No cabin assignment here.

I called AAA today since I've heard that they sell Euros. The deal is that you (I) would pay the exchange rate that they are quoting on the day they are ordered, it takes 24 hours to get them, and if I order less than $1000US, there is a $12 shipping fee. For anything $1000 or over, the shipping fee is waived. I'm going to talk to the bank tomorrow, but there's no way I need $1000 in Euros, and I'm wondering if I'm better with US travelers checks (from the safety standpoint) despite the lower exchange rates that will probably be available.

Decisions, decisions......

I'm throwing caution to the wind and "banking " on finding an ATM when I need one:rolleyes1

My son is in Hungary right now, has traveled thoughtout Europe and Asia extensively and he says there is always an ATM and the exchange rate is the best that way :confused3

Do know some attractions will only take local currency (ie. hoho bus in Barcelona) but others will take Euros or Amer. Dollars and I do hope to use the credit card whenever possible.

Guess my big risk is no street vendors for me right away until I find an ATM!

I WANT MY STATEROOM ASSIGNMENT!!!!!!!

There, I feel better already.

Move along, nothing to see here... :rolleyes1

Was able to see some parts of the ship I hadn't seen before: the lookout for the captain on the side - I think he has a clear look-through spot on the floor [according to a show I saw on the Travel Channel] (you can see the crew standing there), the crew pool and balconies on the front (fore) on decks 5 & 6 - anybody know what they are used for?

I guess I will be taking the ship tour on one of the Sea Days. I hoping to take in a bunch of tours and talks.

- Lynne

That might make a nice Question of the Day:

For repeat Disney cruisers: What part of the ship have you not seen or spent time in that you would like to check out this time?

For new DCL cruises: What part of the ship are you most interested in seeing?

I plan to actually make it INSIDE the Rainforest Room and enjoy a tile lounger at least once!

.

JACKIE -- have you checked to see if WE have a room nbr yet????

:lmao::lmao:

Same here. I'm thinking those of us who are Cat 12 'latecomers' will be placed last, as soon as they shift all the rest of your around. :yay:

You don't know how many times I, also, have typed Krissann, only to go back and take out that extra "s." :goodvibes

I actually have a little verbal thingy I say when telling people how to spell my name correctly.

Krisann,

Sorry I'm constantly misspelling your name...Can we make your workshop on a day with no book exchange / yarn group? Unless you meant 10PM....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

YES I meant 10pm! 10 am I might not be up yet. I wanted to schedule a time when other activities are not a major conflict. I will keep it to an hour but if some want to meet another time another day I will work that out also.

Good, now I don't have to call them. :thumbsup2 Have to go into the bank tomorrow (I'm rarely ever INDISDE a bank anymore), and will ask there and also call my credit union. I want to go over with maybe 100 Euros in small bills. I don't know WHY, it just feels better to have some local money as soon as I step off the ship.

Question of the Day:

For repeat Disney cruisers: What part of the ship have you not seen or spent time in that you would like to check out this time?

Have not seen: The hull (not counting the model in the terminal)
Would like to check out: Galley Tour

<<upgrades>>
I'd be curious to know if anyone who booked a SPECIFIC STATEROOM has (now, or in the past) received an upgrade. I recognize GTY's will put you where it works best for the cruise line ... but it's sometimes awkward to see someone who has booked a category less than your own - only for them to receive an upgrade to one above yours.

we are still in our same category 10 - same room - was hoping for some magic dust but it is ok - nice to be upgraded but we do not book a cabin that we are not ok with - we sailed 15 nights in a 10 so 14 should not be a problem :)

Krisann

Do you ever wonder where these DCL people who do cabin assignments are sitting and what exactly they are looking at? is it a big dry erase board with deck plans on it, a computer program, some combination of both? Do they ever go, "ooohh, lets put these people here for fun" ???? Are they using dry erase pens?:rotfl:

 or maybe somebody really does now how it works! ??? Do tell!

I forget, do we have any CM's sailing with us? Maybe they know.

And I'm not even expecting an upgrade at all:rotfl2: I asked NOT to be upgraded if at all possible. I like the higher decks and don't care about a porthole or a split bath! Cat11 GTY here we come!

I've decided I'm now wishing for any aft cabin so I can sit down in Animator's Palette for muster drill! :lmao: Yes, the 15 minutes of comfort sounds good to my achy hips today.

Actually, I really loved the location of our last cabin (7042), so I'd be happy with one of the 11's just forward of the mid-ship elevator (well, I'd be happier with a surprise verandah upgrade)!:)

.

We look good - one thing though - not a biggie - but my name only has one "s" in it - can you change that on the Secret Mickey and FE list - thanks.

Krisann
Oops, I knew that. I must have been just careless typing. Sorry! :flower3:

You don't know how many times I, also, have typed Krissann, only to go back and take out that extra "s." :goodvibes

Glad to know I am not the only one! :) Truly, just careless typing. I have corrected it myself alot too....just must not have caught it those 2 times. LOL

Room numbers and upgrades are out there!

YAY! :cheer2:
But not for me yet. D'OH!! :headache:

Yahoo!!

We are Cat 6 to 4
Mum 11gty to 9

:woohoo:

You are so lucky! I am so jealous. My wish would come true if we went from a cat 11 GTY to a 9. I am just hoping and praying for a split bath.

So glad someone else got their information too! I was starting to think they had just needed our room, and that I had sent up a false alarm and was going to be in big trouble. We are thrilled to have gone from an assigned number ocean view to a very nice balcony, still forward, our preferred location. I hope they finish up when tomorrow's crew comes to work, and that everyone gets their room number no later than tomorrow afternoon when whoever is in charge hits the "confirm" button at the end of their shift. :hippie:
