no or - hey - ok.....If sleeping is no biggie, then you can plan on not being in the room for long - you know - side trips - in and out.....If you need to sleep with a "window" open because if sea-sickness - different issue. Good Luck thinking.... :wave2:

That's the site that I always use. I like checking out the computer models, advisories, etc.

Looks like Dennis is tracking further west than originally anticipated... which is good for those of us who had one (or 3) hurricane too many last year...

Computer models are beginning to diverge - two to the east and three to the west - It looks as if the folks who got Cindy may get a double whammy - I hope not. Isn't this where I post my "disapparates" comment. I'd love for Dennis to blow himself out - and then go rain on Stacey....Now how much pixie dust would that take? :wizard:

Wow! That's a big change since this morning.

Irene, three to the West? I'm only seeing Dora in the West. Poor Cayman Islands, there's not going to be anything green left there pretty soon. It's good that FL is clear so far!

I was kind of surprised when Charley snuck up on us in early August last year. I really thought hurricanes were more a Sept-Oct problem. Now Dennis in early July. Isn't this unusual?

I think she meant 3 models showing it heading west... not three storms.

Yes, last night on the news, they said this this was VERY early to already have 4 named storms.

(One of my co-workers left Friday on a cruise to Cozumel, etc... I'll be interested to hear how his trip was...)

DH and I made it rain here on Monday evening. We went camping somewhere other than our backyard for the first time in about 4 years. That's a surefire way for it to rain wherever we are. But we knew that it was really needed, so we didn't mind. :wizard: to everyone that is in the path of the TSs.

Heading to the office this morning for a quick meeting with our employees. Jay wants to see if they think they can handle us being gone again. Very decent of him, actually...but he IS the boss...that should have earned him extra vacations. But it is nice to ask. Will let you know what he says.

I just really only need a window....something to prove to me that there is a world out there. Jay said I am never in the room, anyway, so he wondered why it mattered. He's right....I am always running around the ship.

The cruise is Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas...out of Miami...August 14-21...going to Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Grand Cayman.
And I don't want to hear about hurricanes.

ScubaMom - You had asked about non-diving stuff in Couzemel. I have a friend who dives there and she has provided the following - if you don't wish to remain on board. So, for what it is worth she says:

"Actually, my best day there was just renting a jeep and driving around the island. It wasn’t a really long drive and you could stop at all kinds of neat little beaches and cabana type places. You get a real local feel that way and you get away from the Senor Frogs/Carlos and Charlies crowd."

Not 3 hurricanes, three hurricane models for one storm - Dennis.

Having grown up with this, and worked in the area, I will elucidate....

To assist with the prediction of the path of the storm, weather forcasters rely on computer models which are run at different times and evaluate factors, wind sheer, water temperature, location of highs, lows etc. These models are not identical, and their results can vary widely. They produce different paths, some of which may even be moving the storm in totallay opposite directions. For example, in Francis, I think, one model turned 90 degrees to the south over Cuba, with the others going north....This is one reason there is no single line for a hurricane and instead there is a "cone".

So, there is a link in weather underground site that shows the various computer models. (They have names line BAMM, UKMET, SHIPS etc). There are actually over 70 that were posted last year for free....when they are all overlain, it looks like spaghetti. The site uses the more popilat ones.

Anyway, the present 5 models show 2 hits on the Fla. panhandle and 3 tracks toward LA. Here you go, if you want to check and see what I am babbling about. http://www.weatherunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200504_model.html

:teacher: science lesson over. Let's hope all models are wrong and this turns into a puffball.... :umbrella:
