Before I asked that question, I sat here trying to remember if it was MADDIE or MADDY. Too lazy to go back and look. I had a 50/50 chance.....oh well. Guess I better not buy a lottery ticket!

That's alright. I actually typed it how *I* thought it would be. I'm not sure how my parents are spelling it. Considering they had a dog named Cyndi, ya never know (short for Hyacinth vonWaldsee)

I also must consider one of my dad's favorite sayings: An ignorant man can only spell a word one way.

OK, this is just weird. I was at Target this morning -- the Back to School section is up and running. There were CROWDS everywhere!! I thought maybe they were giving stuff away!! School doesn't start here until August 14th, but it looked like that 1st night after Open House when we've all received the *latest, updated* supplies list and everyone ends up at Target desperately trying to find the items!!

Thanks for posting the pictures and the report, Jim. Looks like mucho fun. I'd be interested in the name of the tour company too. Do they have a web site?

Maybe the parents shopping at Target this early can't wait to send their kids back to school? Buying supplies means it's almost time!

REALLY cool trip report and pictures. I've wanted go to go Alaska for several years now. Of course, I want to go during Iditarod time (early March) so that would leave out a lot of the things you guys did! Hmmmm.

Very cool you met Bill Hall. Did he tell you about running the Iditarod?

What company did you go through. Something like that would make it easy to plan....let them do all of the work.

Bill Hall talked all about the Iditarod. He won it one year and has ran it for many years. It was really interesting on how they handled the logistics. Pilots flying food and supplies in, feeding the dogs, feeding himself, the gear, etc.

Our guide was at the start of the Iditarod this year. They have a cermonial start in Anchorage for the cameras. Then they have the office start the next day in a town furthur north. They have to bring in snow for the cermonial start.

The tour company was Tauck Tours.

Matt has not been home for a single weekend since school got out so we are looking forward to having him around the house.

Lisa is at the gym 5 nights a week so she is gone all the time.

In fact, I'm kind of sad because I only have 2 more nights "home alone". How quickly it has gone.

We definitely understand - you have special circumstances for sure. I know I miss my kids like crazy when they are gone. (mine just weren't gone at all this summer!!)

I enjoyed my second to last night of freedom. I went to Stonewoods for dinner and got a date for tomorrow night! I'll have to check with Sharon to see if I can go out on a date tomorrow nigth!

Good Morning All.......back from this weekd's raod trip.....


Memo to Self: never leave home without a book again!

Hotel did not have wireless internet - thoght I would spend the night on-line - nope....70+ cable channels, nothing to watch - oh well, an early night.

Made it home las tnight in time to go over and wish Mother a happy 86 Birthday. Her celebratin is postponed for 2 weeks at her request.....so cook-out planned for weekend next.

We have tax free days on school supplies and clothes....I am staying away form Target and all such stores....

Good morning all!! I'll get a report together in the next day or so. Diana was right, trip was great!! Fun to see whales breaching, just wished we could have been diving with them too.

Sorry for the plumbing problems had. I can't believe Stacey can't imagine Jim under the sink........
