This was our second sailing on the Dream. This trip was just myself and DH celebrating our 20th anniversary. We got to the port early so we decided to drive down to our our TA's (D.U.) local office and met the nice ladies there. They are the ones who put together the nice gift baskets they mail out before the cruise. If you did not receive your's or you live outside of the US (and you booked with them) you can stop by and pick one up.

Our PAT was 10:30-10:45. We arrived around 10:50 and walked right into the port. Had about a 5 minute wait to check in and we got boarding #2.

There was no line for the boarding photo, so we stopped and had our's taken. We skipped this last year because of the long line.

Walked onto the ship right around 11:30. Stopped by guest service, again no line (love boarding early) and got our "Happy Anniversary" pins. The lobby was a beautiful as I remembered.

Next it was up to Cabanna's for lunch. Again, being early, the place was nearly empty. Filled up our plates and headed outside to eat. It was quite breezy, but still really nice. Love to eat outside.

Got to have the crab claws!

After we ate, we went to check out the new Star Wars area in the kids club and found the muppet's door.

Continued.

We went back up to the outside decks to see the new areas: Vanellope's Sweats and Treats (candy and ice cream for extra charge), Satellite Falls (adult only) and the Funnel Puddle (family splash pool). Really nice areas.

Checked out the adult pool and decks.

Finally it was 1:30 and time to head to our room. We were in #8662, a cat 7A, navigator's veranda, aft starboard side. It was your standard room which was plenty of space for the two of us. The obstructed view was very minimal.

Our luggage arrived really early, by the time were were done putting our magnets on the door and watching the port authority inspect all the supplies being loaded on board, it arrived. It was right around 2pm. We unpacked then headed upstairs for the drink of the day, then to deck 13 to enjoy the sunshine. As we were sitting there, crew were tying together the unoccupied chairs. The wind was blowing pretty hard and we were close to sail away, so they didn't want them blowing overboard!

It wasn't long after that the sail away party began and we headed out to sea.

Continued.

We skipped the actual sail away party and instead headed to the front of the ship, deck 13, and enjoyed the view as we headed out. The wind was really strong, and the waves were getting quite big as we sailed further from land. Had a feeling it was going to be a rough first night. Went back to the cabin and got ready for dinner, we had main seating. We had Royal Palace the first night, this is my least favorite, but I always find something I like. The boat was really rocking! Went out to deck 4 to watch the sun set. After dinner we headed to the 687 Lounge and played Villain's quote trivia, then off to the Golden Mickey's. It amazes me how the dancers can stay upright with the boat rocking and rolling like it was. The show was great.

After the show we walked around the deck and took some photos of the ship all lit up.

Went back to the room, filled out our room service card for morning coffee and then turned in.

Continued. Day 2 - Nassau

We arrived in Nassau and Captain Henry was having to really work to maneuver the Dream into her slip. Took him longer than normal to fight the winds to get her turned around and backed in.

Nassau day continued.

After we watched the Dream dock, we headed to Cabana's to eat. We had the Discover Atlantis tour scheduled for 11:15, so we had some time to run to the straw market to get our son a replacement hat (our dog ate the one he bought here last year). The natives seemed a lot pushier this year than last. Had one man grab my DH arm and tie a bracelet on and said "no charge" just a "donation". When we told him we had no cash, he quickly removed it. Had a few other try to push their goods. The vendors at the straw market were not this way, they were very nice and willing to bargain. We took our purchase back to our room and headed to the D Lounge to meet up with our tour. The bus driver took us through Nassau for a short history lesson, he was really funny. When we got to Atlantis we met up with our guide there. She was great, really made the tour fun, otherwise, it wasn't much more than what we would see at our local aquarium or some of the deluxe resorts at WDW. We were looking forward to spending some time in the casino after our tour, but that's where we hit a snag. Our tickets said "take a credit card as Atlantis does not accept cash". Well this was true for everywhere except the casino! Unless you were staying there and had a room account, the casino only accepted cash. So no slots for us :sad2:.
atlantis.jpg atlantis2.jpg atlantis3.jpg

So with nothing else to do at Atlantis, we headed back to the ship. We put on our suits, got a light snack, a refill of the drink of the day, and relaxed by the adult pool until it was time to get ready for dinner. Tonight was Animator's Palette. Love this restaurant. We had an amazing serving staff, especially our server, Ashton from South Africa. Never thought I would want to request to have the same servers for our next cruise, but I think he changed my mind. Will definitely request him for our May cruise next year.

After dinner we headed to Bingo. The CM running Bingo was great. She made it so much fun, even though we didn't win.

bingo.jpg

After Bingo we were off to Villian's tonight, good show. Pain and Panic make the show. The Cruise Director, Trent and Assistant CD, Anthony remind me of those two. When they do their morning show, they are so funny. After the show we headed to Evolution to watch Match Mate. This was the best game show ever!! Will make sure to see this next year too. We laughed so much, the couples were so cute and funny. We learned (maybe too much) about these three couples.
:rotfl2:
Off to bed after that.

