ok I am now going out and seeing what it will cost me to bring my MIL along - she doesn't have the money to pay for everything so I have to figure out how to do this - I will have to put her in a cabin by herself as we know no one who can come along and share a cabin with her. This single thing is going to hurt isn't it?

I am off to see what I can do!

Krisann

Would she fit in your room, I know she would be over the room limit, but would she fit if she were booked say on someone else's reservation that has room for an add on?

Finally caught up. I'm in for cabin tag. Found my flight info. Got a non-stop to Philly on the 24th--wow!

Barcelona straight to Philly?

...But they do also speak some spanish in Barcelona - if she speaks spanish there they will understand her. :thumbsup2

Wait until you try to understand her English. :lmao:
She talks faster than her tongue can handle.

AuntLynne, I don't think I ever got back to you. If it is not too late we would like to be included in the lanyards. It would be Me (Tabitha) and DH (Mike). Let me know what else you need from me.

Do you want Donald or no Donald on your name tag?

Ok so a question (maybe it was answered in the 226:eek: pages of posts but I don't really want to go back and read it all) The outlets in the bathrooms... can they handle curling irons and the such? My parents are doing the WB cruise in September and they were asking. This will be their first Disney cruise! I couldn't remember what the answer was.

They are labeled "shavers only."

OK, after two weeks of frantic (mostly for Monica) plans and arrangements....what do I need to do next?...

TAXES!

...This single thing is going to hurt isn't it?...

It's almost like paying for two people - I think you basically save the government fees and port charges for missing person.

Thats so funny that you should say that, my DH just said to me yesterday that we should bring my MIL on the cruise and book her in a cat 12 room. I told him we would have to pay the price of the whole stateroom, plus her airfare back and that would be too much.

...We did call and we did complain when the price went down from $799 to $699, and I escalated to a supervisor. It makes me wonder, "If I just shut up, maybe we would have been sprinkled more? Maybe they would have taken pity on me and bumped me up more?"...

When I called and they wouldn't drop the rate $100 per person (without incurring a $1200 penalty), I told them, "In that case, I'd like to cancel a few future cruises - and then cancelled next year's PC and a Dream 3-nighter."

Yeah, like that'll show them - the price on the PC is already $500 higher (solo rate) than when I bought it and the Dream will be pulling them in for some time to come, I imagine. They won't have any problems filling those cabins. And they knew I didn't cancel 4 cabins to Alaska.

I was afraid all that might have gone on my "Permanent Record" at DCL and I would actually get one of those Cat 12s - none of us have, have we? We think we did fine by getting a Deck 6 midship 11 - knocked out one of the factors in seasickness. We've done Deck 5, Deck 5, Deck 6 on previous cruises, so we don't know how higher decks affect my nausea (the patch certainly does impact in a positive way).

PS: Make sure you check the spelling of your names on Dee's Master Spread Sheet

(My attempt at pasting that link here takes you to a Google sign-in page).

Cat 12 solo, no transfers, no insurance is $1050 if memory serves (looked it up for my sister last week).

not unless she is sleeping between my husband and I and since I have not seen him since Christmas it will NOT happen!

:) Lets put them in a room together and tell them it is either that or they do not go :) The total for 2 without transfers or insurance is $1500 and for one it is $1064 for the same configuration. :) And then let them be each other's secret Mickey and see if they figure it out :)

Many people have mentioned enjoying various craft hobbies. How many of you enjoy scrapbooking? Just looking for others that enjoy the same hobby as me.

I'm not bringing scrapbook stuff to work on as there just isn't enough room in an airplane to bring my crap (I'm mean scrap) stuff back. :rotfl2:

Kristi

I am, I am. But shhhhhhhhh don't tell DH. Just a few mini-books and adhesives. Its my therapy.

So sorry for your bad day and MRI woes. I can really understand your frustration. :grouphug:

We've done something similar w/ my mom on 2 cruises and planned a med cruise next fall.

My SIL will do the chores and the house sitter will watch them for the rest of the day.

nice!

This is actually not a terrible idea if they would both agree to it.

LOL I shared an inside room w/ my mom & husband in Alaska...still not sure how we worked it, but we all had a great time.

GREAT SPREADSHEETS!!!

Lynne...Yes, I just double checked. I got a 9hr5m nonstop to Philly. Question for those who've used Disney air: I didn't see a seat assignment. Do I do that myself or does Disney do it? When I did a TA on Celebrity, they had to do the seat assignment.

