On a different note tonight. Today is an example of why we live for cruises and spending time with our families and not waiting for tomorrow.

Tomorrow afternoon I fly to Rochester, NY to attend the funeral of a 30 year old "kid". He died of cancer on Sunday morning leaving his wife and parents. I lived with him and his family for three years while I was going to college. He was only 4 years old at the time. I took him to soccer games and went to his school plays. Now he is dead.

He wss to be the best man at the wedding we are attending in April in Baltimore.

Life is short....skip often.....cruise frequently...dive at every opportunity....and enjoy your kids even when they are driving you up the wall (which happened last night at our house. After we got the call we hugged them all in bed).

I just checked the weather. It's 3 degrees in Rochester, NY tomorrow. I guess I'll have to pack my winter coat.

Scuba Diver - I know how you feel, or maybe not, but I live the words you are saying. We lost a dear friend 2 years ago to a construction accident. He was 40 years old, my husband's age, and left a wonderful wife and two young boys behind. No notice or anything. Can you imagine kissing your husband goodbye in the morning and never talking to him again? What a feeling!!! I have a saying now that I live by - Carpe Diem - seize the day. My license plate says "nvr wait" cause tomorrow never comes. I'm not talking about living like you're out of control, but don't put off things that you don't really need to. My friends/neighbors laugh at me because I never pass up a chance to go out or see old friends. Just like you said, cruise, vacation, enjoy the little things in life. I know that sounds corney, but until you have something terrible like this happen to your inner circle of life, you just can't fully understand it.

I'm sorry for your loss. 30 is WAY too young to leave this world. I know you're not supposed to question GOD, but how can you not in a case like this. We all just have to take the blessings that we have and thank God for the good things in life. Have a safe trip. You're coming up to my neck of the woods now. Hope it's not too cold for ya. My thoughts and prayers are with you and that boys' family.

For those of you who were not on the 12/18 cruise - now you see what made the cruise so special. It was spending 18 months sharing and getting to know each other. Celebrating happy things and supporting each other when times aren't so happy.

To me that's what makes the difference between a good cruise (which DCL always is to me) and a great cruise!

I was thrilled to have many of the 12/18 cruisers on this cruise as well but equally excited to meet so many new people and share things with them as well.

Jim, so sorry to hear about your family friend, what a tough trip to make.

I think you're preaching to the choir here. Haven't we all made family time and vacations a priority in our lives? I think we do all have that in common. We were a bit slow, and didn't get started until DD was 8, but we've made up for lost time! This year, we're going to share our "philosophy" with other family members, by bribing them to join us with the promise of a free room. And more, in DSS's case. I hope they "get it".

Amanda, that's a plan! We should also meet up with you guys mid-day on May 29 (Sunday). Maybe lunch or something in a park. I should have my family back by then, and our guests arrive later that day. My DD enjoys younger kids, and they usually love her.

Actually, surprisingly, I watched some of it on the monitor from the consultation room (it was either that or Dr. Phil playing in the waiting room) The doctor is very pleased with how it went from a surgical standpoint. Now it's just a matter of time to see how well it works. Now he's doped up on Darvocet, eye patch on, resting on the couch.

There's a lot to be said for a short commute... we've had both long and short in our house, and its always easier with quick ride home. Right now, it is ME with the longer ride- but I love my 1/2 hour of peace and quiet in the AM!!!!!

Hi all,Sorry to hear about your friend Jim, that is so tragic. Glad Mike's surgery went well.

Diana, I have done WDW alone and loved it. Last March I went to a conference and stayed at the Royal Pacific. I had a car and after my husband left, I drove over to Disney almost every day. Two nights I even stayed in the park late to watch fireworks at MK and Epcot and then drove back over to Universal. It seemed strange being there alone, but I met a real nice couple in the bar area at the Rose and Crown who let me sit with them while I ate dinner and had a drink. I missed having everyone around me, but then I did get to do what I wanted at my own pace.

Wish it was me going this May. Just have to count the days to December.
