4/20/2008, April 20, 2008 - Anyone with us?

Hey Disney1fan2002! We leave 2 weeks from today too! Yippie!!! By the way, how is your daughter doing? I think it was you who posted a few weeks ago about her having breathing problems. I hope she's all better and gearing up for a great trip!

Say it with me... We cruise 2 weeks from tomorrow!!!! :woohoo:

I got the kids stuff packed yesterday. I am a spaz, I ironed all their things, organized their clothes by date & then packed everything in ziploc bags. (but hey it makes things goes smoothly on vacation, no digging thru the bags to see what to wear)

I am hoping to get all of mine & DH's stuff packed today. The suits & dresses will be done the day before so they don't wrinkle too much.

We bought the kids new suitcases Saturday night. They are getting SUPER excited. My DD9 "packed" last night. Within 5 minutes she announced her suitcase was already stuffed. Uh-oh. Looks like I will be doing some repacking for her.

We leave in 9 days! SINGLE DIGITS, BABEEEEEE.:cool1:

Off to check the 10-day forcast for Vero Beach. I can at least see what the weather is going to be on arrival day.:)

Swimmergirl, thanks for asking about my DD. It was quite a scary time, but she seems fine now. We are going to keep her away from the thrill rides at WDW. She has not had another episode in a few weeks.

That is good to hear.

Its almost time to goooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

Well, I got things packed last weekend, now I need to "negative pack" this week. Meaning I have to take previous posters advice and take half OUT now. Man o Friday, right now each one of my boys have 14 shirts for a 10 day trip. What was I thinking?????

I was thinking that today as I was doing laundry. The boys will need 8 shirts for the cruise. 1 for the daytime, and a nice dressy shirt (polo?) for dinner each night.

UGH. I was so hoping to get away packing light, I ALWAYS overpack. I can't help it.

Let's talk about meeting at 3PM in the Promenade lounge on Sunday.

Who is planning on being there? I will be there with my kids, Patrick (11) Sara-Ann (9) and Danny (8). Not sure if my too quiet DH will be there, he might join us.

My kids will be all too ready to sell any other kids the kids club if they are not sure about it. :)

We'll be there too. Me, DH Ritchie, DS1 Mack, DS2 Hayden, and DD Destiny.

You guys might be too embarrassed to claim me as a fellow disser when you see DD and I in our matching Mickey sundresses......I just don't know if I can get enough guts to wear it.

Pam

We will be there also. Heidi, DH Ed, and DD Amy 12.

and Pam you WEAR that dress and have fun.

I have a question for the ppl who have been on the cruise before...

My Father In Law and I are wondering if the tipping is included in the cost of the cruise. When hebooked our trip, they said that the tips are included. Are there any other tips that should be given at the end of the trip? I would hate to stiff these people out of $$ that they may be expecting, and no doubt will have earned...

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated!!

Dizpinfriend - Typically tips are NOT included in the price of your cruise (I think the idea being that you tip based on the service received). You might double check with your travel agent or whoever booked the trip, since who knows what deal they worked out, but I would expect that you will need to tip while on the cruise. The crew makes a very minimal salary and most of their income is from tips, so be sure you give them something. They work very hard!
Per person they recommemd a total of $43.75 per person in tips (page 8 of your cruise ticket booklet has the amount broken down by crew member). Of course you can go up or down from here as you see fit. Hope that helps!

Did you guys see FL is going to have a cold front next week? We are going down early for a few days at the Nick hotel then at WDW so we are flying down on 4/15. It's only going to be 70 that day  I know that's better than the 30 degrees and 4-8 inches of snow we have here today in Northern WI. But I was still hoping to spend Tuesday and Wed at the pool at the Nick. We'll still be there but it could be a bit cool at 70.

But on the BRIGHT side, looks like all sunshine!!! :cheer2:

By the weekend for our cruise, it looks beautiful!!!!!! :cool1:

Later, guys, gotta get back to work.

Thanks for the reply!! I have NO problem tipping, as I am sure these people will deserve every penny and then some.

According to the AAA agent that booked our trip, the tips were included in our cruise price. She assured my Father In Law that the tips were taken care of.

However, I will not leave this to chance and I have already printed out Mousekeeping envelopes and will have the proper amounts of cash at the ready. I plan to go to the pursers office at boarding and confirm this in person on the ship. I would absolutely HATE to find out that a person that worked their tushie off for the comfort of me and my family did not get the $$ they earned and deserve.

BTW - I plan on meeting up with everyone in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm... Not sure what other members of my family will be in tow, but for sure it will be myself and my son Harrison (8) and he will have his DS...

Woot - a week to go until I fly down to WDW!!! Bring it on!!!

I looked up the 10-day forcat for Nassau.....here is what we have for Monday, the 21st:

Mon

Scattered T-Storms

high 81°
low 74°

I hope scattered means scattered somewhere else, away from Atlantis and the beach! LOL

One week from right now.......

we will be in our stateroom getting ready for dinner!:cool1:

We leave Wednesday, and I just got home from work to find DS8 BURNING UP!!! Temp of 103. I gave him motrin and he is in the tub. Please let this be a quick illness.

Oh no!!!! Tell him to get better quickly!!!! Visit a doctor sooner rather than later if he is not feeling better soon - there is a terrible flu going around (trust me, I had it last week)

 Pixie Dust for a speedy recovery!!!
