Are those rates way lower and are they just for agents--or for their clients, too?

I'm sending a PM about Palo brunch.

Welcome back Lynne! Sounds like you had fun...glad you saw some LOST stuff. I will see it one day

Sorry to hear about the TA fares Dee....argggg

Seems some folks were able to get refunds/change fares and some where not with no real rhyme or reason....(my TA tried) I wrote DCL and got some stupid response about them being sorry for my dissapointment ....blah blah blah....OK I am movin on... have to let it go:rolleyes:

I am very happy for the Saints! and of course....they are going to Disney World! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: (seriously...did you see the commercial?)

Happy Day everyone

Thanks everyone for the replies about early vs. late dinner.

It sounds like late will work better for us given the time change and all that. If the kids are hungry earlier we can snag a snack some where.

We are from Maryland, near DC too (Silver Spring). Survived the snowpocalypse with 30" or so of snow, power out for about 20 hours, and two trees came down in our yard. Spent three hours shoveling the driveway today - I am feeling it now.

Looking forward to lazing away on the at sea days. Can't wait.

I am with you annekevdbroek! I am sore from shoveling and dreaming of a warm tile lounger. Ahhhhh......

Ok we got our airfare booked for sun the 25. We are staying at hesperian tower te night of debarktion. It looked nice and had good reviews on trip advisor. Anyone know anythng about it?

Yes just outta curiosity how do they compare to the 699 pp catc12?

Travel agent discounts are usually not offered till after final payments. They are the last type to be offered (after FL resident/military,etc) in order to fill the ship. A travel agent has to be in the stateroom.

I've been told they are quite low and would break your heart to know about them....:lmao:

.

Welcome back, Lynne! Now that you are back, here are a few updates for you.

We switched from 1 cat 4 room to two cat 5 rooms (and added dh). I will now be in 7580 w/ Dh & Gavin and my parents will be in 7582. Please take us off the list for the cat 4 room tour in 8536 as I don't think the new person staying in it would want us all barging in! :rotfl: If you need a cat 5 person for a tour, we will be happy to do that (our two rooms are connecting as well).

We will be using a single FE for the 5 of us and it will hang outside of room 7580.

Please add Dh (Dino) to the lanyard list (with Donald).

I think that is all of the updates for now...

...are you locked out of changing to a better fare due to the "within 90 days" rule?

Pretty much. Which is why they always do it around this time. But it still hurts. Badly!

These are only for travel agents and people staying in the same stateroom.

Got your PM!

Try "much lower."

DON'T do that!!! Then Carla and I won't have anyone to sit with at dinner! Seriously though, now that we're best buds, wanna share a room on another cruise???? :lmao: JK (just kidding)

You still have 4 other DISers! Don't hurt their feelings! :rotfl:

Do you snore? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Surely they can't be better than cm discount ?

I don't know what the CM discounts are but I'd be curious to find out.

I too am upset. We paid top dollar for cat 9 and when we tried to change it for the cat 12 were told we would lose the OBC and pay $1900 penalty!!!!!!!!!!!

Surprise your fellow cruisers with a small gift in their Fish Extender!

This is the Fish Extender gift giving list according to general info and by cabin number. If anyone is doing gifts according to age, or by gender, etc, please see the website for a more detailed breakdown. I will add the room numbers to the list as they are assigned since many do not have room assignments yet.
Also, if anyone sees something that is incorrect and needs to be fixed or changed (some people are giving gifts according to the amount of people and not cabins), or if you do not see your name on this list and would like to be added, please pm me, michelle2.

Some ideas of past things that I have gotten as FE gifts are: strings of mardi gras beads, pirate or other tattoos, stickers, pens and pencils with customized info about the cruise on them, small toys, candy, door magnets, bubbles, party favors, antenna toppers, etc....

We have decided on some general guidelines:
DEADLINE TO JOIN THE FE GROUP WILL BE FEBRUARY 1ST. (Due to having enough time and notice to specially prepare gifts.) If someone wants to join after this date, a second group can be added.

The group has decided to give to all on the list, and can deliver anytime they want.

Ginamarie: 2A, 2C (DD4 and DS1)
Ginamarie Ginamarie's DB and DSIL): 2A
Ginamarie (Ginamarie's parents): 2A, 2C (DS11 and DS6)

Whoops.. Just realized that you had my 11 year old sister down as a boy. Everything else is right- just the gender of the 11 year old is a girl! :)

The next time we want to sail on a DCL T/A, we should wait to book 'till we get inside the 90 day window for the lowest rates ... assuming we have access to decent airfare. Either that, our I could
- join the military
- become a cast member
- become a travel agent

So are many of us who are in group 1. DCL will cancel your personal resie once the group resie is approved.

Of course, that assumes you want to join the group. It's totally OK if you prefer to go on your own. I just wanted to clarify the fact that having a personal reservation at Palo doesn't prevent you from putting your name down for a group reservation.

I'm going to leave the reservation as a private brunch just because this will probably be the only adult time DH and I get to have together. We're doing the brunch with my brother and his wife, but otherwise it's our one chance at some romantic time!

Surely they can't be better than cm discount ?

There is NO WAY they're better than the cast member rates. We cut it just under the wire to switch our reservation to the new cast member rate last month and the discount was unbelievable. We switched all of our rooms from cat 10s to balcony guarantees and still saved a LOT of money from what we were originally paying. These are the best CM rates I've ever seen for DCL, although I remember similar rates for the first set of TA cruises, and I remember being upset because we couldn't do it then (we had a wedding to attend).

The TA cruises are not selling all that well, though this is no surprise to DCL. Repo cruises are always the slowest to sell because of their length (people can't take off that long as easily) and because of the one-way expenses. I've been getting discount emails for other cruiselines who are selling TA cruises at $399-$599 for 13-15 nights.

The cruise market is a little slow right now anyway because of the economy, but the repos are always the slowest of the slow.

The good CM rates didn't kick in until 95 days out either! We were paying the same as the rest of the people who had early booking discounts and just getting our tips rolled in (so our rate was actually a little higher than EB discount). We TOTALLY lucked out because the CM rates kicked in at 95 days instead of 85 days. That way we could cancel our reservations for a full refund and just rebook.

USUALLY, the best CM rates don't come out until 6-8 weeks before the ship sets sail (that's called the space available discount), and then you face the same problems with trying to get last minute vacation time and paying the higher air fare rates.

40 or 43 years?

We are celebrating 40 years April 18, nice of Maderia to have the flower festival for the occasion. I saw the 43 on the site and just figured that was close enough. Good catch though!! DH just popped his knee and can hardly walk, I'm running around trying to get him put back together before the cruise. We were planning to do a lot of walking, we might be in for a change.
