Today was Freeport. We got up and ate breakfast at Parrot Cay and then took the kids to their respective clubs, since I had a spa taster scheduled at 9:15. I had talked DH into getting a massage at the same time. I had warned him not to buy anything since I had read here that they sell stuff. I loved my spa taster--I tend to have kinks and pain in my right shoulder because I always carry everything on that side, and I could fell her working them out. I didn't buy anything, but she recommended a metabolism check later. DH bought something! He thought the girl said $14 for some stuff and it was $40!!
I tried to get him to return it but he said he had committed, etc. It was the accent, he says. We both did the rain forest room after that. I cannot breathe in steam rooms but I did like the sauna and the heated loungers. I got that metabolism check and my metabolism is slow--I only burn 1684 calories a day and should burn 2000. I also was dehydrated and holding water (???) and about 30 pounds overweight. Their scale, however, did say I weighed less than I thought I did! I hope it's correct! I went back to the room and DH was watching "The Core" on TV--he couldn't be torn away until it was over--it was OK but I'm glad we didn't pay to see it. We also saw most of "A View from the Top" over the 4 days of the cruise--again, OK but glad I didn't pay for it.
After that we checked all the kids. The girls were having a ball. Ryan (DS) was too, but he wanted to come with us so we checked him out. We ate at Tritons with a family from Mt. Clemens Mich.--turns out their DD was in the clubs with DD#1, and it was their son's bDAy--he was 5, exactly 3 weeks younger than DS! The weird thing was they went to VWL after the cruise like we did and we kept bumping into them! And their hometown is only about 90 minutes north of us. I got a hamburger which was OK. I didn't want anything more adventurous at lunch--in fact I had wanted to go to Parrot Cay, but DH just stopped at Tritons.
After that we went to see Finding Nemo in the theatre. We had thought about shopping in Freeport, but it didn't look very appealing from the ship. It was really cool to see the movie--we had seen it in the drive in, and kind of missed the whole experience of the beautiful ocean effects. We also noticed things we had missed before. We definately have to see it again! The girls stayed in the clubs, but they got to see the Lizzie Maguire movie the day before.
We got the girls out of the clubs at 4! I had told DD#2 it was Canada Day so she should tell her canadian counselors "Happy Canada Day" and told her it was kind of like our 4th of July. The counselors just loved it! James in the 8-9 was especially good and fun for the kids.
Tonight was Animators Palate. I had a True Colors drink (that Gavin is a genius1!), a shrimp and lobster wrapper appetizer, tomato salad, maple-glazed salmon and some NY cheesecake--I couldn't finish. I wanted to mention that DD#1 ate adult meals two nights--ravioli at triton's and sirloin the 4th night. the other two were content with kids meals--in fact on the 4th night DD#2 stayed in her club to eat.
We always had about an hour to mess around between dinner and activities, so we did some shopping tonight. Then we took the kids to Hercules, the Muse-ical--I really, REALLY enjoyed this. I thought Hades was hysterically funny. In fact (shock alert) I liked this better than Disney Dreams. After that we took DD#2 and DS to their clubs (another movie for DS!) and took DD#1 to her hair braiding appt. we had made the night before. The girl really knew her stuff and commented that every single girl that day was getting red, white and blue beads. DD#1 got a "crown", which I had never seen before--when we had considered braiding at the resorts it was always an expensive wrap with many beads. This was $2 a braid, 13 braids, for $26. We tipped $4 as well. DD#1 and another girl were the last two of the night. DD#1 got so many comments at the parks and since we've been home! She feels like the belle of the ball. DD#2 did not want her hair done, so I bought her a Captain Minnie stuffed toy. I also got DS a DCL bus/ship diecast set.
DD#1 went to her clubs. We picked up DS and he was again sound asleep. We got the girls about 11:30. Everyone was sleeping in the room by 12:30.
