I'll give KikiKaren a plug as well, 'cause we know how she is about "spelling"

I TOLD you... as long as they aren't MY spelling errors or those of my employees, they don't bother me (no where's that foot-stomping smiley?)... it was just that Kevin's was in his siggy... I could only ignore it for so many posts...

I'm too lazy to go back and cite the original post...

Christopher was trying to remember our new zip code when we moved here... so Ray tells him, remember the drivers numbers: Earnhardt Sr., Rusty Wallace, Ryan Newman, Earnhardt, Jr.

So when you ask him what our zip code is, he tells you, "Senior, Rusty, Newman, Jr." Guess that's the mark of a TRUE NASCAR fan! (Mary understood it perfectly!)

3 - Dale Earnhardt

2 - Rusty Wallace

12 - Ryan Newman

8 - Dale EArnhardt Jr.

Nope - cannot find a foot stomp smilie - found out that fantasy football wants one, but other than that - no luck. Was a wee bit nervous about the german smilie site. Maybe Kevin has one from his scuba board site??? :3dglasses

I just remember what color Earnhardt's care is - RED, the same as Dale's nose.... :cool1:

Actually, his car is black... Dale Jr's is red... Christopher would be VERY quick to correct you...

I thought I had to chime in again but don't want to start a debate. Each family has a different situation that they are comfortable with. For us, vacations mean vacation with our children. There is also something about seeing thing through a childs eyes that is just priceless & bring such happiness to my heart!

Angie

I agree it all depends on your expectations. We didn't start crusing with the kids until DCL came along. At that point the kids were 5 & 9. We had a great time. On the other hand, Matt & I went to Disneyland when Jim had business nearby. Matt was 2 years old (barely). I heard a number of comments from people while I was in line about bringing too young a child to Disneyland. I could not have cared less. He was very well behaved and we were having a great time. I work full time and Matt was in Day Care a lot of time back then. On our vacation, I enjoyed nothing more than spending the day catering to my 2 year old's wishes. We went to the park in the morning, swam and napped in the afternoon, and meet Jim for dinner each evening. We had an excellent time. I was 31 when Matt was born, so we had already traveled and done quite a bit before he joined our family. In the end, your vacation is just that - YOUR VACATION. Enjoy it in however makes you and your family happy.

Matt grabbed post #10000 from a hotel lobby in Costa Rica.

Matt and Jim are enjoying some male bonding time in Costa Rica. Zip lining, repelling down waterfalls, fun stuff like that. :)

Sharon is looking for a girls bonding activity for her and little Lisa.

Stacey's evil twin LISA showed up. LISA is who gets blamed whenever Stacey acts up a bit. :) Amanda borrowed LISA when she left her brother's house early over the weekend. We have all agreed that LISA is the evil one while Lisa is little gymnest (don't want to give little Lisa a complex).

Stacey was having computer problems showing her pictures on disk.

Sue got her pictures on CD from the Alaskan cruise but can't find pictures of Scoopie - her niece is going to look at the pictures downloaded again.

Karen, Mike, KT and Nick are off to camp. Karen is going to teach scrapbooking to ALL the girls in camp - not just her cabin. She is asking for prayers.

Virigl is having computer connection problems so hasn't been on as much.

Disney Fans is fairly new and joining in the discussions.

Scoopie is with BWVPam and going to Carlsbad's Caverns.

Everyone else is pretty much posting per the norm.

Hope I didn't leave anything out. If I did I'm sure someone else will fill in.
nicely done Mary!Bravo!

Exactly! I'm glad they don't have a casino onboard the Disney ships, too. I have a split personality...the Vegas (think LISA) side and the Disney side.....and ne'er the two shall mix!
Wow! me too! cept in my case it is the wdw side and the Biloxi side....

Interesting approach! What ever works for him. :rotfl2:

I could change my current picture to read "Queen Angle fish" if it will help......

From the looks of their family makeup, they've had enough time alone to last them for awhile...
HEY! Me, my 4 kids and my DH resemble that remark!;)

Well, for starters, the typical 80 something cruisers avoid DCL like the plague. You will see some older folks, but they are usually extended family members, and have their own little kids along. The adult couples that choose to cruise DCL know very well where the adults only areas are! DCL is pretty good about separating the groups at dinner too. There is one rotation known as the "highchair" rotation. Your friend would be in that group, and would likely be seated at a table with a similar family.

If you're a good friend, I'd also urge them not to cruise until the younger one is 3 and potty trained. I know people do it all the time, but untrained babies can't go to the Club, and they can't swim in the pools. There isn't a lot for them to do, and the nursery charges something like $8 an hour? Mom would be the on board entertainment for the little one, just like at home.

Amanda will no doubt have a different opinion on the above, but that's mine. We didn't even go to WDW until our DD was 8 and didn't need naps or strollers!
It all depends on what you looking to get out of your vacation.....If going to WDW or on DCL is a once in a lifetime thing, than yes I agree with Diana's advice.......However, for our family, it is not a once in a lifetime event, and we are just so darned happy to have a week together as a family without having to worry about school and work, and the minutae inbetween....but I am no fool. We cruised in Oct 03 when Nate was only 6 months old, and I knew it would be very tough dealing with formula and what not, we left him with my MIL. He came with us in Nov 04 and he had a blast! One of the mickey ears in the mickey pool is open for babies and he loved that......We actually had late seating for dinner and the kids did extremly well...and I think you are only allowed to sign up for Flounders 2 times upon boarding, but we only used it once for Palo night. BUT, and this is a big but. we had taken a cruise only 2 months prior (4 day Wonder) where it was just DH and I, and we did ALL the adult only activities that we knew we would not be able to do in Nov. IE Palo, Spa, Serenity Bay, Adult only pool........that definitely helped......

We are taking my granddaughter on the cruise. She will turn 6 right after we get back. We waited until she was potty trained to take her on the cruise. Misti and I took a 3 day cruise in Sept '03 with out her to "test" the waters. We loved it, so booked a 4 night the following Sept for her. The first cruise we were at a table with 3 couples. The 2nd cruise we had the "high chair" rotation. We were at the table with another family that had 2 children, (about 3 &5) if I'm not mistaken. This last cruise, we were seated with an extended family of 4. The child was about 8-9. This was May 05. Our next cruise is in August, when we Bring the Magic Home. She will be with us on this cruise also. She is forever asking us when she gets to go back on the boat with the bedrooms.

On the other hand, we started taking Dom to WDW when she was 15 months old. She loved it then and still loves it. Our next trip is next week, actually. She has always been a fairly easy going child. We just have to make sure we take her "princess" dresses with us.
Oh Patty! You hush up always rubbing our noses in that repo cruise!;) Patty and I sailed together on that Sept Wonder I wrote about above, but we never met up.....:flower:

I knew I'd catch heck from you for that remark... but if they have a toddler and 3 infants, they've definitely had enough 'alone-time' in the past few years, ya think? :confused3

Every time we go "home", a guy at work asks if we'll be hitting the casinos. We never do. We're just not big gamblers. We lived in Henderson, NV (Vegas suburb) for a while. We'd hit the casinos every weekend for entertainment but still rarely gambled. I just can't part with my money!
