3 Generations! 2 Resorts! 10 Days! DxDp! 3000 Pictures! - Saying Good-Bye!

We always went to 'Ohana for breakfast, never for dinner. I had no clue how popular their dinner was until I started to DIS!

Ed really wanted to try Ohana on our last trip but the only ADR that kept pulling up was for like 9:00. Way too late to eat dinner, especially with a 3 year old. But, it sounds delicious & we'll (hopefully) eat there one day. Sorry about the crappy service. :headache: But, at least it sounds like y'all were still able to enjoy y'alls dinner! :thumbsup2

9 is a bit late for a 3 year old...there's always next time, right?! Just make sure you start calling for a ressie at 180 days if you're going to be there at a busy time. Even though the service was bad, I would go back.

We will be eating at 'Ohanas for the first time in October. When I showed DH pics of the skewers of meat, he wanted to go there. I can not wait since I love the Poly, went there one year for the Aloha dinner show.

Hopefully your service will be better:laughing: At least the food will be good;) And if you like bread pudding, then you'll be fine...that's basically all I go for:laughing: I'll be anxious to see how you like it. Let us know!

Thanks for your honesty. Hearing about your experience with the server makes me feel a little better about not being able to get the Ohana reservation :rolleyes1

:rotfl: Hey, ya never know...you could walk up and get a table. There were plenty of people doing it the night we were there. I'm sure there would be a wait, but if you're dying to try it...:confused3 But then you can always book another trip, right?! Usually there's a 'next' trip:laughing:

Try it! But not on the next trip!!!....no more planning for you! Did you ever finalize everything or are you still confused?:rolleyes1

Isn't it good?!?! As I was working on the post this afternoon, the pictures were making me sooooo hungry! I could eat my weight in those dumplings and bread/butter. Funny though...there are people who hate Ohana's food:confused3 But then, I guess that's with any restaurant. Do y'all go there on every trip?

;)

Usually more like every other trip. We try to try new places every year but then when we don't like something we end up going back to Ohana's the next year. New isn't always better I guess when it comes to new food to replace Ohana's.

Honestly, as of right now we aren't going in December but your pictures are making me reconsider it.

I surely hope we get a good server, the server can make or break your dining expierence as much as the food. I have never had bread pudding, so am looking forward to trying it, DH don't like the looks of it so it is doubtful he wil try it.

I have never gone to Disney without going to dinner at Ohana's. Its my families favorite restuarant! Seeing your pictures brought back great memories! Will be there in 27 days!

And 27 days??!!! :woohoo: Wish my ticker said that!! I have many months before our return. I'm guessing you'll be back at Ohana?

Started reading your TR yesterday and finally got up to date. LOVE your pics. They all turned out so well :)

We have never stayed/eaten at CR, just took the monorail through it, but this next trip we are planning on eating at Chef Mickey's with the kiddos. So, my question...where at CR is that metal MM head you took pics at?

Looking forward to reading more :thumbsup2

Heather, Pop (aka Yellowbellow) and Ma Hopie,
Thanks for the replies:)
Grandparents are special in children's lives.
My DS wants to do the PL when we go next June. He'll be 11 1/2 then. I'm glad that other readers mentioned their children loved it and they were around that age.
I think DisneyDoc5's DS was around 12 and enjoyed it (I think I remember that)
I showed my DS your review of the PL and he was all excited!
Did your children get hot in the costumes?
We'll be there in early June (if everything goes as planned).
Can't wait to read more of the TR:thumbsup2

Thanks so much! My dad and I love making pictures...wish I had time to take a photography class. Just not gonna happen at this point...3 kids with 3 activities leaves little time:laughing:...as you know, right!

The Mickey is outside near the pool area...when you walk out the doors, you won't be able to miss it. It's a great spot for a family photo;) Are y'all doing breakfast or dinner at Chef Mickey's?

Looking forward to reading more :thumbsup2
Glad to have you follow along! Have you decided where you will be staying when you return? So many choices!!!

Hey Amy!

Would you believe that even though it was 95 degrees, the kids were fine! Last year when we did PL and BBB, that was my concern...the kids would get hot and want to take them off after a short while. Our kids didn't want to take them off at all!!!! So this year, I wasn't too worried about it. I figured they would be fine and they were....thank goodness;) I guess since you're in and out of airconditioned rides, it makes it okay. DS10 never complained once...and that's unusual:laughing:

i have gotten behind so i need to catch up but im so excited to try ohana this time. It will be my 1st lapu lapu!

