obobber, I've been craving chili and corn bread ever since I read your post. I may have to go to Mimi's for lunch today!

I had double knee replacement so I know how you feel. Our "taking it easy group" would love to have you join us.

Love the watch with the ship. Hope to get one.

We left Ct just in time to come back to FL but it is very cool here- I know - nothing like the 7degrees we had in CT- but it is only about 38 here now. Stayed up last night to watch the last nighttime shuttle go off only to be told- with about 10 minutes before the 4:45 am launch - that is was cancelled! It might go up at 4am tomorrow- who knows-

Just signed up Karen (16) and me for the 11:30 parasailing (changed this from 9:30 when I originally posted it). Anyone else want to move their 9:30 times to 11:30 and make it an all-DISers sail? Maybe then it would take away some of the concern about tandem with strangers.

She really has been waiting to do the waverunners - for a while they were posting a minimum age of 18 to do single rider; now it is showing 16 years. The sign-up page lists all the times as available, but never any that have space for 2 single riders and I can't book her alone.

I'll keep my fingers crossed to get both waverunner and parasail in on one day. My sister will only let me take her on these activities at Castaway Cay.

It is nothing personal and I would love to change to 9:30 BUT I am afraid we would never make it on time. We tend to sleep in and usually do not get off the boat till around 10 or 10:30. We live in Central time so for us that would be 8:30 - meaning getting up for us what would be 6:30 at home. We are just not morning people at all and we already have to get up at 4 am to catch our plane to Orlando - and that is staying at the hotel by the airport! I usually never go to sleep that night because I am so scared of missing our flight.

Lets just say you will most likely never find me on deck watching the sun come up - and if you do - ask me what is wrong :)

I just read great things about Daniel on cruise critic earlier today. :thumbsup2 Would you be willing to move up to their larger vehicle if three of us joined you? If you are and PM the info to Monica we can discuss it in our planning conference call tomorrow. Were you looking a one of their set itineraries, or 'customizing' it? Medeira is all new territory so it doesn't really matter to me.

Yes, it's really called a snowfall and Monica will have to tell you what's in it....I just know it's strawberry flavored and has chunks of granola. They also have it's mango flavored counterpart.

My favorite shipboard 'cruise' drink is a BBC...Baileys banana colada. Oh Yum!

We were able to customize our Madeira excursion. They were very accomodating. For those who have been to Madeira before, did you go to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima? I asked our driver to make a special stop there (namesake of our dd's school) but I can't find anything online about it.

I loved both the snowfall and the mango version. I was drinking a protein shake (I bring my own protein powder) at Lumiere's with our family and the server brought out both for me. So much better than a protein shake!

BBC sounds delish!

I havent been on here since Friday and I was behind 7 pages!!!!

Welcome to all the Newbies!

As far as dining time goes, we prefer to eat the later dinner, but my parents are sailing with us this time and my mom does not want the late dinner, so we switched to the early. I hope we do okay, our past 7 cruises have all been late dinner.

Planning conference call done! Flights and hotels should all be booked by early next week.

Linda, sent you a PM regarding Madeira.:thumbsup2

We will be going straight to London and staying there till Monday and have picked a place to stay. Now Pam (who has never been there) is assigned research to see what she'd most like to do/see. I was there for a week THIRTY years ago and Moncia has been about half a dozen times.

Cadiz is the port I have to do more research on/look at DCL excursions. Somehow it will feel wrong for this former horse owner not to go see the riding academy, but I'd rather learn/see more about the city or look at the Seville excursions.

Lots of hours :surfweb: will be required (like I do anything else anyway!).

I'm going to London straight after the cruise as well. Well, my flight leaves around 4pm, but still going to London. I choose a place close to the airport just so I wouldn't have to lug luggage around. I don't mind the commute into the heart of London for my daily excursions.

I started watching the Tudors to get me in the mood for London. I'm finishing the Tower of London this time. I didn't have enough time the last time I was in London. Interesting place. I might try to figure out how to get out to Hampton Palace as well. One day will be for the British Museum (I have 4 full days - not counting the dates I fly in and out).

My group is parasailing in the 930 am slot. I may be cancelling my slot to save money, but I have 4 others who are definitely going.

We are flying to London right after the cruise ends. I think it's like a 5 pm flight. We are spending a week there and seeing the Tower of London is at the top of our list. We also booked a one day trip to Paris on the eurorail so we can explore the Louvre. I can't wait!

Jealous of you kids getting to play longer in London, but, alas, works calls us back.

Linda, sent another PM regarding Madeira. Just need one response from my team and it looks like we're good to go! :thumbsup2

DIS and facebook are kind of quiet...I guess millions of folks really ARE watching the super bowl! :lmao:

Super Bowl? Heck I don't even have my tv on!!!! :rotfl:

I guess I'll turn it on when my dinner is ready - that or keep watching the Tudors.

No super bowl here...Watchin Ace of Cakes right now :) If I got a charm city cake (which will not likely happen in my lifetime ...they have a minimum order of $1000) I'd like it to to be a DCL ship ! ...Pirate party night !:wizard:

you guys make me want to parasail again .... BUT I am going to save it for the 2011 BTB Dream cruise we are planning :cloud9:

Super bowl? Is that on already? I have tv on but I have so much recorded, I'm about 20 hours behind!

Jackie, is it ok for an 8 passenger van?

Happy Goofy and obobber, I sent you an email about Madeira. As soon as I hear from everyone, I'll email Daniel taxis and set us up. Hope they still have some vans left...

We just cancelled our 8 person van with Daniels Taxi, so there should be one there for you :)

YES, it's a GO. :thumbsup2 Will end official PM.

We selected our B&B in London, another checkmark on the to do list. :woohoo:

Thanks so much! But what are you doing instead? Any reason we shouldn't do this?

We just decided to do the Cable Car and Toboggan on our own. The other stuff we weren't all that interested in. His tours get incredible reviews, but cost wise for just the stuff we want it didn't price out :)

Dee,
Please add me to your group for the second Palo Brunch Seating.
I have no pre-booked reservations so there is nothing to cancel or obstruct your bookling.
Still don't have enough postings to do PM's. Maybe I will before sailing?

To Diversions Game Group.
Anyone interested in playing chess? I like the game enough to schedule regular playing dates. But I am not very good at it. So anyone who wants to play me can count on sure wins. Like taking candy from a baby, (I promise I won't cry about losing).

YEAH MORE PALO BRUNCH PEOPLE! Come on kids, we're getting there. Geeze, better get our friends booked on this cruise!

Thanks everyone for the replies about early vs. late dinner.

It sounds like late will work better for us given the time change and all that. If the kids are hungry earlier we can snag a snack some where.

We are from Maryland, near DC too (Silver Spring). Survived the snowpocalypse with 30" or so of snow, power out for about 20 hours, and two trees came down in our yard. Spent three hours shoveling the driveway today - I am feeling it now.

Looking forward to lazing away on the at sea days. Can't wait.
