Here's a crazy but possible scenario. You and your spouse both sign up for and receive the southwest rapid rewards consumer card and business card. Now between the two of you there are 200,000 sign up bonus points. That's enough to get you 4 nights at the beach club, 8 nights at caribbean beach, or 15 nights at one of the all stars! All for the cost of four $69 credit card annual fees ($276)

Or you could turn in those 200,000 points for $2,000 worth of amazon gift cards!

BOOM, how do you like them apples? =)

I would assume that you would have to have 2 small businesses to qualify for the business cards.

And Chase is not going to approve anyone who applies for 4 credit card accounts in a single household in a very short period of time.

But if you can find another rewards credit card with big bonuses (Sony/Capital One, ThankYou Rewards/Citibank, etc), then you might be able to cobble together another trip for next to nothing OOP.

Just beware of the effect all of those hard pulls on your credit score.

You don't need to own a business to apply for the business card, there is no verification of that. If you say you sell lemonade on your front porch, then you qualify for a business credit card.

I'd apply for the card maybe a week or two apart, but if you have a good credit score you and your spouse will more than likely be approved easily.

Will it hurt your credit score? Perhaps a VERY tiny bit, but the benefits outweigh the negatives in this scenario if you have good credit and rarely apply for loans or credit cards to begin with.

Are you going to try this?

That's a nice chunk of miles(points).

I have never found travel other than actual flights to be a good use of miles. In this instance , I used $190/nt at CB times 8 nts, comes to about $1700(with 11.5% tax-can't remember if that's the right amount now). This calculates out to a value of about 8/10ths of a cent value per mile.

If I calculate out the flight value, I can get 27 one way flights to Disney(using SW 7440 one way -currently 5940, so I'm being generous). The price of a flight with 7440 miles is about $135. That makes those 200,000 miles worth about $3,650, or 1.8 cents per mile.

If that's the only way you can get to Disney, I say go for it. But I'd personally save the miles for actual flights.

Chase approved us for 3 Disney visas last year, within a week or so. We got the free gift cards, and closed the visas after a year, not using them again. Unless something has drastically changed in the last year, I don't think that it is impossible for a family with great credit to get 4 Chase visas.

We don't borrow money, so we could care less about a small hit on our credit score.

OP, try it and see, all Chase can say is "NO".

it could be done..... I;ve been reading the million miles secrets blog too...:thumbsup2
If I had that many points I'd use some to stay at WDW for the length I wanted, probably a cheaper place to get more use out of them, and use some points to get free airfare, free car rental, etc.
that many points can get a lot of things,I wouldn't waste them on 4 nights at a hotel, even a cool one.

I'd go for the 8 nights at CB...4 nights is too short, 15 nights too long (for *me anyway!) :thumbsup2

Interesting idea

Tagged this earlier when reading from my ipod to return and read more. How exactly is it that I can turn these points into Disney hotel nights? Would it be like paying Disney in any other way (could we still have a package w free dining?)?

Get the chase Southwest card for the 50,000 points to use on the airline and then get the Chase Sapphire card for the 50,000 points that turns into a 500.00 check. Now you have airfare and 500 bucks. Have your DH try and you've got even more airfare and 1000.00 :)

Just checked Sapphire is currently doing 40,000 points, so 400.00 dollars, but there's no annual fee!

I used to do something similar before the usmint changed their rules. Racked up big rewards for a good while. Oh well. The cc companies may change their rules if this becomes a problem for them like the mint did.

The Sapphire card carries a hefty $95 annual fee, so you really need to make sure to cancel it if you aren't going to take advantage of it. It used to be a 50K point offer but they charged the annual fee. Now it's 40K without the annual fee. Pretty much a trade off.

You also need to make $3,000 in purchases during the first three months you have the card in order to qualify for the the bonus. And the points don't post to your account for 6-8 weeks after you qualify. Then you have to request your check, which can take another week or so. Plan accordingly if you want to get this card.

You can also use it to add to your Rapid Rewards account. The points transfer 1:1 . The RR points are worth 60 points per dollar on Wanna Get Away flights. That means that your 40K in Sapphire points is worth $667 in RR points.

I got the card because it has no foreign transactions fees and good travel benefits. The savings on the transaction fees alone could pay for the annual fee.

Another perk...if one person applies for both the Chase Personal and Chase Business cards -- they get 100,000 WN points.

If you can earn another 10,000 points in that account, you qualify for a companion pass. With the WN Companion Pass, you designate a person and every time you fly with them your person flies free. This is good on any fare and award tickets.

Supposedly only flying points count towards the 110,000, but as of late last year, the Chase CC Signup Bonuses were counting as well.

Note: I don't fly WN, but I do follow the travel hacking community and Flyeteralk.com and there have been a lot of success stories with this.

i might apply for this card - $400 cash back :cool1:

I'm trying to see how much i could save this year in credit card cash rewards - i did just open the Chase Freedom card and got 200 cash back - wonder if i'll get approved for this card as well....
