Marathon Weekend 2026

I actually thought it was pretty congested all the way through today. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Or maybe my memories of the HM in the past are shrouded in haze and overshadowed by memories of the marathon. Even the highway miles felt clogged today.
I totally agree. I think I'm the odd voice out, but IMO this was easily the worst course I've ever done. There was so little park time, the construction area was horrible (with no lights!), the course felt super crowded and narrow, and the section from grand floridian was worse than the boardwalk section. We were in D (second wave), and it felt like we were always in a crowd--it never really loosened up. We could see ahead at times, and it looked so nice and open. I think we were just stuck in a crowded section, but the course itself was a big disappointment. We haven't done Marathon weekend since 2023 (I think). I don't understand why there isn't more park time and more wide-open highway roads. Overall, we had a good race because we were taking it easy for tomorrow so the super slow crowded sections didn't phase as much as they would. Maybe I'm romanticizing the courses from before COVID, but they seemed so much better. Oh well, it is what it is, and we love RunDisney races, but I do hope they re-examine some of these routes and up the park/wide street time.

Ahhh there’s the anxiety I’ve been waiting for. My feet and ankles are quite unhappy with me right now and I’m working on convincing myself that running tomorrow is a good idea. Or at least not a terrible idea.

I desperately want to nap, but it’s too late now and it would ruin my sleep for tonight

Doctor high dose ibuprofen has always been good at convincing me that ideas are less bad than initially thought...

So I’m not able to access the expo guide either, love that IT. Anyone download the maps for road closures and courses for the half and full?
Team car was a colossal fail on the return to resort today but if I remember right the half was going to be the worst for me going from Epcot to Wilderness lodge. I’d like to get another look at the maps for tomorrow.

If I lived here, I would love to run this course regularly. By myself. Without 15-20k other people running it at the same time.

The congestion for the first two miles, and then GF, was tough.

I am 100% romanticizing the pre-Covid courses with wide open highways, entertainment every mile and perfect race etiquette practiced by all.

That’s how I remember it, anyway.

Team Car took me over an hour to get from Epcot to Boardwalk. Lovely little sidetrack through the MK parking lot before heading back up to Ft Wilderness. It was a mess.

Anyone have suggestions on getting from TTC to anywhere on the course after that? Like to HS or Boardwalk maybe? I think there are only bus routes and in previous years, they get hung up because of the road closures. Kinda boring to spectate just MK and TTC via the monorail.
We took the bus from TTC to AK today and it was easy. This was around 7:15AM.

Cheered with @nancipants for a hot minute! There was a sign just before her that was getting all sorts of awwwwws. Anyone remember what it said? This was at the TTC.

Anyone who is fast want to post/text of Genie is topless tomorrow haha! Looking for Hawaiian shirt genie 🤞🤞 He’s rumored to be around mile 2.5ish- guessing Morrocco

I agree, that there was hardly any park time. I think it sealed the deal that next year I'll do the marathon not goofy. I just didn't enjoy the course very much.

Thanks for this! Will check the road closures maps again!

Gonna agree with this 100%. The Poly/GF section was miserable and borderline dangerous (I started in B). Felt like if you stopped for one second while running, you’d cause a huge accident collision chain for multiple people around you since there was no room to manuever around.

Also felt like the highway miles were pretty clogged with the exception of some sections of World Drive.

Half has always been a frustrating course, at the end of the day it’s been from Epcot to MK and back, without a lot of time in Epcot. That said the route on the way to MK is new and there were already complaints about the bottleneck last year and it sounds like it’s worse now (and they STILL haven’t gotten proper lighting in that one section????). Not sure what the answer is bc it seems like this is driven by the construction at MK but would be nice if they could come up with something better.

Well today I did what doctor flexerol and naproxen told me to do.
Poolside beers always convince me there is nothing wrong, extra morning coffee makes me think I’m right until it’s too late to worry about it.
This is true. I also find that when in doubt I should just pour sugar with caffeine on it and it all magically goes away.
