So they have rafts/tubes etc at CC?

They have more than enough of both....... Scroll down the thread below to see one picture of the piles of them. They have them in two places near the family beach. One is at the beginning of the beach, and the other is about midway down the walkway, closer to the other end of the family beach. We usually go to the second location..... saves carrying them while trying to walk in the sand.

Thanks for the information.

So you just pick up your floatie when you get there? They do not have to be reserved in advance? Is there a charge?

I started packing toiletries (shampoos, sunscreen, etc) I have to go through the kids clothes & see what fits from last year...I also need a bathing suit but I hate shopping for that.

Remember the old mantras...... pack everything you think you'll need, then put half of it back! Or the other one..... take half as many clothes as you think you'll need, and twice as much money!Even after many cruises, we still tend to over pack, but we're getting much better. Now we wear "almost" everything we take. The first couple of times though...... that's a much different story. :rolleyes1

I believe this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:worship: :lmao:

You can reserve in advance, but they have plenty, so you really don't need to. It is listed under excursions at CC. We usually book it in advance, so all we have to do is give the CM the ticket they provide. There is a charge..... $6 each, for the entire day. If you only get one or the other, they will allow you to trade. So, if you get a raft and decide you want to trade for a tube.... no problem.

This weekend we are cleaning, then Easter on Sunday, then next week, watch out! Mama is going on vacation! The kids will be picking what they want to pack for toys/stuffed animals, and I will be going through their summer clothes to see what still fits. We will probably be packed 2 weeks ahead of time! LOL

I started a diet program 3 weeks ago, and I am down 7 pounds!!! I am going to amp up my exercise, and hopefully I will be down another 7-10 pounds by the time we leave. I will be walking every morning on deck 4, if anyone would like to join me. I have to find out how many times around is a mile.

Look at how close the ship in my counter is to the END!!! :cool1:

Have a Happy Easter everyone!

My DH was asking me today about any advice on sea sickness. When I went on a cruise as a child I got sick in the beginning and took some dramamine and went to sleep for a couple of hours and then I was fine the rest of the trip. This was a long time ago so I know there are alternatives now. Do you have to get something from the doctor before you leave? Can you get something over the counter?. How is the patch I hear about? Let me know what you all do?

I hear that Ginger Tablets work wonders!! I plan to bring a bunch with me - never been on a cruise, so I am not sure what to expect.

We've had good luck with the Dramamine chewable (less drowsy) tablets. We all take half a tablet in the morning and the other half at night. The only times they didn't work for our DS were when we experienced very rough seas (30 foot waves) on a 7 night Eastern in 2004 and on the EB repo in 2005, when we went through part of Hurricane Hilary. On the repo, we were cruising with another family, and the wife had a horrible reaction to the patch, even though she had used it on previous cruises.

My advice is...... whatever you decide to use, try it at home before the cruise. Also, start using it prior to boarding the ship. Seasickness is a lot is easier to prevent than it is to cure.

That's great!!! Keep up the good work.

I am walking almost daily to get ready. I love looking at all our tickers!!

I have to find out how many times around is a mile.

If I remember correctly, three laps around deck 4 is approximately one mile. They have signs to help keep everyone moving and not colliding with others. I think they want you to go counter-clockwise. At the front of the ship, you go past the area where the anchor chains are and all the machinery to raise/lower the anchors. Very interesting area to see.

Hi Tiggerfan,

I know I'm late on posting my opinion on sea sickness but I've been off-line all weekend. I get motion sickness very easily, can't sit in the back seat of a car, get sick on an airplane, can't do park rides and so on. Back in my single cruising days I always used the patch without any problems. Three years ago when we did a land/sea package, DH and I both used the patches at the park and on the cruise. Worked great. DH was in shock that he could go on amusement park rides without hurling. He was like a little kid again (just like in those Orlando commercials where the adults turn into kids). It had been years since he was able to ride the rides.

We have our patches already packed and ready to go. I also have some kids dramamine packed just in case the kids surprise me and get sick. I'm going to grab some Bonine (sp?) just in case we have problems with the patch, never have but you never know.

We like the patches because you put them on for three days and forget it. And for us, they work really well. Yes your mouth is a little dry but I'm huge water drinker anyway so I don't notice. Knock on wood, haven't had any other side effects.

So we are going to have a bit of everything on hand for motion sickness.

Hi Pam,

I just called my Dr. yesterday to ask him about giving me the patch. Waiting for him to call me back. I just can't imagine my 1st night on the cruise, and NOT feeling sick. (the 1st night is the toughest for me). I am so excited to go to the dining room Sunday night for dinner, and I may actually be able to not only LOOK at the food without wanting to hurl, but actually EAT IT!;)

My Dh gets amused on the first night of the cruise, when half the dining room empties early because peole are so queasy, they just want to head back to the state room. Last cruise, I left, and the man who was seated with us left. DH and the man's wife sat and enjoyed dessert, watching many people leave before dessert.

I just picked up my patches at CVS. He called in 5 patches! We are going on the DVC member cruise in September, so I will be good to go.

Marie,

I sure hope you guys have good luck with the patches. Now watch, I'll be the one leaving the dining room early now that I posted my "oh we just love the patches" post. I promise, I knocked on wood when I typed that so hopefully I didn't jinx us.

We're doing the two dinners on the first night, one with the family at the main seating then a Palo dinner so I really hope our patches work.

I just ordered our pirate outfits off Ebay, I'm so excited. Last cruiese DS1 was sick, sick, sick on Pirate Night so we (DS and I) had to miss it. I'm hoping to make up for it this time. We'll probably all look like geeks but who cares as long as the kids enjoy it. I found someone to make DD and I matching pirate dresses and got someone else to make the guys some pirate shirts. I took the cheap option but I figure we're not going to wear them every day or anything.

If only I worked as well as I plan our vacation.......

Pam

3 weeks from this very minute, the car will be loaded and gassed up. The kids will be looking at the clock at school, waiting for them to be called to the office for dismissal. DH and I will be walking through the house shutting everything off, a last minute walk through. 3 weeks from about five minutes from now, we will drive to the schools, get the kids, and OFF WE GO!

3 weeks from today and counting..........:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We are leaving on Friday 4/18 !!!! So 3 weeks from Friday for us! I made 3 magnets for our door but nothing packed or ready yet.
