i buy most of my groceries at walmart super center as well and don't think it's fair that it doesn't count. i signed up for the promo just in case but i don't think i will get there either because of the walmart thing and i don't buy gas because i get company gas so i'm pretty much not going to get anything from it.

Well I bought 1k worth of Disney Gift cards at GIANT EAGLE which is a large grocery store in Western Pa. I maxed out my advantage card to save 60.00 on gas tonight and hoping the 1k will be 3% when charged ot my disney visa card...So if my math is correct 60 in free gas plus 30 in disney rewards for a total of 90.00 - almost like 10% off when buying disney visa cards.....

Mine is $200. Why is it that they are so stingy with the rewards when so many others are so generous??? I only keep it because I love Disney sooo much!

The $200 is the amount of bonus you can earn in 3 months. It's really not that stingy. You can earn all the regular Disney Dollars you like, no limit on that (or at least there wasn't one) The regular portion of the Disney dollars doesn't count toward that $200 either just the bonus portion of 2%.

Just got in the mail today enroll and earn 3% instead of 1% from April thru June. PERFECT timing for my June trip!!!!!I need all the help I can get! I will pay off the rest of my trip at the end of April and earn a bit more cash.

we use our for everything, and pay it off every month also... and we got the offer... so keep checking your mailbox - you never know! I've even had my monthly bills paid automatically to this card. Instead of sending in the phone, the cabel, etc each month.. I only have to pay 1 bill... . and I earn points on it!

And they are sending emails regarding signing up for insurance direct payments with a $10 Disney Dollar bonus. I got that a few weeks ago (thought it was one of the 3 or 5 times bonus offers! when I saw the sender.)

I tried to use the 5X rewards points for my previous trip....but it turns out that the points don't go onto your account like regular points do (appearing in the next cycle). They said it takes three more months for the bonus reward points to appear. So OP, if you earn reward points for April to June, these aren't going to be available to use until at least July. I was upset when this happened to me, but when I called them they said there was nothing they could do. But I'm finally getting a chance to use them this trip!

Yes, there is lag time on the bonus portion of the points. I received the Oct 1 to Nov 30 (2 months worth) on my Dec 26 stmt and the Dec bonus portion on my Jan 26, 2010 stmt. I was lucky since our trip started Feb 5th! I had them mail me a card with $10 and had the rest transferred while there (takes a minute) Just my experience. There is no rhyme or reason how they post the bonus portion except it's definetly after the stmt for the actual statement month. (the bonus portion goes from the first of the month to monthend NOT the stmt date-pain to calculate exp. if you have categories!)

I'm confused! I got the 3X reward today. I have a $1000 minimum. I am always over $1000 (I charge almost everything on the card each month and pay off in full at the end of the month). I understand the 3X rewards only comes after the $1000 threshold is met, BUT, does that mean that 3X rewards is only earned on qualifying purchases after the balance has reached $1000, or do we get 3X on ALL qualifying purchases throughout the month so long as the total at the end of the month is $1000?

In other words, if I start with $0 balance, and charge gas and groceries on day one, will those charges be eligible for 3X at the end of the cycle, so long as the total is $1000 +?

Help?

It's only earned on the charges over the threshold.

You know this is why this card stinks!! Discover give 5x rewards for SOMETHING every month, anyone can sign up on their website and the rewards are paid out right away in the next billing cycle . There is also no minimums, just whatever you spend in that month in that catagory is 5x rewards. Also their catagories are very general and broad. At Christmastime, they had 2x rewards for all online shopping (anything). They also have an affilate site which is links that if you shop through them and use your Discover card you get a % back in rewards dollars, some of them are 10 or 15%. Then when you cash out, you can get cash or if you choose GC you get more than the face value (like 20pts for a $25.00 GC).

This isn't meant to be an ad for Discover LOL just to showcase the point that DV is sooooo stingy with their rewards points and it seems like they go out of their way to make it hard to get them. I keep the card for the promos (like getting FD early ) but really so many other cards are so much better.

