I thought I read somewhere that MK runs the 4th of July Fireworks on the 3rd of July as well as on the 4th. Is it true???? Magic Kingdom will be open until 12:30am on the 3rd.....why so late? Do any parks run their 4th of July displays on the 3rd???? Thanks !! :wave2:

I read that same post here a while back. :confused3 I don't know if it's true or not. I asked the OP where he heard that and he didn't reply. We switched our plans to MK on 7/3 and MGM on 7/4 because we wanted to see their fireworks since they don't run often. I'm interested to see if anyone knows the answer!

We were there two years ago on the fourth. The only "very special 4th of July spectagical fireworks celebration" was ON the fourth. Unless things have changed I feel this is a one day a year event. :crowded: OH, and that was the most people in one place I've ever seen in my 24 years.

We were at Disney a few years ago on the 4th. We opted for MGM because it was the only time they were having fireworks at MGM.It was crowded but not impossible. We were back in our room around 12:30. The next day when we boarded a bus for the parks a driver asked if anyone was at the MK the night before. He informed us that the last bus left MK at 3:30 that morning, and that was only resort Guest. I would have hated to have been trying to get out from the parking lot.

Actually I believe this year, unlike years past, they are running the 4th of July show for the MK on the 3rd and 4th. I assume this is to possibly ease congestion in the parks since some people will hit it on the 3rd now instead of the 4th. It also allows folkes to see more shows.

Of course they may be expecting higher than even normal crowds to have them both nights.

Regardless, this will allow us to see the MK show and the Epcot show.

Probably adding the 3rd since the 4th is on a Monday this year, making for a lot of people taking long weekend trips.

They did that last year. Had the fireworks on both days. Don't miss the Epcot fireworks though. They were awesome.

GoN2WDW-I think I may be the OP you are referring to.I replied to your post the other day-sorry it took so long! :) According to a very reliable internet site, the holiday fireworks are supposed to be shown both July 3 and July 4.The announced Magic Kingdom hours are the same for both July 3 and July 4{9:00 AM-12:30 AM with fireworks at 9:00 PM}so I think the information is correct.Have a GREAT trip! :) :earsboy:

Hmmm, now I'm rethinking our plans. We're staying at GF so we can watch the fireworks from there. If they are being done on both the 3rd and 4th maybe we'll watch them from our hotel on the 3rd and go to Epcot or MGM for the 4th. Is anyone sure they are the same fireworks? Thanks.

Hi WEDWDW! Thanks for the info! Any way you can tell me what that site is? Always looking for more WDW info! ;) DH calls me a Disney junkie!

Absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but my new golden retriever puppy was born last Friday! :cool1: He'll come home 2 weeks after we get home from WDW! Just had to say it! :rotfl:

Is it within The DIS guidelines to mention other sites?I will be glad to,but I don't want to break any rules. :guilty: :) :earsboy:

DisneyMomx7-Actually,if you would like to,you can see both the MGM and Epcot fireworks on July4.MGM is at 9:00 PM and Epcot is at 10:00 PM. :) That is what I am planning on doing.I am also considering walking to the Beach Club after the Epcot fireworks and boarding a bus to DTD for the Midnight fireworks there!Wow,what a day! :)

Last year Epcot fireworks were at 9 with an additional 15 mins after Illuminations.

Decisions, decisions now! And to think I thought I finally had the perfect itinerary. If you had to pick (don't think we'd be able to do both with three small children) would you pick Epcot or MGM for the 4th if we watch the MK ones on the 3rd.

I don't know if this still applies, but back in '97 or '98 PI held a special 4th of July fireworks show at 0001 hours - making it Disney's first fireworks show on the 4th! It was also a different display from their usual one. We found that PI was a little less crowded than the parks later in the day.

DisneyMomx7-The MGM fireworks are very rare-they are only shown twice a year, but I would think, even though I have never seen the patriotic version of IllumiNations, that it would be more spectacular.I saw the holiday IllumiNations in December and it was AWESOME!You have a tough choice, but you really can't go wrong either way.I would probably pick MGM because it is so rare, but, then again,I do love IllumiNations............ :)

i am pretty lucky this year. my DS#2 and myself are arriving on july3rd while the rest of the family is arriving on the 4th. we had planned to be in MGM for the 4th due to the expected massive amount of people tha will surely be in MK that day and were fortunate to have an illuminations cruise the 5th so we are now planning to be in MK for wishes on the 3rd. 3 great fireworks in 3 days. a great start to our vacation :teeth: :teeth:
