3x disney visa reward points now thru June

i got the 3x offer with a $1250 threshold, almost didn't even bother to sign up.

It is frustrating, but I would never NOT sign up if it's offered. You never know when you might get hit with large expenses (home repairs, car repairs doctor bills) and if something bad happens and you have to lay out unexpected money, you might as well get the points to soften the blow.

Agreed. Rather than complain over this threshold or this or how often will i do xyz ... IT IS FREE. Sign up. If you earn nothing extra - so be it. You weren't promised by signing up for the card you would. It is just a "free gimmee" if you exceed the amount in the categories...You never know. Takes 30 seconds to sign up on line...

oh i signed up, but i don't charge groceries or dining, and i don't fly. gas is really the only thing i ever charge on it, besides the ocassional online purchase, or DW college tuition, but i'll come close with gas each month, just probably won't max them out.

I have had a Disney Visa for a few years, pay it off almost ever month (there have been a few times it has taken 2 months) and this is the first offer I have ever received. My limit is $750. Hoping all dining counts as we are getting married in June with lunch at the Napa room and a dessert party that night. I bet Disney won't charge it as food but some misc wedding expense for whatever reason but I am hoping they charge it as food.

I love my Disney Visa and charge everything but reading this thread makes me want to go out and find a card with better rewards. I like Disney rewards because it is "free" trip money but maybe I need to explore my options.

amyy I am with you.I have had the disney rewards card since Day 1. I think this is my last year using it as a primary card. AMEX pays me 3% cash back...why do I settle for 1%??? I can keep the disney card for internet purchases but make amex my day to day card with disney as back up. I guess mentally I like seeing disney only money but I am robbing myself really....;)

I will look into the AMEX one-thanks for the tip. (I may even have that one but only use my Disney card) Disney really has us because of the mental game :)

For the last couple months I switched to my other Chase credit card for their 5% promotion. The total balance on my Disney Visa for last month was $300. By doing this, when I received the current 3X promotion instead of my usual "spend anything over $3,000 each month" it is now $750!! That I can definitely do!! So, I am suggesting that if you have an alternate credit card with a decent point system, I would switch to it for a couple months and "trick" Disney Visa into thinking you are no longer using your credit card. Good luck everyone!! :thumbsup2

Thats a really good tip!! i had the offer that ran Jan, Feb, and March, I had to spend $3000 each month, and each one hundred dollars I spent AFTER reaching that magic 3K was awarded 3x the points. THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY TO PUT ON A CREDIT CARD IN A MONTH :(. I booked a summer vacation, and another in the Fall of 2011 and managed to make extra points .... I just receive another offer today for the same deal -- spend $3000 per month in April - July, there's just no way I can make that happen. I think I'll do what the previous poster said and switch to another card that's offering a better program .... maybe, hopefully, Disney Rewards Visa will send me an offer more realistic. Please understand that I am NOT complaining, I'm happy that I was able to earn extra points, but never in my life have I charged $3000 a month on a credit card.

Same for us. We received the same promo you did for 3X's after the $3,000. I thought that was crazy..but then realized we had some tuition payments coming up and put them on the card. The timing was right. While I was pleased we would be getting the extra points, it now appears we have received the current promo, again with the same minimum. 3X's after the 3,000 threshold.
I'm so annoyed. I think I'm gonna do as suggested here and not use this card for a couple of months and hope future offers bring the threshold down.

Thanks for the info. I prob wont get one. We use ours for everthing and pay it off everymonth.

We do too, but I have gotten offers from time to time. I got one last week for 3x rewards in the categories of airlines, hotels, and rental cars, from April 15 - July 15. It's for purchases above $500 in these categories. Seeing that we're doing a big trip out west this summer, we ought to earn a few bonus rewards. Definitely won't max it out, though!

Did anyone recently become a Disney visa cardholder? I am considering getting one for the free dining so I can book it now IF they give instant credit and I can get my acct # before Monday.

Am I even crazy to worry? I have to work Mon and wouldn't be able to book until Monday night. Will there still be free dining options then? How quickly does it sell out?

I called Chase and it is totally marketing. They choose a group of people on whatever they are targeting. I spoke with a very nice person and she said she would send a note to Marketing but what good did it do? That was six months ago and still nothing. So whatever statitics or whatever they use to send out those, I am never on it.

Hi,
I think ists just crazy on the different reward offers...mine is 3xreward above $250 gas, grocery, dining. My concern is how they labeled the purchases...All my grocery purchases so far are labeled (other) and gas is labeled (vehicle expenses)...this is my first offer and i usually don't use credit...are these labels chase has used the norm? concerned i'll get jipped...

Thanks
G

I too was worried about being jipped so I called Chase directly and spoke to an agent about my purchases and they went through each purchase I had made and they seemed to be coded correctly on their end. ie. vehicle expense was actually coded for gas on my gas purchases and one of my grocery store purchases that was labeled (other) for me was in fact grocery for them so you may want to call and check out what they have you as.

Does anyone know how they calculate the dates they use? Is it based on purchases actually made in May, posted in May or by our payment due dates or some other way? Just want to make sure that we get ours in correctly! Oh, and Can get you get triple points just in one month if you don't meet the threshold the other months? I got the flier that probably explained all this but threw it out after I signed up!

yeah I'm hoping someone can answer this, I'm just totally confused? the post dates said from 4/15-5/15 etc.....but my bill comes at the first of the month. So do I just look at all charges I made 4/15-5/15 lets say I did pay $350 for those categories which is $100 above my $250 threshhold, does that mean I get $2 instead of $1 but only on that $100 extra I spent? So I would have a total of 4 disney dollars for the $350? and do they shop up as bonus ones later on down the road so I can determine if I have gotten my correct bonus dollars?:confused3 :headache:

If you look at your statement online it makes more sense for the charges. The Disney reqrds don't post until after the 15th. I called yesterday cause I was panicing that they weren't showing up yet.
