Just got back from Stonewoods and it was much better than any Happy Meal.

Mike and Joan joined us. Matt was the DD so he drove over and back. It was fun watching him pay for dinner. He used my credit card, of course, but at least he put on the tip and signed. Since Sharon pays the bills it works for me.

Now I just need to go out and buy my birthday presents.

He makes his life sound so much worse than it is. Yes, he has to pick out his birthday present. But that is because it is a racing bike and it needs to be fit to him. If he wants me to purchase something, only to have me purchase the wrong one, I guess I can do that.:confused3

I've always been a Great Aunt :lmao:

But it became official almost 2 years ago when my niece had Cody. She also did it the "non-traditional" way---baby first then marriage.

But, like you, we couldn't imagine our lives without this little one:

Awwww....he's too pretty to be a boy!! What a doll face!

I say that I was always a good Aunt....and it's been proven that I'm actually a GREAT Aunt! Two great nephews and two great nieces.

We know how he is.....you didn't have to explain. We just ignore him. ;)

The question is, do you have one of THESE? I know where you can get them!!!!

Round20short.jpg

Nope :cool1: The kids would love them! You wouldn't happen to know where I can mail order? ;) Do I have to pick them up in person? If so, it'll have to wait until it's much, much warmer in Ohio...

I happen to know that you can order them directly through the website. I recommend the round (it seals better) and we prefer the short handles only b/c we have short arms and it's harder to maneuver the longer handles (YMMV) Of course, shorter handles mean you have to get closer to the fire! :scared1:

We use these ALL the time. Since my dad owns the company, I've had them my whole life! :) We make them now in the backyard about once a week during the spring/summer/fall. Easy to make, easy clean up, and everyone can get the kind they want! :)

My dad is working on a big ol' order now that's going to England. The guy wants to be a dealer over there! :)

Mary, I am so glad you both enjoyed the tour...Although, you missed reporting on the very important piece of cheesy, non-historical pop culture memorabilia that is in their museum...The Jeep that Ben Aflack used in the movie Pearl Harbor...:lmao: I have a picture of my girlfriend and I sitting where he sat...:thumbsup2

For everyone else, if Mary hasn't convinced you to put it on your "must do" list - As their guide probably explained on the tour - they are the only tour guides who are actually allowed on the Arizona. And just his tips and recommendations of how to get the most out of the memorial is well worth the admission...Where to sit on the boat ride, when to do the PH museum and in this case, recognizing and stressing the priority of talking to a survivor. Plus, getting into one of the first two waves out onto the memorial is also worth the admission and getting up early - tickets are usually gone by 10am...

My step-uncle who just died last year, served on the Oklahoma. Even though he was very pleased and touched we visited PH - he never would talk to my dad about his experiences. So, talking to a vet is definitely priceless.

It's a company who's advertising spread mostly through word of mouth by military veterans - which is how we discovered the tour through a military vet. On another side note - the guide is also dressed in a WWII era uniform.

When Maggie mentioned camping - the pie molds were one of my 1st thoughts after whining about sleeping on the ground (I do remember some of our conversations in our almost 55,000 posts) ...I just hadn't checked the website yet so, I'm glad to know they can be mail-ordered. How are the wiener molds?

Happy Belated Birthday to Jim and Kiki! If Kiki is 50, Jim must be about 60, right? Holding up pretty well, old man.

If we ever get back to Hawaii, that tour will be on the list. Sounds fascinating.

Sharon, I know how it is. Kevin sends me a link these days, for the latest scuba or photography equipment he wants. I still like surprises though.

I'm a step-grandma, does that count?

We're not big weiner eaters here, but they are good. We tried out something cool last time we used them. Instead of putting the weiners in bread, we greased up the pie mold, 1/2 filled it with jiffy corn bread mix (mixed up, of course) then pressed the weiner in.

BAM....corn dogs. :)

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Some days when he's out running in my neighborhood, he looks like he's 60... toddlers on tricycles leave him in the dust! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Sarcasm... the birthday gift that keeps on giving...

At least I did not tell everyone that part of my gift was that you slept in the other bedroom because your snoring would have kept me awake. I got a full nights sleep!!

Good Morning All.....Yipppeeee the Morning Top with EVERYBODY!!!!!

Good Morning new Great Aunty Kiki.. Mary's gonna put you on the magic list when she returns....

And hello to all the other great Aunts out there. Cody is a real cutie - is that a CARS t-Shirt he is wering OM?

Thanks for posting all the Great Aunty stories....

Thanks for posting the highlights of your trip Mary. You were blessed by your opportunity to talk with a survivor....and your trip reports are the best. Are you keeping a journal?

Monica - Campfires, another good reason to camp. Which reminds me, it's time for another patio fire, but without griddles. How about the one that makes popcorn, anyone use that? You don't need a spa when camping....just a pot of hot water...:rotfl:

Hey Jim - did you pick out your trike yet?????

Morning Diana -Stace - Sharon - GaRRy and everyone else who has posted since I last said HI! Have a great Day...
