Tonight is when I really miss the franick posting we had in the old days.

I'm sitting at BoneFish Grill killing time. Sharon is at the Contemporay for a conference so I was selected to bring Lisa to the gym. I'm sitting here with the lap top posting away.

Since I don't want to chat with myself I'll have to move to other websites :guilty:

And then to Costcos!! :cool1:

Don't know if anyone here has HIGH SPEED INTERNET and the BOYA AOL plan.....

but this was on the community board and the budget board and I just called AOL and saved myself $14.95 a month!!!!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1175789&page=1&pp=15

Thanks, Ohminnie! I need to save all that I can. I went out this morning to take the yukon to get its new tires and it wouldn't start. Dead battery. Got it jumped, and took it in. I had them check the rear brakes that the dealership said it needed, and it did. So....$1100 later....new battery, new tires, new rear brakes. Darn near a NEW CAR! What a day. But I got an awful lot of work done while I was waiting for it. One of our employees picked me up from the car place and took me to work.
When the battery died on the car, it locked up the anti-theft device on the stereo. I had to try to remember the code to unlock it. Thanks goodness I used the same "code" that I use for almost all of my passwords!
And the little car (Equinox) was a quart low on oil, so I just came in from doing that. I don't dare ask "What next" or I'll end up with a day or two like Sherry's!

SORRY SHERRY!!! Hang in there!!

Hey OM,

As our resident "do-over" still-certified-lifeguard and former YMCA Aquatic Director  - Tell Mike :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

Although, I'd like to add to his excellent advice....A telephone poolside in the event of an emergency (which I assume he meant when he wrote "nearby" - (also lessens the likely hood of running inside for "just a minute" to answer it...) and a first aid kit should also be poolside.

Swim vests, swimmies, are not a subsitute for supervision (which he said) and neither should a competent swimmer be left alone...Always swim with supervision - adults included...

The American Red Cross and the YMCA of the USA do offer community water safety courses designed for backyard pool and open water enthusiasts - which I would also recommend in addition to CPR

Bravo!!!

ETA: The "within arm's reach" rule shoud also apply if swimmies or swim vests are being used...Usually with the adult in the water accompanying the child...

Now off to read his other article... :wave2:

OK - just read the other article nothing too controversial this time - playing it safe???!!!! :rotfl2: - haven't seen #2 yet - just finished watching #1 tonight with the kids - they hadn't seen it yet - some movies are always better to introduce small screen. Maggie was a bit apprehensive - but, enjoyed it - once she realized that Jack Sparrow and Willie Wonka were one in the same actor. I think it also helped a pre-teen she visited on Sunday had Jack Sparrow posters as her main decor... :rotfl2:

I'm planning a movie afternoon once school is back in session for POTC 2...

Although, I still side with the greater anticipation of the original Star Wars #1, #2, and #3 (or should I say #4, #5, #6...)

Galle Family update from their former church..

Elizabeth, 7, is released from the hospital and staying with friends.

Stephanie, 11, has had the shunt in her skull removed,, and is in and out of consciousness as she is still being sedated-she wants to remove the IV tubes, etc. She spoke briefly to a family friend, and she was able to give a “thumbs up” to a doctor.

Mom, Catherine, had a bad night last night and was limiting visiting to an hour at a time, as she needs rest and is trying to clear congestion in her lungs. She is though getting better, and alert, although badly bruised.

Thankfully, their physical wounds are healing...Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers...

On a lighter topic...

When are you to old to have a zit???? :rotfl2:

I'm 39 and I I have a huge zit on the side of my face - yes, tomorrow is Friday, but it's not like I have a date - yet another night sitting at home, watching TV and cleaning my room - nothing much has changed since high school ... :lmao:

Hey there! I just SKYPE'd Mike and read him your posts. He thought it was great feedback!! :) And he thanks you for posting it. :)

Funny thing....he was reading the article to the kids and they were like "we don't have that.....we don't do that.....we don't have that...." Our house opens to the pool, we don't have a fence JUST around the pool, I do run in and grab laundry sometimes to bring it out and fold it......YIKES!!! :earseek:

but, hey....we DO clean up the pool toys! :)

Thanks for the updates. Still a long road ahead. Lots of physical and emotional pain to get through. Continuing to pray. :)

Yup. EXACTLY!! He says he can't write controversial articles EVERY week. Must temper it with some non-confrontational ones. And based on the feedback from the "fat kids" one, he's due for something calmer!!! :earseek:

According to the monster on the side of my nose, 48 is not too old to have one!

Ohminnie...tell Mike he has another couple of great articles!

One thing that we have near the pool are two posters. One has instructions and pictures for performing CPR. The other does the same for the Heimlich manuever.

Short of hitting their heads, none of our kids (now) could drown in our pool. It's only 5' deep at one end. It's just a "play pool". Also being a former lifeguard, I watched mine like a hawk, and did like Monica said, I always had the phone outside with me. Before there were portable phones, I plugged one in. The people who built our house put jacks outside. They had grandchildren!

Hi guys, finally got the computer set back up and just catching up. Hope every body is ok.

Monica-PD and prayers for your friends family
Pam-Happy Belated birthday
Kevin-Happy Belated Birthday

Jim-great pics from Alaska. Glad you all had fun.

School starts back up in Sept after labor day for Andy who is in public school and the end of Aug for Brian who is in private school. Bummer for all those kids who have to start in the beg of aug.

Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Hi guys. Prayers and Pixie Dust, please.
I talked to my parents tonight and my Dad's cancer is back. He was given three choices. Shots (nasty side effects), pills ($450 a month) or surgery (not at all pleasant and I won't post it) ...... He had decided to go with the pills, although I guess it's new and may not work, and may also have side effects. My Mom thought he should have the surgery, which has been proven to be the best treatment, but he wasn't listening to her. I talked to him for a long time, he got off the phone while I talked to Mom. He got back on a while later and said that he'd decided to call the doctor in the morning and tell him that he'll have the surgery.
I'm hoping they can do it soon, so that I can be there to help.

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Friday!

Stacey - prayers for your Dad!

Photo update - the last disk we were waiting for is on its way so Mark should be producing the photo DVD's soon. We'll update when they are on their way out. Thanks for your patience.

Personal Countdown - 2 weeks until we head to LONDON!

Stacey - I am so sorry....Prayers of course for your Dad, Mom and family....I cannot imagine...... (and hope I never will). Keep us posted. I hope he does not need to wait long for the surgery, not only so that you can be with him, but that he can get this over with and begin healing.....Again, I am soo sorry!
