So, what exactly is the difference between an FE and an SM. (I am such a newbie!)

It's probably easiest to pop back to Page 1 & 2 of this thread ... LOTS of information on all sorts of things ... including FE's & Secret Mickley. Some of the information is updated from time to time. As an example, posting #6 provides the following information ...

Onboard TASTINGS, Wine, Martini, Beer, Tequila
DCL typically offers various TASTING activities at a slight charge (booked to your room charge). Some of us have cruised many times, but have never attended a TASTING ... thinking we'd be alone, or feel out of place.

If you THINK you'd like to participate in the ship's Wine Tasting, Martini Tasting, Beer Tasting and / or Tequila Tasting(s) ... and would feel more at home if you could attend with friends, simply send a PM to sdlong329. Please include which Tasting(s) you are interested in attending, your userID, and your stateroom number, if known (indicate if you are a GTY). By including your stateroom number, you will receive an in-room voice mail reminder of the scheduled Tastings. You ARE NOT OBLIGATED to attend.

Since exact dates and times are not known before sailing, please keep an eye open in your daily NAVIGATOR for upcoming dates, times and locations. DCL often requires simple registration in advance. You will handle any cost(s) or reservation(s) on your own.

EXAMPLE:
WINE TASTING: sdlong329, #2068
BEER TASTING: sdlong329, #2068

or,

TEQUILA TASTING: sdlong329, GTY 12

This is known in the writing world as "Shameless self-promotion." :lmao::lmao:

I'm just making trouble again, Steven. I think you're doing a great job! :thumbsup2

Shamless? Sounds like a compliment to me! :rotfl2:
I will probably be attending two of the four tastings. I've been on dozens of cruises, but NEVER attended any tastings. I'm doing whatever I can, to get others to come out of the TASTINGS closet! I look at the Tastings, Book Exchange, Knitting, Board Game dates as another chance to socialize, and have fun! I mean ... what else are we supposed to do while at sea!?
:woohoo:

BTW - DW (Donna) wants to know if you'd consider a Knitting for beginners introduction (not necessarily a class) at one of your knitting get-togethers.

In Gibraltar we walked off the ship, hired a taxi to take us all over and we paid them in US Dollars. We also shopped using US Dollars. I never knew there was a Gibraltar Pound.

Joe from Gibraltar Tours mentioned that the driver will accept US Dollars.

Anyone else really geared up for Lost tonight? I remember when the last season ended that it seemed like forever to have to wait until 2010 for more episodes, but here we are.

Can't wait!!!

Any advanced knitters on board looking for a project? I have 2 sleeves and neck that need to be knit on a sweater that I've been working on *FOREVER*
I am so tired of looking at the yarn and pattern that I've given up on it. ;) Rowan wool Ribbon Twist. Gorgeous yarn, fabulous pattern. No. 3 Erin pattern from Rowan Ribbon Twist Collection. I can pay you in ... DOTD, milkshakes in the Walt theater during show, Konk Coolers on CC, day pass to Rainforest Room, etc. LMK. ;)

My dh did the tastings and he really enjoyed them. I bet he'd do them again...

AHHHH! I could just scream! My old program that I used to make all of our magnets in the past is gone. I got windows 7 and can't find the disk to reload the old graphics program. What kind of software are any of you magnet makers using?

I usually pirate the ones others post. :rolleyes1 I have Photoshop Elements 6 but I haven't tried loading it on my new computer, yet. I didn't even use it much on my old computer. I wanted to learn how to make magnets, design really, but I spend too much of my free time on these goofy boards to learn the program!!

Thank you! I'm hoping these will take up less room in our luggage!:thumbsup2

... I have used the Purex sheets throughout this trip with no problems. I do not have allergic reactions to detergents, but I do not like the perfumes in them - gives me a sore throat; I do not have this issue with the "pure" or whatever Purex. If uncertain, you might give it a try at home before setting across the ocean.

I bought some of these sheets a few weeks ago and tried them out at home. My load of solid teal scrubs came out with some spots on them. I followed the directions exactly. I put some Stain Stick on the spots but they're still there. The other load was whites and had no problem with that load. So, if you have something that you don't want spotted up, I recommend using something else. Sometime back someone posted a link to comments about this product and this was the most common complaint.

Just arriving from Cruise Critic board. First Disney cruise but have owned timeshares in Orlando for decades and love the "World".

Don't have time to catch up on 96 pages. I'm interested in any tours/excursions being booked privately with room for one more. Would be interested in sightseeing tours since this is my first visit to all these ports. I'm a young-at-heart, solo cruisiing grandmom who will celebrate my 65th birthday on this cruise.

I do hope to take in Flower Festival activites in Funchai.

