5/22/2008 Wonder Cruise!

Andrea, I'm glad spring is finally springing! You'll have to tell us all about your beautiful country. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Switzerland someday... and not just because of the chocolate! I've seen pictures of the mountains in Lauterbrunnen and Kandersteg and it's breath-taking! I'm sure it's even prettier in person. Ahh, someday!

Liebe Rachel (Dear Rachel)
Great to have you back on board, missed you all week :3dglasses

ups, that was quick, was not finished yet....

... Rachel, where do you know Lauterbrunnen and Kandersteg from. Yes, it is definetely a great area, use to go there for skiing and it is very famous for its spectacular base jump cliffs... not that I would do that.

But you know what, there are many areas in the US that are so similar to Switzerland, the Rocky Mountains, North California or certain areas on the East Coast, but I k.now, often the far away destinations are the more interesting ones. I made more times vacation in the US than I did in Switzerland, funny, isn't it.

Hey, where is everybody :sad2:

Have a great sunday and a good night then
Andrea

1073 is our room number - just posted today on-line -- was hoping for the upgrade - last year we got lucky and got one.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Tom

Hey Tom -

Well, we'll be in good company down there in the basement! Our family has 3 staterooms down there, too.

PARTY on Deck 1 !!!! :dance3:

I can't wait for my daughter to meet you two. She is only 14 and already told her boyfriend all about her Disney wedding and honeymoon on DCL. So no matter who she marries, he'll have to be Dis-ni-fied!!

:scared1: My dear niece has a boyfriend???????? :confused3
Darn good thing I read the DIS boards to keep up with the family!:rotfl:

Yes, I said Earthquake! I had a shaky wakeup call at 4:37am local time...last about 25-30 seconds. Only a 5.2 on the richter (sp?) scale...not real damage here, just a rude awakening and a bunch of chatty students at school. It was all over the news Friday -- was fel all over the midwest...kinda scary!

And did someone mention kids? I wouldn't know..I think I blacked out! :rotfl: :rotfl: We plan on waiting a few years for starting our family.

Yeah, things have been busy! Especially being at the top of my class. I have a super busy schedule the next few weeks:

Wednesday 4/23: I'm giving a presentation at our school's "Scholars' Day" where the top students from each department present research and projects.

Friday 4/25: I'm nominated for our school's top award "The Oak and Ivy" and have to go to a ceremony at the school. Should be a nerve-racking night. I really would love the recognition, but don't wanna get my hopes up. Only 7 out of 50 nominees will be inducted into the society. So keep your fingers crossed and your prayers flowing!

Monday 4/28: I start substitute teaching for a maternity leave. Starting to get nervous, because she had the baby early and there are NO lesson plans! :scared1:

Thursday 5/1: Student Teaching Exit Presentation....I present my work-sample from student teaching to the department board and they determine my grade. There will also be local principals from local schools there to consider contract offers -- again finers and prayers please!

Then comes graduation week, all while substitute teaching!

Have a great week everyone! See you all soon!

Oh, and just to clarify, how WIDE are your fish extenders? How much space is there for them to hang?

Cheers,
Josh

Josh,

Good Luck! I thought my last month of school was busy. Of course I waiting until June to get married, so I did have a month after getting done with school to wrap up any details.

Just remember to breathe and try to get some sleep!

I'm not sure I remember what sleep feels like! Haha! It is going to be a busy month!

On the positive side -- One month from now and we'll be on our way to the AKL for the first night of our Honeymoon! Wahoo!!!!!

Anyone decide any more on fish extender gifts? Are we doing a theme or is this a free-for-all?

Cheers,
Josh

Josh, I heard about the earthquake on the news. Pretty cool !
I get woken up by earthquakes at 4 am all the time, except they aren't really earthquakes. I live 2 minutes from a quarry and the dynamite blasts in the middle of night scare me half out of my skin sometimes.

My fish extender is narrow, measures 8" across. I got it on ebay.

Tom we're right down the hall in the basement. Ugh !!!
Oh well, at least we're ON THE SHIP!
After reading some trip reports some people really love deck 1 and rebook the same rooms. Not my first choice, but maybe it won't be so bad.

My wife, or should I say, DW, told me to post. I'm glad to see other guys here because I just don't get it. It's a 3 night cruise and she is talking fish extenders, tee shirts, matching Hawaiian clothes, door magents, meet and greets, delivering candy, posting on a DIS board, etc. etc.
I'm just along for the ride.
Have to admit, I thought she was nuts at the last cruise meet, but it turned out to be a nice thing. See you on deck with the drink in hand.