Fantastic TR! We love to camp and thought about the FW cabins, but we know that a double bed is not going to to work for DH and I. I never thought about one of us in the murphy bed, great idea!

Can't wait for more:thumbsup2

You'll have to take your family there on y'alls next trip...do you think they would like it?

Oh its on my to do list. I know my dh and my father will love it. They are big meat eaters. Im not sure so about my kiddos but hopefully there taste buds will change by then. I am hoping to plan dinner so that we can go out and watch wishes and the water pagent when we are done eating.

Ohana & Wishes – Part 2
Day 6

I believe I left you with this image…..

DSC_4021.jpg

…DH sucking up every last drop…guess he needed a ‘spork’ to finish it off!

One of the creative activities they do for kids during dinner is the….

DSC_4030.gif

Both Faith and Jesse had fun with this….just another reason Disney is so fabulous…they are always thinking about the kids. Dinner at WDW is never boring!

DSC_4028.jpg

One of the main reasons that I come back to Ohana is for the dessert! Seriously….one of the best at Disney!!! I can make myself sick from this treat. It was finally that time!

DSC_4025.jpg

They brought out one dish of bread pudding and one dish of ice cream…she didn’t seriously think this would be enough for this crew??!!! ….and it wasn’t. Mom and I looked at each other and immediately knew we had to have some more. Well…once again…our ever so fast waitress looked at us like we had 2 heads. We asked for another dish…I mean it is all you can eat, right? It honestly took the waitress longer to get the second round of dessert than it did for the shrimp. I really couldn’t figure out what was taking her so long…the place wasn’t packed in the slightest. We did finally get it….and ate it, too!

IMG_6255.jpg

Now we’ve had TOO much food!!! But I don’t regret it…sooooo good! Time for the check…and ya better believe this took forever, too. As you all know, 18% gratuity on a party of 6 or more is automatically figured in…I came very close to asking for a manager to have this taken off and make a complaint. But…we didn’t….should have…but I always hate being a complainer in restaurants. However…when I did the survey that WDW sends after trips, I did report it. This is the worst service that I’ve ever encountered at WDW. I’m still willing to go back….can’t pass up the dessert!!

After dinner, we ventured around the resort for a bit…looking here, looking there…wishing we were staying at the Poly again...:rolleyes1

How many people want to try this new Disney Resort?!!! It looks awesome!

DSC_4034.jpg

There was a lady there trying to talk with us about DVC…but she didn’t impress DH too much. He says to her, “Give me 5 reasons we should buy a DVC.” Well…her answer was less than influencing. I’m not even sure she gave him 2 reasons. I honestly felt kinda bad for the lady…DH just stood there looking at her waiting for the answers. But hey….Jesse did get some stickers out of the deal!

DSC_4035.jpg

During this whole speech, Faith decided that she was going to be a Drama Queen!

DSC_4032.jpg

And just to show you that some things never change….this was last year’s picture after Ohana. We actually weren’t aware that Jesse had been given stickers at all, then I look down at him and he has covered himself!

DSC_1200.jpg

We were curious about The Neverland Club…the kids would be going there on the next night while we were at Victoria and Alberts. So, I decided to wander over and make sure our reservations were set.

DSC_4048.jpg

The kids were completely ready to stay! All of them were super excited. I wanted to look around and get some photos, but there were children in the back…no pictures of other kids. I’m already impressed…the lady at the front desk was extremely cordial and very willing to answer any questions.

The Quiet Pool area was just that….very quiet…nothing going on, but looks beautiful….the refurb looks very nice!

DSC_4047.jpg

IMG_6277.jpg

Then I spotted this…..

DSC_4045.jpg

DSC_4036.gif

Anybody getting homesick?! I sure was….the Poly is such a beautiful resort…it’s truly a resort and not just another hotel.

By this time, DS4 was getting a little restless and tired. So, DH decided to take him back to the CR…DS10 went, too. The rest of us stayed…we really wanted to see Wishes from the beach. While we waited, you will be surprised that Pop and I decided to get a few photos…

IMG_6287.gif

There were not tons of people on the beach…I was pleasantly surprised!

Faith occupied her time in the sand…I think she enjoyed this more than the fireworks!

IMG_6283.gif

10 minutes before the show began, there was a misfire! Several fireworks exploded over the Castle. My immediate thought was…oh great…now the show will be delayed!! It was very strange…never seen this happen before.

As I was waiting on Wishes, I noticed how stunning the CR looked across Bay Lake…it’s a very impressive resort at night...and even though I missed the Poly, I was super happy to be at the CR.