Weldome! I don't know how you are mobility-wise but there are 3 of us who are mobility challenged who wanted to do an excursion in Madeira on our own. We just kind of forgot about it being as there are only 3 of us. But if you'd be interested, let me know. We can start up the conversation again. If you post a bunch of times, telling us about yourself, what cat cabin, past experiences, anything really, you will get up to that magic 10 post count when you can start pm'ing (privage messaging). Then we won't tie up the boards with our private conversations. This is the people we were thinking about using in Madeira for either a 4 hour or 6 hour tour:

There are others on our cruise using them, too. I found them on cruisecritic. Let me know what you think.

Okay... who is Rick Steves? A tour guide book person or online? Is this a book I should be looking at my library or bookstore for?

Yikes! I need information folks, Information I tell you!

Rick Steves is an author and travel guide who has popular step-by-step travel books and videos that often play on PBS. You can find his books at the library or large bookstores. His team produced a comprehensive Spain book that we found very useful on our last trip. If you are really interested, try to get a copy of his Spain DVDs. We bought copies of RS DVDs for $10 at Costco a few months ago.

I want the 2010 Passporter DCL book too! We are excited for our Honeymoon to be a special memory on this Transatlantic, but this is our first cruise and we have little time to plan for our wedding AND finish making our FEs :lmao:!! We are mainly relying on DIS posts to find answers to our questions at this time. Some of you had the same questions we did. I hope we aren't missing anything in the new book.

Dont forget the mobility group going on the private van at Gibraltar. I believe the van holds 8 and we have 6 in the group. Can't wait for that one.

Yippee!

So is the list on the first page THE list? Has all names been added since the deadline closed? Just curious (and anxious to get started)

Thanks I don't usually go to overboard on the designs, (I'm not that artistic) I mostly use pictures we have taken from past cruises to make the magnets. I am going to Best buy and Target and see what they have for basic software.

Why in the world if I booked this cruise at 18 months out, and now have 10 weeks (we leave on Tuesday before the cruise) do I feel so nervous? What have I been doing those other 62 weeks!!!

I feel like I will never get everything done! I am normally a last minute person, but this cruise I wanted to be ready and not so worried I missed something and I thought with 18 months it would help BUT IT HAS NOT!

Anyone else feeling this way or am I just weird? When I saw 10 weeks I really got nervous - not only is the WDW/Cruise/Europe trip coming up, I turn 40 in 2 weeks, my oldest turns 15, will get her learners permit, I have 5 books to write and finish and not to mention my computer crashing last week and son spraining his hand, homeschooling, valentines day, other birthdays, etc. etc. etc.

the numbers are higher than yesterday so I would say most likely but I would wait for Michelle to get back with us and tell us FOR SURE incase someone sent her an email late last night and she did not get them up. I am going on that number - I will redo my breakdown of kids by ages also.

Ok, I must be off a week because I thought we had 9 weeks if we were going down a few days before. Note to self, check calendar :)

Momentous occasion getting the learners permit. My dd will be 16 soon and still doesn't have hers (we made ours all wait til almost 17 to drive). So don't let your dd tell my dd she has her permit, mine will be envious.

Such a relief to know I am not the only one who, if not for the last minute, Nothing would get done!

We are in the exact opposite boat this time. We rebooked onboard for a year out and I thought the same thing. good, lots of time to plan and get organized, hope springs eternal I guess

And then we switched to this cruise just last week for sure and suddenly I am in a panic! While on the onther hand, I think I am actually mourning the loss of all that "anticipation building" time ya know? Seems like it will be over and done with before I can get everything ready!

And boy do I hear ya sister about LIFE just getting in the way :rotfl: sometimes of vacation! We have 6 kiddos, and I promise you there is something major going on in every single one of their lives. Dh has a brand new job after 25 years of the same one, and I am not getting any younger as I sit here making my list for the DH's 50th birthday party! oh yeah, ps. we homeschool too.

:thumbsup2Good to know I am in such good company! And THANK YOU for all you are doing to make this cruise so much fun!

Sure, I'd be happy too! I still consider myself a beginner though, I've only been knitting for ~2 years. If she's willing to take the chance, I'm more tham happy to show her some stuff :)

I have an 8 year old daughter that knits, but is learning. Is it an adult group? I don't know if she would want to leave the Oceaneer's Lab, but just curious for her.

I think that is the final count. I did not receive any late night emails, and have been keeping the general tally up and adding the numbers as its been going along, so I think that we are good to go! :goodvibes

Sorry about not doing a further breakdown of ages. I was going to do names, ages and room #s for the final list though....but I guess some people might need the breakdown of the kids' ages before then.

Brooklyn, I had to renew my passport, too, as it expired less than six months after we disembark. Warning to all: Try to preregister fpor your cruise NOW. You can find out then if you need to do something like renew a passport. Your US passport expiration must be AFTER 10/24/10. (Not sure about other countries...)
I am hopelessly behind... I was off for a week and you guys posted over 50 PAGES of threads!!! Looking forward to FE, lanyards, SM and more...
