Animal Kingdom Afternoon
Asia
Day 6
After lunch, DS4 and DD5 were in desperate need of a nap before dinner! So Ma Hopie took both of them back to the CR for some much needed rest
I think she was a bit tired herself

Ill have to admit
it was kinda nice to be able to stroll through some of the exhibits without being rushed! We were actually able to read information about the animals and basically just took our time.
We decided that we would venture through Asia and check out some unseen territory. First stop
.
This is the mystical Anandapur Royal Forest of Southeast Asia, a land where you'll encounter majestic tigers, a Komodo dragon, a Malayan tapir, wild bats, deer and over 50 species of exotic birds amid ancient ruins and murals.
If you find bats intriguing, then you certainly need to trek through this exhibit! The cast member that was giving information was super helpful and very knowledgeable. There are around 32 bats of the Rodrigues Fruit and Malayan Flying Fox species. Some of the viewing areas are without glass panes or wire coverings. However, the CM told us that there is nothing to fear
some of these bats have a 6-foot wingspan and would not be able to enter the 14-inch window frame.
We stayed in this area for quite some time just watching and asking questions
great information! DS10 was super focused on every word from the CM.
As I was strolling through the ruins, I found some interesting info
It was an Indian custom to turn palaces and temples back over to nature for the good of Earths creatures. The rainforest-like surroundings are indicative of those found in Nepal, India, Thailand and Indonesia.
This is a favorite of everyone!....Tigers! We actually had a great view of these guys. The CM told me that the tigers are usually active first thing in the mornings, then sleep/rest the remainder of the day.
As we ventured through the forest, there were so many beautiful species of birds and flowers.
If you enjoy the art photography, then this is the place for you
seriously
there are some beautiful sites in this exhibit. It was kinda strange
.I actually felt like I was in another place
not AK
it appeared that we had been transported to Asia. Once again, WDW has done a fabulous job with creating authentic surroundings.
Are you ready for me to quit with the scenic shots!!??

Sorry...just a couple more.
We decided that we would head over to the Bird Show. Ive heard some good things about it, so we wanted to check it out ourselves.
This guy, honestly, was a little on the cheesy side
he was one of the host, but I wasnt overly impressed with his acting abilities. He was supposed to be the funny tour guide
well
not so much.
This is a 25-minute show that features around 20 species of free-flying exotic birds, including Harris hawks, Barbary falcons, macaws, ibis and yellow-naped
Amazon parrots. After the show was over, I went to the stage to get a couple of up-close shots of the birds.
The CMs answered any questions that we had
very nice.
Im glad we saw the show
it was good, but I probably would not go back on the next trip
.it wasnt overly impressive. So
before we left, we had to do Mt. Everest. Not sure why I torture myself
.I use to ride these rollercoasters when I was younger with NO PROBLEM!...the older I get, the less my tolerance is.
After this, we decided to head back for a quick dip in the pool!! We basically were in a slow run to get ahead of the parade. Not that the parade isnt good
its great actually, but we were hot, tired, and needed some downtime. It was a great afternoon
.Im soooooo glad we spent time in the Jungle Trek
and by the way
.I forgot to mention it was shaded and cool!
Stay tuned
.up next
..dinner at Ohana and Wishes on the Poly Beach!!!
