3 Generations! 2 Resorts! 10 Days! DxDp! 3000 Pictures! - Saying Good-Bye!

I just read a few more pages - yes, I have been quite slow at catching up lol But I love all of your pictures from CR. I think that might be where we are going to stay next time. I really want to stay there, and since MK is my favourite park, the monorail resorts are my favourite. I love all of your pictures, and I think that you must be able to get a good Christmas card picture by the time this TR is over, you have such a beautiful family!

I've always wanted to do the BBQ, DD6 has some issues with the dinner shows..same reason we can't do the GF RPC :confused3. Packing :rotfl2: I'm so far behind...AND procrastating. All good though, I work best under pressure :rotfl:

Sounds like y'all were off to a good start at the BBQ. I LOVE the picture of Jesse with the corn in his mouth! Too cute! When we went in December, Reid loved Cyclone Sally! He would go & kneel on the boxes right in front of the stage & just stare at her. She kept waving to him. I can't wait to see some boot scootin' pictures!

The boxes were a prime spot to say the least....however they made all the kids get down....everyone was going wild! And every picture I've ever seen of the BBQ, Cyclone Sally is the same woman...surely they have more than one!

I don't think Ive actually seen pictures off the BBQ! I knew it existed, but we've never been.

Y'all might want to hold out on a visit:laughing: Wait to you have some kiddos........and like I'm so sure you were really planning a trip to eat there, right?!

Ive never been to the BBQ so I had NO idea how it was run. I never would have imagined it like that, you can tell it is very casual. Im surprised by something that casual at WDW.

Can't wait to hear all about the show!

You certainly don't want to dress up...it's outside, on picnic tables, lots of dancing around chasing kids:laughing: but loads of fun for parents....or at least for me;)

I'd also heard about the BBQ but never seen any photos before. It looks like a lot of fun - especially for kids!

Definitely fun for kids....solo adults or couples:confused:....probably not so much:laughing:

Thanks! If you like the MK, then you'll love the convenience of the CR. You definitely should give it a try. And would you believe that I think I found our Christmas Card picture?! All these pics, and there are only a couple that I want to use:laughing: I'll post it later with the Citricos review.

STOP procrastinating and get yourself busy! Are the kids driving you crazy, yet with the "when is it time to go" questions!? What's up with DD not liking RPC:confused3 Does she know what she's missing:laughing: And just think...you basically have back to back trips!!!!:dance3:

Thanks! Are y'all doing lunch or dinner at R&C in February? And if you like eggs, that Scotch Egg is out of this world!!!:thumbsup2

We're doing lunch, right when it opens at 12:00. I'm hoping that since we're there right away we'll have a good shot at an outdoor table. :thumbsup2

I may have to consider the Scotch Egg--I wasn't so sure reading the menu description, but I certainly love eggs!

oh this looks like fun I cant wait to hear the rest. Glad you got good seats. Your dad shaved his beard didnt he? kinda threw me off for a second.:rotfl2: I love that they bring you the lemonade while your waiting. That is a great idea and only disney would think of that.

Wow - I got all behind again. Gah!

I loved the Epcot updates. So cool that you got to watch some entertainment while waiting at R&C. I am looking forward to seeing some of the WS entertainment this year. I loved Epcot, but we had so little time that we missed more than we experienced. That will definitely be different this year!

Are there fun things for younger kids at Innoventions? Everything looks so fun in your pictures, but I've never been sure whether they would be fun for little kids too. I know you said that it probably would not have been as fun for your littler ones, so do you think it is best for us to just skip it for a few years?

Have you ever done the pick-a-pearl thing at Japan (or DTD or Beach Club)? I am really thinking of doing this with my daughter this trip.