Continued. Castaway Cay day!
Could not ask for a more perfect day for CC. We ate breakfast at Cabana's then headed to deck 1 to go ashore. We left the boat around 9am. We took the tram down to Serenity Bay. It was very beautiful, but almost too quite for us, lol. The water was sooooo cold! For this Florida girl, the water was not warm enough for me. Got in up to my ankles, and that was it. After about 30 minutes we decided that since it was too cold to swim, and not too hot out, we would go for a bike ride. That was really nice. The observation tower offers some amazing views.

CC day continued.
After the bike ride, we ate some lunch at the SB BBQ. The Mahi and Ribeye were very good, but they did not offer as many sides as Cookies & Cookies, too. After lunch we headed back to the family beach. DH wanted to brave the cold water and snorkel. I really wanted to join him, but it was way too cold. Glad I got to do it last year, or I would have been very disappointed. I did manage to wade knee deep, but that was it. The beach was busy, but not too bad. I am from Florida, and have seen the beaches there much more crowded. There were still chairs available and it was after 1pm. We had jet skis reserved for 2pm, and that, by far, was the best money spent on the cruise! We had so much fun. They take you out past Serenity Bay to a huge sand bar and let you walk around. What surprised me is that the water was so much warmer out there.

Continued.
After the jet ski ride, we headed back to the ship. Got a refill on the drink of the day and headed back to our room to rest and get ready for dinner & pirate night.
veranda4.jpg

We didn't dress up in full costumes, but did wear pirate attire. We had dinner at Enchanted Garden, which had the Caribbean themed menu. Had a great dinner and great service. After dinner we went to the pirate show on deck 11 which is now between dinner and the show, around 7:30. Really cute show.
pirate.jpg

When that was over, we headed to the schedule show, which tonight was Michael Harrison, a ventriloquist & comedy show. It was pretty good. After that we headed to the D Lounge for "A Pirates Life for Me" game show. My DH was picked to be part of the show, it was a hoot! Our team won!
pirate2.jpg

Next up was the late pirate show and the fireworks. Since we have seen the show before, we skipped it and headed up to deck 12, the adult's area Current's bar. We grabbed a seat at the bar and had perfect seats for the fireworks.

Back to our room for bed and had this creature to great us!

Day at sea. DH was worried he would be bored. No way was that happening. In fact there was so much to do, we never made it on the aquaduck. We never had time any other day, so we planned to ride it today, but it never happened. Oh well, maybe next year. Today we decided to skip Cabana's and eat at the buffet down in EC. Basically the same food, just less of it. We did ask to sit by the window, but missed eating outside. We went for a nice long walk around deck 4. Love that deck, perfect view of the sea, and so peaceful. We had Mixology scheduled for 2pm, so we checked our navigator for something to do until then and decided on a craft class in Club 687. After that we headed to the Skyline Lounge for the mixology class. That was a lot of fun (and drinks, lol). Learned how to make 5 different drinks and drink them! Went and put our suits on and head to the adult pool for a bit. We decided we wanted to play Bingo again, so we went to change and headed to Evolution. $10,000 jackpot, wow that would of been nice. Did not win, but had a lot fun. After Bingo, we went to the shops, bought a few things then went to the room to get ready for dinner. We had Enchanted Garden again, this time the regular menu. Another great meal and service. After dinner, I went to the room to pack, always such a sad thing to have to do:sad: and DH went to the 687 Pub to watch the end of the NHL playoff game. We met at Evolution for 80's music Trivia Challenge. Oh my, that was so much fun. It is so great that a room full of strangers can become a team of friends. The funny thing was that Anthony (host) and his helpers were not even born yet, wow, that makes me feel old!
mixology.jpg eg.jpg 80s2.jpg 80s.jpg

No, that is not me or my DH, but some other guests who got picked to do the "Alligator" dance!! So funny!!

Continued.
Last day. So sad to wake up the last morning and you are already in PC. We got up and were out of the room by the required 8am. We went up to Cabana's for our last breakfast and savored our last moments on board then headed off the ship by 8:45. Easy off, no waits, gathered our luggage, went through customs and over to the garage and off to home.

Sounds like a mirror image of our first cruise on the Disney Dream.. Love your photos and comments... We just booked our 2nd cruise on the Dream for 2017....

Ok, so my trip report is done, but had to through in a few extra's. DCL has some of the most clean and creatively designed public restrooms. I know it's sort of crazy to take photos of bathroom, but when they look like DCL's you can't help it.

We booked #3 for May 2017 while on board. We are definitely hooked!

Thanks for the review! Can't wait to board the Dream a week from tomorrow!

PS- I totally have a picture of the round bathroom too. The sliding door was crazy and I wonder if anyone, after a few drinks, has struggled to figure it out.

Did you notice it has a mirrored ceiling?

I didn't at first, my DH pointed it out to me.

Near the round restrooms their is a fire alarm on he wall. Some of the prople I was traveling with hit it by mistake, we were so confused - the extra wall closed and half of us just thought it was part of the bathrooms!l. Love those bathrooms!

Thanks for doing a trip report Terri! Very interesting. The ship is beautiful. I guess you didn't get sea sick even though it was pretty rough the first night. I thought your room was nice. I went on a cruise once and my room was much smaller and didn't have a window much less a balcony! How was the bathroom in your cabin? Got any pictures of that? I take pictures of the bathrooms at DW/DL. They are so cool sometimes!

Thanks for sending me the link. You and your DH look like a fun couple!
