Toyota just called. Radio hasn't come in yet. The supplier overnighted it yesterday, but it's not in yet, they expect it tomorrow.

So I got Mike a free oil change and tire rotation out of it! ;)

wow. i'm coming to your house on my next vacation. i have 98% of the cooking, 98% of the laundry and 75% of the cleaning.

and no palm trees and warm breezes, just deciduous trees that lose leaves for 6 months a year and muck and slush.

Guess I'd better come up with something real nice to say about my DH then, too.... huh?

I don't think I could do an Alaskan cruise... I never want to see a large chunk of ice and snow for as long as I live... there's a reason I moved to FL!!!!

Besides, my idea of a cruise will always be palm trees, sandy beaches, WARM breezes on the deck... even though I have those things every day now. (I expect them even MORE on vacation!!!).
That's funny! Jim and I were talking about going up three or four days earlier and going diving. Then meeting the girls for a cruise.

See, everybody gets something! :wizard:

You actually want to DIVE in Alaskan waters... :cold: You'd better have a darn good wetsuit... even in the 'summer' (and I use that term loosely)!

No!!! Drysuit!!! Only way to fly in waters under 68° or so!! The waters up there should be in the lower 50°s or so!!

You be surprised at what underwater creatures thrive in those temps! Great Pacific Octopus and lots others!!

ummm.....(saying sheepishly) i looked in my closet and i have about 7 containers of DCL Minnie lotion, 7 DCL Daisy shampoo and a DCL bar of bath soap.

And maybe 50 various and sundry personaly hygeine products from WDW itself.

So, a couple of theories here....either we go to DCL and WDW WAAAAAY too often, or we don't use NEARLY enough personal hygeine items around this house.

I, personally, refuse to believe either of those things!

Ummmmmmmmm................

it shocks you. :(

No, seriously, Kevin. Here's how it works. They have programmed into it the top 5 or so things that draw the most power (off the top of my head I believe it includes baseboard heat in the playroom x 2, dryer heating element, heat pump, and hot water tank) We set the kW demand (right now we have it set at 7) When the kW demand gets to 7, the load demand meter starts shutting things off in order to keep the level below 7. Those things will not turn on again unless the kW being used drop below 7 and it won't turn on unless it would KEEP the kW below 7.

The demand meter turns on at 8am and turns off at 9pm weekdays. Peak energy hours. It's off all weekend and several holidays. Then, somehow they figure out bill out to save us money...I always get it confused...something like they charge us based on our peak rate for ALL of our electricity use. So, looking at an old electric bill....it says my onpeak load was 7.03, my offpeak load was 15.84, and my BILLED load was 7.03.

I know it's not common. When we moved in and I had questions about the demand meter I called the electric company and explained that we were on the "residential optional time of day plan." And she snickered and said "honey NOBODY is on that plan anymore....it doesn't exist!" Then she took my information and had to eat crow b/c we ARE still on the plan (grandfathered in) and she told me "don't EVER EVER drop this plan because you CANNOT get it back and it's saving you a ton of money!"

Hope that makes sense! :)

I bite-a thigh. "IBT" it was basically a mockery of the greek system.

Why would a group of friends mock the greek system? i'm only guessing here, but probably because they were all too nerdy to get into the ACTUAL greek system and so they compensated by creating their own.

Now, hypothetically, they had rush and had Christmas parties, and even went out one night and hung signs all over campus promoting their "fraternity." But that, of course, is ALLLLL hypothetical!

Doubt it. But Holland America will be there.

Not sure that would be a good one for the kids. This will require some research. Doesn't Princess cruise to Alaska? Still to be determined, is there good scuba diving in Alaska? In July/August?

You'll be happy to know that I thought of you immediately when I opened my $200 electric bill yesterday.

And by "kids" as far as HAL is concerned, you mean anyone NOT eligible for AARP.

Ray was president of a co-ed fraternity when I met him... I was a pledge... and the rest is history.

I love this group. All you have to do is mention a future cruise, and everyone says "count me in"! Even if Alaska isn't that great, our curiousity will be quenched, we will have "done that", and had a great time with friends while doing it.

So, where should we go in 2008? Anyone have a big anniversary then? :rotfl:

And if the DIS boards kick us off for cruising on another line, there's always the Cruise Critic boards. They wouldn't know what hit them over there.

We could also keep this thread going. As long as there's posting, I don't think they delete them. The Christmas cruise thread is still around here somewhere.

My parents' 50th... we are planning NY to Bermuda- 7 days... it was always our 'family vacation' when we were kids.... wanna go??

Kiki, that is a MAJOR one! Tell you what. Call your parents, tell them a bunch of internet people you haven't met want to be in on their anniversary cruise, and see what they say. Should be fun!

We could also use the Yahoo group Karen created when the DIS was going to be down for over a weekend. :)

They would love it! Wish I could convince them to do DCL with us next May... I tried, but didn't succeed. (Mom says 'too many kids') My parents are the 'youngest' 68 & 73 year-olds you'll ever meet.

Let's see... we could probably get some good group rates!!! We are already looking at about 10 cabins for my family...

I had almost forgotten about that.... Of course if we had told about it when we had started on this thread..... We would've really be called crazy.....