I used Magic Express for my last stay at WDW. Cruise buses are by baggage claim as I recall. I was traveling with carryon only. But I think you got your bags, got into the bus line, and the buses left as they were filled up. Since I work Friday, I'll fly in on Sat morning--arriving about 10:30. Hope I can get right on a bus and off to the port promptly so the fun can begin.

Well based on calling DCL several times myself this does not surprise me....seems you can call 3 different times, get three different answers...

I was surprised that DCL upgrades people that book specific cabins. This is my first DCL cruise, but my experience with HAL is that if you book a specific cabinet they might try to up sell you, but rarely upgrade you on your own.

About 10 days ago, DCL advised they wouldn't upgrade anyone if they already had a specific room booked.

About 5 days ago, DCL advised they upgraded DVC-points-cruisers just as often as cash cruisers.

Then today ... I was told DCL NEVER upgrades anyone. Soooo many answers to choose from. Geez, I don't know that there are any other options (stories) available! :lmao:

As for HAL, we booked our 20th Anniversary cruise on Noordham / 2006. We booked a specific, mid-ship verandah stateroom. We were upgraded one deck higher (still a verandah), without ever asking. Hmmm, my odds have been MUCH better with HAL! :confused3 Go figure!

I purchased the Creative memories software last week to try my hand at digital scrapping. DH is happy as I make such a mess with all my bits and pieces with my traditional scrapbooks.;)

Well if you have any questions on the cruise (if you are bringing your stuff) let me know - I love working with it and will be glad to help. Did you buy Memory manager and Storybook Creator?

If you got Storybook Creator make sure to go and buy the Disney digital packs!

Krisann

hello all,

Congrats to those with the upgrades, we booked a secret porthole room as did my mom, and we were not one of the lucky ones to get upgraded. Oh well, such is life. Not sure i understand DCL logic seems somewhat messed up, I agree 100% with Brooklyn on this one.

Got our air from DCL,originally flying Delta from Buffalo with a stopover then to MCO Sat. morning Coming home, Barcelona to JFK with a 5 hour stopover. Then we get an email that the layover is now 8 hours so because the change was more than 90 min. we were able to make some changes to our itenary without penalty. So we are now flying out on the Thurs. before WOO HOO!! so there is no rush to get to port day of! from the airport!! Doesnt change the crappy air coming home, unfortunately there were no flights available but it opened the door for us to make free changes!!

All I know is I cannot wait to sip on a Bon Voyage drink at the sail away party!!!!! Bring it on!!!

That nonstop doesn't surprise me...I'm not on the TA, but I'm on the first 11 day Med, and our 1 layover from St. Louis is Philly, then direct to Barcelona after that. Philly must be a Barcelona hub:)

I bought the storybook creator V3. I was looking at the disney packs online from the US site last night. We don't have disney digital packs available here. My CM lady said she had heard additional disney packs were being released over the next few months. I dont think I will bring the laptop (weight) but I'd love to have a look see at some of your pages.;)

When we went to Disneyland last I prepared one of their books online which was fun.

I also used Disney air and have a 10:45am nonstop flight back to Newark on the 24th. Seats are already assigned. I had Disney email me a copy of the res., then checked the airline's website for more info.

My BIL and SIL are probably on your flight. They live in Wilmington, DE. They are flying straight to Philly as well. Whereas we are flying to JFK then to BOS.

We've never gotten an great upgrade on HAL (one category maybe). But we have booked popular cruises (usually sold out at the 45 day mark). First three were when I was in grad school, so the only week we could go was Spring Break. Then we did 15 day circle Hawaii (I think we booked an obstructed view and got a unobstructed view). Then we did B2B Alaska. Our last cruise was our honeymoon and was over Thanksgiving.

I told my hubby that I'm only booking April TA on DCL from now on. But then I realized that would mean I wouldn't go on many cruises....

oh goodness I did not realize that those outside of the country could not do the instant downloads from the site. I just do the downloads and not order the cd's. I will be glad to show off my albums on the cruise!

I was suppose to be on that flight but my TA moved me to the later flight so as she put it "I don't have to wait at the airport for the transfer to the ship for a few hours". I don't know about where the bus is but I was told they would find us at baggage.
We're getting hit with the snow as well and our lights keep flickering...I should be gathering flashlights instead of being on DIS!

I found info. in other posts to answer my questions...after LOTS of reading (I spend way too much time on these boards) but appreciate the input. It appears we won't have to wait very long for the bus transfer, but I'm sure we'll have extra time at the port before boarding. Actually, I prefer to be early than late, so it's all good.

I know what you mean about the flashlights...our lights flickered several times (it's a blizzard outside) but never went out, and I couldn't pull myself away from the computer to grab a candle! It's an addiction ! :surfweb:
