4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Aboard new cruisers and potentially new cruisers!!

Mineu - sorry, I can't help you with flights other than to say we're flying British Airways through London. We're actually going to London for a few days prior to the cruise and then just flying through on the return. It was the only way I could find a flight back to the states on the 5th. Most flights from Barcelona to the East Coast depart in the morning. I was able to get a 1:30 flight through London. Then my connection, to NY, is at 5:30pm. Disney suggests that you don't schedule flight prior to 12:30. Good luck finding flights!

We are on the same flight. Maybe we can get together and share transportation costs to the airport or do you already have that?

Welcome to all the new cruisers!!:cool1:

I'd be happy to help with the cost of lanyards too. I'm not sure I ever posted our names:

Me -Tammy
dd12 - Ally
My friend - Debbie
Ally's friend - Sarah

Mineau, Disney does not recommend flights before 12:30. That's a conservative estimate, but there are always things that can delay the ship and the disembarking process.

We couldn't find a cheap flight after 11:00, and we didn't want to risk it, and be completely stressed out that morning, so we decided to stay another night in Barcelona. It was cheaper than paying the higher cost of later flights.

Where are you guys staying. I know there are 2 groups of us at the Renassaince. I am so happy we switched to that hotel bc they have a shuttle from Port to Hotel for 10 Euros pp (5 for kids) and then free airport shuttle the next day! :thumbsup2

Since it's the four of us, with all our large pieces of luggage, we actually booked DCL transportation. I am one of those "nervous Nelly" types

and decided to take the easy - albeit slightly more expensive - way out. Sorry.

I will be traveling on Saturday but would love to call in to meet folks. Are the details somewhere in the threads? Beginning to read through the threads slowly...there are alot of them!!

We are in staterooms 7612 & 7616

We actually haven't decided. We booked the brand new Hotel Novotel Barcelona City for the night we arrive. There's rooms for 4 and hey, it's brand new! It's supposed to open March 29th. I'm staying on a super travel agent rate, and my inlaws are staying for only $110 us. :)

We haven't booked anthing for the last night because we are leaning towards getting something nearer to Las Ramblas.

We are definitely considering the Renaissance too because of the proximity to the airport.

Thanks-I was afraid 10:45 was too early-trying to cut down on the number of days we'll be away from the kids...but then again we don't want to wave goodbye to our plane on the 4th!

Exactly!! My hubby and ds will be home without us for two weeks!! I didn't want to stay another day, or have dd miss yet another day of school, but I just didn't want to risk it.

You might want to take a look at Grupotel Gravina. It is reasonable, has good reviews and is only a block off Las Ramblas so it will be quieter, but very close.

LANYARD COST

I made a decision just to pay for the lanyards because I wanted everyone to be able to have one - and selfishly, because I didn't want to have to figure out how to collect $1.50 from each person.

But that didn't allow anyone (who wanted to purchase or contribute) the opportunity to do so.

I'm not asking - but if you want to contribute - we can work something out. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable. :goodvibes

Lynne, I'll just slip you some Euro onboard:thumbsup2

As I stated earlier, we will be happy to contribute!

We are up at 6:20 on a Saturday morning, for the last T-ball game of the season. YEAH!!!!

Welcome to all everyone new!

We're on a 1025 flight, and I think DCL has booked someone a 1000 flight but I can't remember who. It might be susanowen. There are also a few other groups with early flights. Best to let them post as my memory is poor.

But as mentioned, perhaps if you can stay another night, it will be less stressful as security measures back to the states have increased.

Yes, DCL has booked us on a 10:00am flight. I'm going to trust them to get me there on time. I would have never have booked that early on my own.

 Welcome Everyone.

I can't remember who asked but we are staying at AC Diplomat before the cruise (I like Disney taking us to the port so I don't have to del with getting the luggage there) and on return we are staying at Hotel Gaudi (had good reviews and a quad room).

We are on the Delta flight that leaves Barcelona at 11:20 for JFK and then onto Orlando. We booked through Disney and I too figured if there was a delay or something Disney would have to make good.

Would have no problem contributing for the lanyards.- That's the least we can do for Lynne after all she has done.

I just wanted to check to see if anyone in the second FE group is allergic to any food items? If so I can adjust the gift :goodvibes

Lynne, we'll be happy to contribute for the lanyards - it's so kind of you to get them :thumbsup2
