4/20/2008, April 20, 2008 - Anyone with us?

Hello again guys. Okay, I know this was discussed a little bit on early posts but I would like to bring it up again.

Pirate Night. On our first cruise back in 2005, I believe the Pirate Night was fairly new. At that time I'm not sure how many people dressed up for pirate night and I never got to find out as my DS1 swallowed sea water that day and spent all night throwing up in our cabin. We missed the entire thing while DH and DS2 went to the dinner and party. I tried to get details out of DH but you know how that goes "yeah, it was fun".

Anyway, I was just wondering what you guys were planning on doing for Pirate Night. I feel like an 8th grader asking what you guys are wearing to the dance. Sorry that I'm looking for peer support......that's what these boards are for isn't it???:confused3

Thanks,

Pam

I am looking into buying myself a pirate costume online, and I have already purchased the Jack Sparrow costume for my son (8yrs) at the Disney Store - got a real bargain at $12.50

Sounds like it should be great fun!!

On my last cruise, I was given a pirate bandana during dinner. I used that to dress up as a pirate for the party later that night. I didn't dress up that much. I'm also a Trekkie, but I could never wear an entire Starfleet wardrobe. It was fun, although I was on the side. Most of the folks in front of the stage really went all out and were dancing along. Fireworks were nice. Great surprise from Mickey.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe the Pirate Night is the second night of the cruise, Monday night. I'm pretty sure that's correct.

The last set of 4 day Navigators I could find had Pirate night on Tuesday night, after leaving CC. Monday night was "dress up" night.

Now..... where did I put that rum?!?

oopsi, sorry about that. I told you guys my memory isn't that great...I should know better than to post from memory. Research is always best. Sorry.

Pam

Hi guys,

Less than two months to go!!!

Just wanted to let you know that I just booked a Palo dinner two nights ago. I thought it would all be filled up but went in and logged in anyway. Found a couple spots open so I grabbed one.

Doing an 8:30 dinner on the first night. We are going to "double dip", I think that's what they call it. Going to go to our main dinner with the kidlets and "not" eating, just hanging out. Then after (our first) dinner, we will drop the kidlets off at the kids club and then head to Palo. I feel badly about missing the first night's show, but if the kids want to go, they can go with our friends we are cruising with. We'll see how this goes.

We also have a brunch scheduled for our day at sea. Never been to Palo before so we'll have to see. I'm trusting my fellow Dis folks that it's worth it.

Later

Pam

We are doing a double dip as well on the first night. We chose the early seating for our dinners, and have a 7:30 ressie at Palo - it will be my 12th wedding anniversary - so I wanted to do the dinner that night versus the others. This being my first cruise, I hate the idea of missing the restaurant experience each night, so I will just sit with the family as they eat and whet my appetite for Palo later in the evening.

We are also doing a brunch at Palo - I have heard great things!!

Wow, that will be nice for your anniversary. Good planning.

Glad to hear we aren't the only ones going to be "sitting" through the main seating, not really eating. I can't eat much anyway due to the fact that I had Lap Band surgery a couple months ago and don't have much room for food these days (that's a good thing). Maybe DH can nibble at the table, I just know I can't or else I won't be able to eat a thing at Palo.

Anyway, that's probably TMI, sorry. It's just weird planning a vacation and looking forward to the food when I know I'm only going to eat a tiny bit. That's okay, a couple of bites is all we need to enjoy the taste right?

For those of us in Mass., Feb. vacation is over :cheer2: I really hate Feb. Vacation- too cold!!! Anyway, before you know it, April Vacation will be here.pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Can't wait!!!

I did our online booking this weekend:thumbsup2 Had one some crisis- I couldn't find my passport. I had started a job in Nov. and needed my passport, but I didn't put it back in the usual spot. At least my house got cleaned while I looked for it:rolleyes:

Dh and I started to look at excursions- Still up in the air about Nassau. We don't really want to spend the money to go to Atlantis for the day. Again, I think we will play it by air when we get there. I think we are going to do the walking Kayaking adventure on Castaway Cay. Has anyone done this before?

My DD12 and I are signed up to do the dolphin encounter. The DH will be an observer. Maybe your kids would want to do that if you have not done it yet?

DD10 ,DW and I are also signed up for the dolphin encounter it sounds great and we can't wait.

Myself, DS10 and DS8 are also doing the Dolphin Encounter. DH and DD4 will be observing. Thought it might be a nice little boat ride over there plus being up close with the Dolphins will be fun.

I keep thinking about switching to booking a room at Comfort Inn so that we can go to the Atlantis for the waterparks. I've always wanted to see the Atlantis and if you go through Comfort Inn, the price isn't bad. However, we go to waterparks quite a bit up here at home but we can't "encounter" Dolphins at home. That's why I stick to the Dolphin Encounter instead of the Atlantis.

(You can tell I'm still tempted by the Atlantis can't you?)

I agree about Feb. vacation. I spent every day last week driving back and forth to Wachusett so DS could go skiing. At least he wasn't sitting around the house complaining about being bored!

I think we're just going to "wing it" in Nassau. Right now we're thinking that we'll go to the pirate museum and maybe do a carriage ride.

My parents cruised with us over Thanksgiving, 2006 and they did the walking/kayaking excursion, with DS, at CC. All three of them really liked it and said they would do it again.

House is blissfully quiet here today! aaaaah. The sounds of the children IN SCHOOL.

The snow on Friday gave them a fun weekend. DS11 was outside sledding in our backyard ALL day yesterday. This is a kid I have to drag outside. I had to work, I told them, they play outside, or they clean. Then I threw in a zinger. When they come in from outside they will clean. (they like to go out for 10 minutes, and figure they went out, so they don't have to clean). DS asked what if he stayed out all day? I said if he did, he would not have to clean when he came in. Damn if he didn't stay out until it got dark.

We are getting so very excited about April. It will be here before we know it!
