Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Afternoon all!

My sense of humour tends to err towards the dark side, going for strange or often something that could be classed as rather inappropriate or very British!

1. Dark/odd ball British comedies - think tv shows like League of Gentlemen, Black Books, Inside No 9, Spaced or films like Death at a Funeral, In Bruges or Snatch.

2. Dog Soldiers - this film gets a special mention despite fitting into the above category as it is genuinely one of my favourites of all time and never fails to make me laugh every time.

3. Quirky/dark US comedies - things like What We Do in the Shadows, The Boys, Rick and Morty. Brooklyn 99 is probably the most "normal" or mainstream funny thing that I like

Today is...

So for today's topic (8/29) tell us 3 things you're grateful for that are ___ & ____ (the colors of whatever college you want to celebrate (your own, your kids, the one in your town, the one who's sports team you root for...)

Happy Friday

I’ll go with my DD22’s college colors for her undergrad, and where she played college softball
⚫⚪🟠🥎

#1 - BLACK COFFEE - I’m grateful for it every day. Today’s flavor is amaretto :goodvibes

#2 - WHITE MILK - I love my milk in my morning cereal and in my protein shake after I workout.

#3 - ORANGE HALLOWEEN & AUTUMN DECORATIONS - I love how i decorate my house in the Fall and I think I may drag that stuff out of the attic this weekend.

#4 - BONUS - YELLOW BANANAS - I’m grateful that this is the one fruit I can eat without any issues with my UC.

My college is one of the few that only has one official color - ORANGE 🧡

Orange Stanley - I just got back from my morning walk. I went a little over 4.5 miles this morning. Today was a fasted walk where I hydrate after since it's a shorter distance and I wanted to weigh in. Needless to say, I am a bit thirsty. Not dangerously thirsty but parched. I was also up around 5:30 a.m. and didn't sleep well last night. I'm feeling a tad sluggish. So, I'm grateful for that big orange Stanley in front of me filled with caffeinated lemonade.

Cantaloupe - Normally, I prefer honeydew, but I've been on a cantaloupe kick all summer. It's often my post gym workout treat since I get a healthier kick of sugar while getting some nutrients and added hydration from the melon pieces.

Orange Clothes/Shoes- I love bright colors and will gladly sport a nice bright orange top, shoes, and or pants/shorts/skirt. It's bold but I think that's why I love it. There's northing wrong with a pop of color, but sometimes you really want a color explosion. Orange can accomplish it!

Evening all!

So as far as I'm aware, UK universities don't have colours or if they do, they aren't anywhere near as prominent or featured as colleges in the US. I certainly don't remember my university having any specific colours, even the sweaters they sold weren't limited to one or two colours.

I dont even recall my university having a sports team either, but then I wasnt really into sports 😂 so sadly I cant contribute today although I do love the fact that your colleges have colours like this and wish we did that over here.

University of Oregon.... yellow and green

Board the Coast starlight Amtrak for a night game but a day light travel

* Fields of Green leaves and yellow squash waiting to be harvest for pumpkin pie 🥧 🥧 filling can be seen as the train travel along Oregon agriculture fields

* The Coburg hills to the east out the train window are high off valley floor so the upper most maple trees are still green but leaves are turning yellow welcoming pumpkin spice

* As you walk from the train to the stadium who is there to greet you... Donald duck..dressed in green.and yellow..the only official licensed Disney in the US other than Marceline

College colors
I honestly don’t remember so I will do HS, blue and yellow
There was this book, Little Blue and Little Yellow, that I used to read to my Kindergarteners. A great story of friendship knowing no color differences
Yellow: bananas
Blue: clear, blue skies in the fall