I'm so interested in the BBQ info and pics. I've read reviews of this, but I've never gotten a good feel for what it is like. Your pictures really make it more real! :woohoo:

....does your little girl realize that time is approaching quickly? If she's like my 4 year old, he frequently ask when our Disney trip will be...he doesn't get the whole 'time' thing

Oh yeah! We have to discuss it every day! :rotfl: And I suppose when we return, we will start talking about the cruise everyday. :lmao: And, little does she know, but I decided this week to surprise her with a trip to Disneyland for her birthday - not going to tell her where we're going until we walk into the park on her birthday! :cheer2:

Dh brought down A suitcase, and said "You can make it work mom" :rotfl: I put it in the closet. He is insane. One suitcase for 7 people....I WILL start my packing list-I have a shopping list of odds and ends. A lot of the stuff I need (esp baby stuff) I'm going to pick up at Publix when we get there. My DD  she had Anxiety/OCD- they were saying ADD, but she was re-eval by Neurodevelopmental recently. She thought it would be too noisy when she saw the orchestra and piano. She liked the "quiet" pictures of SL...ie. no piano. If HRH is happy, everyone will be happy. She loves the look of the main building, but she said if its too loud she will get a headache. Oh, and the doctor that saw her......A Disney Fan (and GF fan)-they hit it off instantly! 11 days!!!! All the kiddos are involved with the countdown :cheer2:

I am finally all caught up! I am really enjoying your TR, you have such a happy, enthusiastic way of writing about Disney - just my style!

I love your report on the Pirates League. My brother was never really into all of that pirates stuff, so we have never done it, but it looks like a lot of fun! I love how your whole family gets involved!

V&A's also looks wonderful. It is definitely something I would like to experience, but I am afraid of my plain, vegetarian palate lol I am glad that you enjoyed it, and your report was really insightful! I am really glad you posted it!

Your early morning pictures are gorgeous! That is also something I enjoy to do, and definitely plan on getting some on my upcoming trip!

We spent some time in Innoventions on our last trip, and like you, I was also pleasantly surprised by all of the activities that they have in there!

Looking forward to reading the rest!

You should try it...if you really like eggs, then you'll love it. I agree about the description on the menu. I wondered about it myself but was pleasantly surprised.

 You're the first one that noticed or has said anything about dad's beard. Last year, he grew one for the PL and kept it the entire trip. I think mom had something to do with him shaving it off:rolleyes1

Are you still running? I've had a bit of a set back...got to see the Dr. on Monday about my knee and major shin splints:eek: Oh well....that's life, I guess.

Wow - I got all behind again. Gah!

There's always MORE to do at EP than time allows. There are many things that I haven't seen due to having the kids with us. There's a great acrobat show over by China! Your daughter might be interested in that:confused3

Hmmmm....lots of little children were in there. However the things that we did required a bit of reading. My 4 year old has no patience at ALL, so I know he would get bored easily. DD5 might be okay without the little brother tagging along. Not sure though that she would understand everything. That being said...we only did things that DS9 wanted to do....I didn't take a look at some of the other activities that the smaller children were involved in. You might want to walk through there and see what you think. She might spot something that she wants to try...ya never know.

Have you ever done the pick-a-pearl thing at Japan (or DTD or Beach Club)? I am really thinking of doing this with my daughter this trip.

We've never done this...let me know how it goes. Sounds like something fun for a mother & daughter.:thumbsup2

No kidding??!!! Holy cow! She's gonna flip! That's an awesome b-day surprise. One day we're going to get out to California and visit Disneyland. I've always wanted to take DH to San Diego and San Fran...not a huge fan of LA, but I'll make the sacrifice if I can go to DL:laughing:

:rotfl: Let me know how the packing goes for 7 with 1 lone suitcase! That's great that she and the dr. made a connection:thumbsup2 And how funny that he likes the GF, too. I'm sure she'll be quite happy with SL.....wouldn't we all:laughing: By the way...in just few hours, you'll be down to 10 days:dance3:

I am finally all caught up! I am really enjoying your TR, you have such a happy, enthusiastic way of writing about Disney - just my style!