The threshold portion has to be made up of the categories (if you have them) as well as the amout over to get the bonus (and each month). So, with 1000 threshold you would have to charge a lot of the qualified purchases to get any bonus. If you spent 1500 on the qualified items, you would earn the bonus on the 500 (which is only 10 extra dollars) Hard to get any bonus dollars with high thresholds and categories. We were lucky for the Oct - Dec offer to have a $250 threshold and no categories. I don't have this current offer, but sounds like the same thing with a lower bonus amt (3 instead of 5 times) The only amts applied toward the bonus are qualified items (the first 1000 as well as the amt over) The regular Disney Dollars will be posted as always. The bonus portion is on the ACTUAL month (1st - month end) not your stmt date. The bonus is posted from 1-2 stmt cycles after the month they are earned. Confusing to keep track of.

If no categories are listed than it's for all purchases. We had the no category offer Oct-Dec and it was great! You can call but you would see the categories on a list if you had them.

I agree they are pretty stingy...especially considering this is promoted in a big glossy flyer like its some great deal!
We are not buying airfare, and rarely dine out (saving for WDW!) so we would have to "spend above $750 EACH month" just in groceries, gas. I would swear they figure out how much a particular cardholder spend on the categories per month and then sets their thresehold to just where they barely earn anything in bonus.

I got the same mailing: "3X for every eligible dollar you spend above $750 each month - April 1 to June 30, 2010". (the fine print says it excludes things like balance transfers, cash advances - things that never earn points or rewards.) I love how they refer to the $750 as the "specified hurdle"!!

I've had the Disney card since 11/08 and this is the 1st pin code I got. Unfortunately, it's not going to be too useful this time b/c I put all my gas and groceries on a another Chase card I have that earns 5%. And with no airfare to buy, I just have the dining category left to earn extra.
Not sure if this is everyone's fine print but it does also say the card would have to be open as of 10.01.09 so that may be why some people didn't receive it.

We got this promo card last Friday in the mail. I checked my statements to see what category Jewel and Dominick's belonged to and instead of groceries, it says other. I guess I won't be getting any extra points for those

Sometimes statements say other but when you call and get your charges over the automated phone service, it says grocery. My daughter had that happen to her-looking onlline said other but calling said grocery! Worth the toll free call to check it out! 800 300 8575

Hmm, never noticed Jewel was listed as an "other" category until it was mentioned here and I went looking at my statements. I work on the pharmacy side so I purchase something from Jewel almost daily and not very often at other grocery stores b/c of the convenience factor. Wonder what's different about Jewel or Dominick's that the category can't be changed to reflect grocery?

I see that different people have different thresholds- I was already planning to come on here and ask because I received mine today. We have a $1,000 threshold.

Another question- do we all have the same maximum? Mine is $100.

Mine is a $500 threshold with a max of 100 bonus points. In my fine print it says I would have to spend $5000 over the threshold to receive the max of 100 points which I don't think I'll do on dining alone!

On the back of my postcard (by my address) and on the inside flap, it specifically says the 4 categories. Looks like if you have no specifics, you made out with a pretty good deal

I have had the Disney Rewards Visa for 2 years and have yet to receive a 3x or 5x offer. For that matter, the ONLY perk we received was a discount for $5 or $10 from Lowes..Woopee (NOT!). Anyway, I called and asked why we never get the bonus offers. We charge everything on it and pay it off monthly. I thought this might be the reason we didn't get the offer but my daughter pays her card off monthly as well and she just received the 3X offer in the mail this week. The rep on the phone said that the offers were random. I told her that I was so tired of hearing that excuse. I told her they had no problem remembering to include my name when they increased everyone's interest rate this year!!! Well, of course that remark probably put me on the blacklist for ever getting it now! Oh well, I'll just keep wishing!
