Seems to me that these people on eBay are making the FE's (not copyrighted or trademarked ... but rather ... are using patterns, and machines which have been licensed by Disney. I do not sew, but believe it goes something like that. Can anyone else comment on this?

Yes I have a friend who has an embriodery buisness and her machine is licensed through Disney.

Mum and I both have disney embroidery machines and they are personal use only. We will be wearing items we have made. We are not allowed to sell them though. I have made Mum, DD and myself matching patchwork skirts from disney fabrics. It will be fun!!

Eusebia from danielmaderiataxis posts frequently on cruise critic. She has left this message

"Hello everyone!

Thank God we're all safe and sound. I must say we're very lucky not to have been caught in the floods.

So much distruction, it's an unbelievable sight.

Authorities are doing all they can, trying to have Funchal back to normal as soon as possible. Cleaning work is underway day and night, but it's a hard long job.

Our cable connection was restored just a while ago and I had to come here straight away.

Thank you so much for your concern and all the kind thoughts.

God Bless. "

I hope that if the Funchal dock is able to accomodate the ship that we will still dock in Madeira. It will be important to their finanical recovery that tourists come and spend their tourist$s.

I checked Cruise Critic concerning Funchal. The Costa Marina is due to dock on Tuesday and there's no information on whether or not that will happen.

I think we'll probably be able to make the stop and agree with disneymum that tourist $ will be a huge help in the recovery process. Let's hope things are close enough to "normal" for a stop there.

WARNING - This site is VERY addicting!!!!

DRESS LINK

Those dresses are Beautiful Brooklyn! :thumbsup2
I went to the website but they only make clothes for little girls....no cougar wear :confused3:rotfl:

I would have loved to have booked DCL (if it wasn't a $1k difference) All we had to do was go thru security. I wonder if it will be the same for int'l flights? Dang. Not worth $1k extra to me, but a nice bonus.

...I bought my own airfare...I just have disney transfers to the barcelona airport (disney airfare was too expensive). As long as I get to the airport as early as required...I think I will be fine.

If you're heading to Madrid or elsewhere in Spain by train at the end of the cruise, you can now book the AVE high speed train. Like airlines, RENFE offers their best price in advance, in this case 62 days in advance (which is today). We were able to get a seat for 45 euros per person instead of the usual 121 euros per person.

Two links that might help you:

that makes me feel better - if you ever look at disney fabric sold in the stores you will see it says on the edge - for personal use only - and you are not allowed to make anything with it to sell. I know brother makes a "disney" machine but did not know if it was personal use only. So much of this is tricky.

Is it really worth starting this debate. :confused3 I will edit my post to remove the link bc there is NO WAY that this lady deserves a FIRESTORM. I will also remove the picture of the girls...again NOT WORTH the trouble.

As for my friend, not the lady who made this dress, I think she can handle herself. Most of her work is "stick figure type families". I don't even think she has Disney stuff on her website, maybe for that reason. I have just seen her stuff on our trips to DL.

At first I was worried about these changes. Mostly for my 4yo. I was worried that older kids would take over activities. I think however after seeing this video a few weeks ago I am excited about it. The one frustrating thing with the clubs was that if the 4yo's were making cookies when we were doing something else then they never really got the chance to do it again. Now the girls can do whatever activities they want whenever they are in there. :cool1: I am too now a believer...well I guess I should see how it all goes on board. :lmao:

Ok so I am researching being able to use my cell phone at sea...

Here is the info that I got from Sprint. I copied and pasted our "chat session"

Sprint offers wireless roaming service on board the Disney - Magic. Service is available for use when the cruise ship is in international waters, sailing out of range of land-based networks. Cruise ship service is turned down when the ship is in port. All calls placed from the cruise ship are $2.49/minute. I apologize, texting and data is not available while on the cruise ship.

I called DCL (friday) about the change, I love the idea for DS but they said they are still "testing" the program and can not promise that it will be in effect for our trip. Let's hope!

Thank you for the link to the dresses, I LOVE them! I'm going to get one for DD but I don't think DS will like any of the shirts.

I am sorry - I was not trying to start a debate - I loved the dresses and would have purchased if my daughter was still small - I was just asking a question that someone asked me when I showed them what I had ordered and you all are my best source. The person who asked then told me a horror story and so I was just truely asking a question. I will go and remove my question -I did not mean to upset anyone. Sorry again.

glad to hear we should be able to stop there - I am having the kids research our ports as part of school. We still have not decided if we are going to cancel our full day at Maderia tour with dcl yet or not - has nothing to do with the recent events - been trying to decide since we booked it.

Krissann, for what it's worth a) I didn't see your question as starting a debate and b) it's a valid question.

Several things come to mind:

1) We can stop publicly passing our "merchandise sources" on the boards ("PM me for details" always works :thumbsup2) unless they have no copyrighted material, like the CafePress site.

2) I find it hard to believe that any CM on the ship will interrogate you about your FE. They may offer a friendly "This is great! Where did you get it?" and you can offer an equally friendly "I made it / someone made it for me / a friend made it for me." If you don't say "I bought it on ebay" I'm pretty sure that would be the end of the conversation. I don't know what horror stories you've heard, but I'm pretty sure Disney won't go after individuals on the cruise. It just doesn't make sense to me, after all my years of interacting with them. We had Disney Magic tees on other cruises, with iron-on Mickey logos to boot, and the crew members always teased us about being part of "that group" but that was all in good fun, no questions asked.

So bottom line -- to protect the dress / FE makers we may want to keep that info offline, but I don't think we have a problem with using FEs / dresses w/characters on them. They won't ask, and we won't tell...

Keep it off line...:confused3 They sell online. :confused3 It is not like it is the Knights Templar or secret society.

Yeah, I had a feeling I should stay out of this.

I was making a suggestion, just like Krissann was asking a question. Nobody was pointing fingers or accusing someone else of doing something wrong. Is there a reason why this is turning ugly?

Christmas Organizing Workshop at Sea

Here is who I have down that have said they are interested in possibly coming (knowing based on other factors may or may not be able to attend once on board)

I am going to go and look at navigators and see what time the music stops in the PL and set it for that time if it is not too late.

I know I have forgotten people as I forgot to write some down and I am still going back and going through the messages to see who I might have forgotten.

If you said you were interested and you r name is not below please send me an email to akblair@charter.net with the Subject: Christmas Organizing Workshop at Sea - include your DIS name please. Thanks!
