5/22/2008 Wonder Cruise!

We've usually received our docs 1-3 weeks before the cruise date. The time it came 1 week before the cruise ended up being 1 day before we left for Florida! :scared1: Talk about cutting it close!
I've talked to DH about the FE and he doesn't want any of the "usual" Disney characters on it. He wants a "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme. I'll have to see if I can come up with something in that vein, but I won't be able to start it until next month. I have my board recertification test next week and our 22nd anniversary is this weekend. (Yes, DH and I are also in the over 40 club).
What are others planning for the Nassau day? Do any of you like Bingo on the ship? My son loves to play it. We get him his own card. Once we won about $70 and another time over $200! :woohoo:
Can't wait to meet all of you!

If you can't find the fabric for Nightmare, how about printing the characters on the iron on stuff to put on the pockets.

We didn't really like Nassau on our last non-Disney cruise, so we plan to hang out on the ship most (or all) of the day.

We have never been to the Bahamas. We were planning on the excursion to Atlantis for a "tour of the ruins" and to look around a bit. We are torn though, we really want time on the ship too. I know the cruise is going to be too short, but like I told my kids, "It's better than not going at all" :rotfl:

This is our "last minute" cruise. We just booked at the beginning of April. :yay:

We made our WDW dining reservations today. One character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe before taking the bus to the ship. We are only going down the day before for a one night stay at the Boardwalk.

Great minds think alike SuzyQ. I've already downloaded some characters from a website. I was thinking of using different black and white fabrics for the different parts of the FE.
We weren't very impressed by Nassau either, but we did enjoy doing the water slides at the Atlantis one year. I was considering going to Cable Beach this year or just staying on the Wonder.

Looks like everyone is stayiing busy during the day....hopefully getting ready for this cruise.

My family and I were booked on the Atlantis Aquaventure but cancelled it and are now doing the Nassau Harbor Cruise in the morning and a self guided walking tour of Nassau in the afternoon that was recommended on another thread. We have never been to Nassau and want to see the city. I have heard it is not the best place but at least I can say I have been there. The walking tour will only take about 2 hours so maybe we can get back in time to relax on the ship before getting ready for Pirate Night!!! pirate:

My sister got my fish extender finished and brought it to me Monday. I will be decorating it this weekend......while watching the Talladega NASCAR race!!! (we go every year but sold our tickets this year so that I could pay for this cruise!!! The things I do for my kids :sad2: ) Anyway, I am doing a High School Graduation theme on my fish extender since this cruise is in honor of her graduating.

I made dining reservations for Chef Mickeys on Sunday night after we get off the cruise. We will be staying 1 night at the Caribbean Beach Resort and then heading home on Monday. My oldest daughter (Katrina) is going to be visiting with a friend and flying home Monday afternoon, so I got to make sure I am at the airport to pick her up or she will be waiting on us.

So much still to do and I feel like I am running out of time. Seems like several of us have things happening before the cruise that we need to deal with first.

Have a great day everyone! I will try to check in later today. :surfweb:

I just did a quick count of people in our cruise group.

37 Adults

22 Children

Breakdown of children -
13 girls
5 boys
4 unknown :confused3

Ages 0 - 2 years - 1
3 - 9 years - 14
10 + years - 7

Thanks for the total DISer count and breakdown, Pam. That sure helps when planning for FE goodies. Looks like we're the only family with a 2 year old and relying on Flounder's for any real adult time!

UPS just arrived with Cruise Docs for the whole family!
It's official, we're CRUISING!
:boat:

Well, usually WE are the last ones to get the docs. This is the earliest I've ever seen them. I recall one cruise that we got them just a few days before we left.

Maybe being in the "basement" helps..... perhaps they start on Deck 1 and work their way up!

Well if that is the case.....I will be the last one to get mine since I am on deck 8!!! Oh lets hope not, I am so ready to have the proof that I am actually getting away for a few days!

Nassau - we are debating doing the powerboat adventure that I have read about on cruise critic - you see rays/sharks - feed inguanas - but otherwise not doing much - not big fans of Nassau - so will enjoy the ship instead which we normally dont take advantage of enough

We did a Pirates theme. There is a Mickey and a Minnie on it, but that is it. All pirates! It's really cool I have to say. I am now making a "disney" one for my friend. You just have to find the right fabric. We got the idea when at Joanes Fabrics and they had a whole pirate section. It was easy from there coordinating the fabrics. I still can't believe it came out as good as it did. It was actually quite difficult to figure out and do all the measurements. THis second one seems easier!

We've done the Bahama thing so many times I swear I could claim residency. We'll go in just to walk the shops and get some souveniers. Other then that we've done most of it. I really enjoyed Atlantis with the kids last time. We just took a cab over there. However they were charging for the "dig" ( the aquarium) $30 a head! We remember being their the time before late in the evening *BTW, they don't generally charge after 4:00 hint hint) So we snuck in the exit off the beach! It was really mischevious! All in the theme! It is very beautiful!

Wow, you all have been busy writing, great, 24hrs without access and I have to do a lot of reading,

Pam, thanks for the detailed overview, great, that helps really.

And a big :thumbsup2 for all of those who made their FE by themselves, I wish I could do that, but this is really something I can't. No talent, really.

We would defenitely be in on wine tasting, we both love wine, aswell as good single malt whiskey (sorry no offence against Jack Daniels)

Refering to excursions, so far we planned the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau, Alena loves swimming and diving. Any experience on your side, has anybody done this before. On Castaway Island we planned the Glas bottom boat trip, how is that?

I called our travel agent today and he called Disney, our documents are somewere between Disney and TA and they should arrive here within the next 7 days.

Machets guet (all the best) (German lesson Nr. .... (loosing track)

We did the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau 6 years ago and you basicly just get in the water with the dolphin and he swims around you. You get your picture taken kissing him and then you get out of the water. It may have changed, but from what I was reading, it sounds the same. Our daughter was 4 at the time and loved it, but we decided to do the sting rays on CC this time instead.

:dance3: WooHoo.......cruise documents made it to my house!!! My daughter called and said Katrina got something in the mail from Disney Cruise Lines. I told her to open it and sure enough it is our documents. Dont know why they are addressed to her....MY name is first!!!! :rotfl:

So now I really gotta get myself in gear and get everthing finalized......so much to do still!!

Pam

Got the cruise docs. :thumbsup2

I guess it really wasn't just a dream. We really are going back on the cruise. :wizard:

I'd like to hear more about Atlantis from the folks that have been before.

The Discover Atlantis excursion runs from 11:15 am to 4:15 pm. $39 per person.

Glad to hear the cruise docs are in hand!
Like Donna said, we're not used to having docs until a few days before departure. We had a retarded TA from AAA back then.

Okay, I found most of our summer clothes and we're turning the closets over. Now I"m really getting excited!!!
