When we left the guys to do some girls only things, DD was just busting with excitement!
While we were walking toward the park exit, I reminded her again that this was HER special day.
I explained that we were headed someplace very special where no pirates (like her brothers) were allowed!
Of course, DD has always been one to speak her mind so she said If this is MY day then how come the boys got to go on the carousel and I didnt?
Well, she looked up at me with her big brown eyes, batted her long eyelashes, and I could not resist!
So, we detoured to the carousel and thankfully the line was fairly short so it didnt take long before she was riding on Cinderellas Pony!
After that we hustled out of the park to the monorail. During the ride over to the Grand Floridian, people kept commenting on DDs hair, and telling her she looked beautiful!
Well, she was just soaking up all the attention & telling everybody about the BBB and Cinderellas breakfast and about her favorite princesses.
In this pic, she is showing me Ariel on her T-shirt and explaining that Ariel wasnt at breakfast today because she is a mermaid right now so she had to stay in the water!
But on the shirt she is wearing a dress so she must have had her legs on instead of her fins that day!
On the monorail I also explained to DD that she has been invited to an exclusive tea party thrown by Alice in Wonderland and her friends!
I said its for kids only so Mommy is going to have to wait outside while she enjoys her tea and snacks.
Well, as we expected, DD had no problem at all with the concept of being left alone with strangers- she was totally psyched! I was nervous enough for both of us!
Here, DD is giving her best princess pose in front of the Grand Floridian entrance:
We headed into the hotel, and down the elevator to the ground level to sign DD in for the Wonderland Tea Party.
I had trouble keeping DD with me as we walked because she was wide eyed in awe of the beautiful lobby and didnt watch where she was going at all!
It was a bit chaotic at the sign-in desk because of all the kids (most way older than DD) who were panicking about Mom/Dad leaving.
DD found a little girl about her size with the same princess hair-do and made friends instantly.
That little girl had an older sister (probably about 10 years old) accompanying her so I asked the older girl to keep an eye on DD for me.
I gave DD a disposable camera and asked her to take photos of anything at all that she wanted us to see later.
We practiced taking one shot together in the lobby.
When, I finally got a chance to sign in at the desk, DD got a name tag and I got a beeper.
I insisted that they take my cell phone number just in case the beeper didnt work (yup- Im paranoid) and then we just waited for the CMs to invite all the girls in.
Here is a pic of DD waiting with the crowd while they listened to the CMs directions.
When the doors to the party room opened, DD found a seat next to her little friend and joyfully waved goodbye without a moments hesitation.
She wouldnt even give me a hug! Just Bye, Mom. See ya! You can leave now! Bye!
OK- at this point let me just tell you that the ONLY reason I even agreed to leave my 4 year old in the care of total strangers is because this is Disney and I trust Disney!
So I reminded myself that she would be fine, took a deep breath, and set off to enjoy my little bit of kid-free time at the Grand Floridian!