Thanks! We're enjoying doing the TR...wish I could get more done but work gets in the way:laughing: I REALLY want to get those old photos posted, but can't seem to get around to scanning them...my parents will be home in a couple of weeks, so maybe I'll give that scanning job to dad:laughing:

I love your report on the Pirates League. My brother was never really into all of that pirates stuff, so we have never done it, but it looks like a lot of fun! I love how your whole family gets involved!

"All for one, and one for all"....so they say...except for DH...'Too cool for school' We give Bill a hard time about that Pirate CM calling him that:laughing:

V&A's also looks wonderful. It is definitely something I would like to experience, but I am afraid of my plain, vegetarian palate lol I am glad that you enjoyed it, and your report was really insightful! I am really glad you posted it!

Thanks! JMO....but that's the best time at WDW...I love it!!:lovestruc

Was Wondering if anyone would notice. You are very observant. ;) Quite out of charactor for me to have a beard but a GrandPa will do crazy things for his grands. The children REALLY enjoyed the show and I think the 9 year old -Stephen - had at least 3 Mickey Mouse fudge covered icecream bars - think I had 2 myself. :woohoo: Great time for the Grands.:thumbsup2 Your children will love it.:yay:

Yeah, I think it will be pretty fun!!! I haven't been since I was a kid, so I'm excited to see it again, and I really hope I can pull off the surprise!!

LOVE San Francisco. I lived there before I moved up here and really miss it. Well, except for the ridiculous cost of living and the commute! You definitely need to plan a Cali trip - just live it up in SF, hit up Disneyland, bypass LA and head straight to SD! :thumbsup2

He did have at least 3 bars...you're right!! Jesse had 2. I think I grabbed one in between songs.

You can pull it off!!! Don't crack and give it away:laughing: Last October, we surprised our kids with a mini trip to WDW. When DH got home, we told the kids to jump in the car...we had to go somewhere. When we started driving....we said, "guess what?! We're going to Disney!" They didn't believe us:laughing: It was great!!

LOVE, LOVE San Fran, but you are so right....it's expensive! Not sure how people afford to live out there. When I was a flight attendant, San Diego & San Fran were 2 of my favorite places to lay over. SD has the best climate...it was never too hot or at least not hot like south Georgia.

Don't forget....keep you mouth closed! No telling your daughter!!!

Mickey’s Backyard BBQ – Part 2
Fort Wilderness Campgrounds
Day 8

While eating, the characters started making their appearances. Since there were 3 dance floors, they were all spread out.

DSC_4362.gif

DSC_4365.gif

Notice the masses of children! It looks chaotic and it was….but not in a bad way. Our kids were having a ball. I did find that the smaller dance floors were less crowded and it was easier to maneuver around and get pictures.

DSC_4367.gif

While all the dancing was going on, DS9 was eating Mickey Bars! He was in heaven!!! If I’m not mistaken, he didn’t get on the dance floor and dance, but still had a great time watching the show.

DSC_4399.jpg

I believe the characters were out for around 15 minutes or so, then they would sneak off. During the character free times, there was always something going on for entertainment….no downtime! At one point, this guy came out and did an awesome job with showing off his lasso tricks. All 3 of my kids loved this….as well as me.

IMG_6521.jpg

They allowed all the children to sit around the main dance floor....much easier for them to see if you didn’t have a great seat at one of the picnic tables.

DSC_4381.jpg

DSC_4383.jpg

It was time once again for the characters to make their way back out.....

DSC_4371.gif

Needless to say, Goofy was extremely popular. We stayed with him just a minute, then I took the kids back to the smaller dance floors where it was less crowded. Also…here’s a tip for all parents….if you wait until the last showing with the characters, it will be less crowded!! People start leaving about half way through……but you better believe I was staying for the WHOLE thing….gonna get my money’s worth:laughing:

DSC_4373.jpg

Well….not only did the kids enjoy the ice cream….the grandparents did, too. Then I look over and Stephen is on his second ice cream!!! Then he had a 3rd!!!