IMG_6280.gif

If you’ve been following along, then you know that our family is really into the Hidden Mickey thing. Well…look what Pop spotted in the sky!!! No lie!! How cool is that…waiting on Wishes and a Hidden Mickey appears in the clouds!...and yes I know…it’s not a perfect one, but it worked for us.

IMG_6282.gif

Finally…it was time for Wishes…and like clockwork, it started on time!...even with the mishap that went off earlier.

IMG_6312.gif

This is such an amazing fireworks show! The music, the words, the actual fireworks….just amazing. And the view from the Poly Beach is by far the best….JMO. The only thing that would have made the evening perfect would have been to have my DH with me….unfortunately he had to take the cranky 4 year old back.

IMG_6292.gif

After the show, it was time to head back…kinda sad to leave the Poly…I missed it. On the way out, there were lots of people enjoying Lilo & Stitch, the movie of the night.

DSC_4037.jpg

So glad to be able to catch the monorail back!!! Not much of a wait at all!! Once again….so convenient…love it! We had an unbelievable day…lots of fun, lots of great food, & most importantly lots of laughs.

Up next….breakfast at Hollywood and Vine with the characters!

The Poly:lovestruc

I've never stayed at the Poly but it is definetely at the top of my list when it comes to resorts I want to stay at. I am in love with Hawaiin theming and hawaii everything, it just includes so many pretty flowers and colors. I was at the movies with my dad last week when an ad came on for the DVC Hawaii villas, I asked him when we were going but did not get a positive response:lmao:

I feel like I am always the first person responding to your posts! I think we are always on the Dis at the same time.

Thanks so much! Honestly, if we go back to FW, we'll have to sleep in separate beds:laughing:...I love the campgrounds, just not the double bed. For our family of 5, the cabin would be plenty of space. If my parents return with us, then we would certainly have to get 2 cabins.

Oh its on my to do list. I know my dh and my father will love it. They are big meat eaters. Im not sure so about my kiddos but hopefully there taste buds will change by then. I am hoping to plan dinner so that we can go out and watch wishes and the water pagent when we are done eating.

I should have posted this, but didn't...Ohana has other food for children...PB&J, mac n cheese, and there was something else, too...but don't remember. If you check Allears or the Dis Menus, it should be on there. There will be something there for your kids:thumbsup2...for sure!

:lmao: Great minds think alike! Wouldn't you just love to stay at the new resort?!! Of course the plane tickets would be more than the resort:laughing: That's the only problem with that DVC...getting there! I love Hawaii and would love to take my husband....but that trip will probably have to wait.

Pop again pirate: - I don't like to beat a dead horse to death but that server at "Ohana's was the worst we have ever encountered at Disney. :snail: Should have reported her but I too don't like to make a scene :furious: - I have done it in the past. But that will NOT keep us form going back.
The food is really good and MaHopi liked the Bread Pudding as much as Heather and ate her share too. :thumbsup2

Yes! My DS12 loved it! He really felt cool and the cast members really had fun pointing out our kids for the rest of the day throughout the parks. I wouldn't hesitate to do it for your DS11 1/2, enjoy!pirate:

Awesome Ohana and Wishes updates.

That picture of DH with the bib and lapu lapu - LOL!!!:rotfl2::lmao:

The pictures of the food looked so good, I'm so mad you had bad service - ugh, I hate that!!! I'm sure it was just an off night!

Those pictures of the Poly at night really makes me miss it too, so beautiful and peaceful! I also LOVE that smell! Wishes on the beach is our favorite memory of the Poly for sure. I would bring the extra blankets out of our closet and we would snuggle up and fill our mugs and watch Wishes and Hallowishes, it's the best view and SO relaxing to walk back to your room and go right to bed.

Can't wait to see the fireworks on the cruise:yay:, I wonder what music they play?

Oops! I fell off the face of the earth! But am caught up now. :woohoo:

Loved your report on the trek at AK. I am so hoping we will get to walk some of those trails this year. The theming looks amazing, and I want to see those tigers!!!

Oh, Ohana. I think I may be the only person on the Dis who doesn't love it. We too had a TERRIBLE server. I thought the food was pretty tasty, but the sheer over abundance of it just kind of grossed me out. :rotfl: I think I would have liked it much more though had the entertainment not been so bad. We had someone other than the gentleman you showed in your review. She was just so over-the-top and kind of spoke in baby talk. It was like nails on a chalkboard. :lmao: I am sorry you all had a bad server experience too. :sad2:

Wow - loving the Poly and Wishes pics. :lovestruc
