4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Hi all,

I tried to post this the other day and I don't think it was successful!

We're in cabin 5650. I know one of our FE group members asked for what our favorite winter Olympic sport is. For us it is downhill skiing.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

As for food allergies, we do not have any.

In response to the FE questions for group2, neither of us has any food allergies and would have to say ice skating for the olympics.

I will be traveling on Saturday but would love to call in to meet folks. Are the details somewhere in the threads? Beginning to read through the threads slowly...there are alot of them!!

We are in staterooms 7612 & 7616

Hey I know you :goodvibes and I will be right next door!

Carol

No food allergies to speak of; hubby doesn't like raspberry anything.

Favorite olympic sport---ice skating.

Everyone have a great weekend. Rain here which means no yardwork and I can work on more magnets. DH still prepping family room so we can paint.

No food allergies in my family.

On a trip with dh in Minnesotta and going to spend the next two days shopping before coming home. Two more trips next two weeks and then hopefully can get packing for vacation!

Hope everyone else is busy planning and enjoying the weekend.

I know it isn't funny to you probably, but this made me laugh out loud. That is the funniest thing! I could just imagine it....:rotfl::lmao:

I used to wonder how anyone would not want a porthole from an inside room, but after hearing your experience I have to realize that there may be some really good reasons out there! :rotfl:

I love figure skating too. (But I love the short track skating during the olympics as well!)

Actually I can see the funny side of it now. I even had a little giggle when I typed it, but at the time it was definitely not funny at all.

I just wanted to check to see if anyone in the second FE group is allergic to any food items? If so I can adjust the gift :goodvibes

Lynne, we'll be happy to contribute for the lanyards - it's so kind of you to get them :thumbsup2

I have a potentially life threatening allergy to bananas and DH is allergic to chocolate. Not an allergy as such, but I am on a very strict diet and would ask that nothing edible is included.

As to contributing to the cost of the lanyard, I would be more than happy to do so as well. If this is easiest, I just slip you some Euros on the ship, Lynne.

On one of my other cruise meet threads, I received a lot encouragement regarding contacting DCL about the cabin assignment. Unfortunately due to my shift yesterday I was not able to contact DCL myself, but before I left for work, I emailed my fabulous travel agent at DU to ask if there was anything she could do to help. I had an email from her when I got up this morning saying that this took some convincing as DCL was not going to downgrade me at first, but I am now in 2513, which is a category 12 cabin on deck 2 forward. I am so glad to have the single bathroom and love the location - just a short walk down the corridor and a ride on the lift and I am right in the spa. She really has come through for me. Now I can really look forward to the cruise. I had always said that I would be happy wherever DCL put me as long as I am on the ship, but realized very quickly that the split bathroom was spoiling my cruise before I even got on the ship.

I wore one of the t shirts that I had printed for the cruise (the one with the oval design with the characters peeping out of the porthole) at work yesterday and I got so many positive comments. The last t shirt arrived yesterday and I am really loving it.

Corinna

Can you leave the anchovies and sardines out of mine? :goodvibes

Otherwise, no allergies.

- Lynne

:scared: Ha no worries - I don't eat any fish or seafood so no way will there be anchovies or sardines :thumbsup2

Noted about your DH - I'm glad I asked as I'd hate for someone to not enjoy their gift, on the PCC there was someone with an allergy to cinnamon. I'll think of something else.

I'm so happy you got the cabin you wanted :cloud9:

To All,

I need to know what FE group I'm in. Need to start getting ready for it. I just got families' FE the other day..it looks so cool. We are in cabin 7064, main seating.

Thanks,
Rich....AKA "Team McNeese"

Totally funny. I am so glad that you got a room that you wanted. PLUS, we are just right across the hall from you in 2520. I don't think I can see a sunrise now without thinking of your experiences. :rotfl:

What a difference in the Med FE than the TA. I just finished doing 53 cabins and now my dining room table is covered with plastic bags with room numbers etc.

I will have to clear a space for this group. I must say I am really enjoying it. My husband keeps saying how are we going to get this stuff on the ship.

Can we give the porters boxes (not suitcases) to be delivered with our luggage? (if there' not too heavy and have something for the room stewards to utilize)?

I do have a couple of sturdy boxes I was going to put the stuff in and hope that they take them with the luggage.

Can anyone tell me if the DCL shore excusions are still available? My friend still hasn't given me the ok to book yet-and I just realized that just because there is availability on board-does not mean that there is availabilty on the tours...We will probably book basic city tours-no race cars or camel rides...Thanks!

I believe there are still quiet a few choices available via DCL tours. :thumbsup2 Also, many of the locations are doable DIY and there are several in the group that are going that route, if you decide that there's nothing that appeals from DCL :thumbsup2