Josh.....My fish extender is approx. 8" wide also. My sister made it for me and now I get to decorate it.

As far as the gifts.....whatever you want to give is great. No theme, just give what you want to. Does not have to be big or expensive. This is just a lil "happy" for everyone to find in their fish extender at some point during the day.

Hope that helps.

Working on 4 weeks guys!!

See Ya Real Soon!!

Pam

bloondaddy -- that is funny --- my fiance' is just the opposite - she is the one who doesnt get all the disney stuff -- even though she does like the fish thing

im bringing a cleveland gift for each cabin and maybe some little stuff as well - depends on what i can fit

my fish thing arrived today - they are smaller than i thought - i can imagine how full some of these things get on the bigger cruises - I was impressed by the one that came though - was worth the money and will be fun

I was kind of surprised at the 8" size as well -- but that certainly helps. We have ours laid out and plan to start sewing Sunday --assuming DF recovers from her Bachelorette Party on Saturday night. LoL!

I'll be working all day that day and then I'll probably hang out all by my lonesome.

Seems everyone has been more quiet recently. Hope all is well!

We're officially 1 month from sailing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahoo!!!!!!

Cheers,
Josh

It is raining cats and dogs here in Switzerland, I am soooooooooooooooo ready for vacation, in exactely 2 weeks time we will be sitting in the plane to Miami, yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyiiiiiiiiihaaaaaaaaaaaa

These are my chores until then:
  • knowing what to pack for more than 4 weeks vacation
  • buying all the great Swiss goodies for your fishextenders
  • planing the last details, what to do when and where, find great restaurants
  • finishing reading the unofficial guide to WDW with kids and being more puzzeled than before, am I ready to enter the WORLD

I found some packing lists in other threads, what are the key things for the cruise I am NOT to forget to bring

H E L P I am hysterious and going mad with the last minutes planing, but Josh, how should you feel with having a marriage and honeymoon on the agenda.

a big "Knuddel" (hug) :grouphug: to all of you

I think maybe everyone is busy trying to get some of those last minute details done. I know I am. We have been changing plans and refiguring. We were going to go see friends on the Fl west coast after the cruise, but now my youngest daughter who is graduating wants to go to Magic Kingdom. I told her to make up her mind because we could not do both.....so we are now going to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday. It is only 1 day...but that will have to do for now! At least I am going!!!

Ok....got more work to do. Talk to you all later.

Pam

Checking in to say hello.:flower3:

Still much to do on my end as well. Still need to order the FE, but have been in touch with the seller (tiffany) so just a matter getting it done. Starting to gather the "family" outfits and other cruising accessories.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous in Central FL today and am hoping it stays just like this when y'all are in town. Mid 80s by day, 60s at night, low humidity - good park hopping weather.

Andrea, I can't even imagine packing for a month. But at least you only need to pack summer clothes, though make sure you have a light jacket for cool evenings. And, on board, I found a light sweater good for the restaurants and theater when the air conditioning was a bit too high.

Wow, we cruise in just over 4 weeks. Can't wait...:boat:

I'm in countdown mode! We fly out of Omaha May 20 and will hit Disney World for 1 day before we get on the ship and then go back for another day and 1 day at Sea World.

I'm still trying to decide if we are going to do the Pirate and Princess Party at MK. I'm baffled! AAAHHHH!!!!

Gruezi mitenand (Swiss German lesson Nr. 6)
(Hello to all of you)

Coffeegirl, thanks ever so much for all the effort with the pins and the lanyards (didn't know that word and had to look it up to know what you are talking about, but of course I know what it is. I am sorry, that I can not help with these things, but you do not get them overhere. So sorry. But I will make it up hopefully with nice Swiss presents.

:grouphug: Andrea

CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!

Bloon - Yes, I thought this was a lot too! But, it adds to the fun!

I made a fix extender. It was a lot more difficult then I thought. It is really cute and a pirate theme! I am now making one for my friend. I think it was the symetry that made it hard.

Swiss girl, my DH corrected me and said good chocolate! We usually run around epcot if not drinking or eating our way around the worlds, we buy a chocolate from each country!

So we didn't plan anything yet besides the sail away? What about a pizza party or something? A late night adult get together for drinks? What do you all think? A wine tasting party, we can all bring a wine to share and meet on deck or in a lounge somewhere? I like that idea......

I'm not much for wine, but my DH is. I'm up for whatever. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to do everything on the ship.

When should I be expecting my cruise docs?