IMG_6527.jpg

DSC_4377.jpg

DSC_4379.jpg

After our brief dessert break, it was back out to the dance floor for a little Boot Scootin’ Boogie with Cyclone Sally and Tumbleweed Will!

DSC02413.jpg

The characters came back out one last time….and like I said….the crowd was very thin, so the kids really got one-on-one attention from them. Parents, be patient and wait it out….very worth it! :thumbsup2 After the last character appearing, the dance floor was cleared and the show progressed to the finale.

IMG_6509.gif

All the characters came out on the dance floor, the band played several songs, and the crowd clapped and cheered! I believe they played a couple of patriotic songs….I look over and my mom had tears in her eyes!

DSC_4414.jpg

It was a terrific ending to say the least!!! Disney always does it right! I was soooooooo very glad that we stayed until the very end. The entire experience would not have been complete without the finale of the show.

We probably won’t do this on our next trip….not that we didn’t love it…we certainly did. But, our oldest son is almost too old for it. I really wish that we had taken Stephen to the BBQ when he was 6 (that was his first trip) Faith and Jesse were the perfect ages!!!!! If we wait a couple of years to return, our children will be on the older side for something like this.:confused3

So, parents….if you are debating on what to do….take the kiddos when they are young!! Don’t wait until they are 8, 9, 10ish….not sure they would appreciate the experience. Expect chaos….because there will be lots! And in order to truly enjoy the BBQ….get out there with your kids and dance! I loved it!!!:dancer:

Since we weren’t quick to get out, we did have a bit of a wait on the boat! Like a 25 minute wait! The kids were tired (and me too!) So they were a handful while waiting…acting crazy…jumping around like insane children.

DSC_4430.jpg

Once on the boat, Pop and I tried to get some nighttime photos, but it was a bit difficult without all the movement.

Finally back home….the CR was looking beautiful and those comfy beds were calling my name! I was EXHAUSTED!

IMG_6545.jpg

We had an unbelievably great time with the children! I highly recommend the BBQ for small kids…in fact…I think it’s a must-do Disney experience! :thumbsup2

Up next….Cinderella’s Royal Table for breakfast!!!

I love those Mickey ice creams! Scared I'd lose my little guy in the crowd, maybe a visit when we are not there in August. My 2012 trip DH doesn't know about yet ;)

OK Heather,
I'm REALLY going to start to pack. Just started some :laundy:

Oh, that looks like so much fun!!! Wonder if it is only during the summer months? Would love to take DGD in late October!

Love your pics, Heather...kids are soo cute...grandparents look so happy! Oh, and the way you frame them - is that from photobucket? I have to learn how to do that!

I'm still catching up...must go back to read about your arrival at CR. :)

(Pack? Did someone mention they still need to pack? Heck, you have DAYS to pack!!!:rolleyes1:dance3:)

Great update, Heather! Love all the pictures, as usual! I wish we had been able to stay for the finale when we had taken Reid last December. Little turkey - running away from us! :headache: Maybe we'll go back soon while he's still little & actually get to see the ending. I can't wait to hear about breakfast at CRT. I've always wanted to go there just to be eating in the castle.

Not sure how old your little guy is, but I would definitely stick close to him if you go! We took Reid last December while he was 2. We stayed on the dance floor with him. But, in the sea of kids, he bolted & was gone just like that! I did find him quickly but it felt like he was missing 5 hours! I've never felt so scared & sick!

Hi Heather! You have a lovely family. :goodvibes

It took me a little while but I found you... subscribing. Now time to start reading...:surfweb:

:lmao: I'm hopeless. I can do it in one day. No worries, well some worries. Heather really is doing a great job with this TR. The BBQ does look like so much fun :goodvibes

Brian is 2 1/2, and the type to run away. Way too nerve racking! When we go anywhere I constantly "count the children".

Then you would definitely want to keep a good hold of him if y'all go to the BBQ! :rotfl:
