3.5 yo and Autographs...

Hi..Do those of you with 3 or 4 y.o's do autograph books??

many years ago (about 15) when i was a kid and went with my parents, my little bro who was 4 at the time had a great time collecting autographs. now me and my soon to be dh are going with our ds (4), and we'll be getting autographs. as long as the queue isn't really long, i don'y see why a 4yr old wouldn't want to...

I hope my kids don't get into the whole autograph thing. I would rather them prefer to ride the rides that wait in lines for autographs.

On our first trip, my DDs were 3 1/2 and 18 mths so we didn't do autographs. This time, they'll be 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 and we're definitely doing them. My youngest is afraid of the large characters. I thought (I hope!) the books would be an icebreaker of sorts for her. She won't want to pose for pictures, and she'll probably give them the books and run, but I know she'll appreciate the souvenirs when she's home. Right now, she's excited about it. I figure, we're already lining up for pics, we might as well bite the bullet and join the ranks

my daughter had just turned 3 on our last trip.. it was a huge hit! She couldn't wait to get the book out of the stroller and have it ready for the character! Its a highlight of our trip and such a keepsake! That is one thing when we go back she is saying she wants... and I do want to add.. she wants the Mickey one this time b/c the princess one doesn't hold as many autographs.. and the princess one only holds 3 1/2 x 5 pics and not 4 x 6...

My younger son who was 3 1/2 on our last trip was very into it! I only bought one book for our 2 boys to share. They did great getting autographs, posing for pics with each character, leaving a blank page in between to fill in with pictures later. They were very excited about having the autographs and cherished the book...until my older son inocently left his backpack on a chair on the top of the train station at MK and walked away for about 4 minutes. We came back and found a family sitting where we had been and nobody knew anything about his bag. It was so heartbreaking for both of my sons. They lost not only their autograph book but my older son's lanyard and all his pins, and his buzz dogtags with his name printed on them. My son now 8 y.o. still talks about his bag and going back to Disney to get autographs! Go for the autograph book if you don't mind waiting in line to see the characters. I think it's a lot of fun for the kids. I still have my book from my 1st trip in 1976!!

I agree with previous poster. My DD4 LOVED getting autographs during our March trip, and even now she asks for her autograph book so she can flip through it and remember all the characters she met.

We're definitely taking one with us when we go in December (FYI - we take homemade books, they're less expensive and my DD didn't care).

My DD had a book in August at 2.5yo and LOVED it! She always wanted them to "sign a book". She was so cute walking up with it all open, getting the pen out for them and then posing for a picture. I made her book with pictures of the characters on each page. She is always "reading" her book at home now. In Dec we'll finish off the characters we didn't get the 4 days in August.

We will be taking our DD for her 4th trip in Dec. she'll be 5 this trip. The last one in 04 we did the pictures and autographs and she loved it. Especially the princesses she talked to all of them. The prior 2 trips when she was 2 & 3 we just did the pictures. We went through 3 princess books and into a 4th by the time we got done. All the other trips were during October and the Halloween party was great with all the characters in costumes. We can't wait for the holiday decorations and MCMCP, we arrive on the 8th through 14th.

We have gone when our kids were 2, 2 and 4, again when they were 3,3 and 5 and this trip they will be 5,5, 7 and 7 months. We have never done autographs and my kids have never asked. We never have told them it was an option. I find character meet and greets stressful because at times we have been in line and there were 3-4 people left to go and we then get informed the characters are leaving. If my kids had their hearts set on an autograph that would have been horrible.

i think that if your child sees a character they will probably want thier photo taken with it, so why not get an autograph while you're there as well?

While the lines can get a little long, autographs are incredibly important to my DS's 4 & 8. We have gone to Disney at least 1X per year since both of their births, and my DS began really getting into it at 2. My vote is yes if the lines are short, or a better idea to start them at the character dining then wait for the "really big" one at the parks. Have fun!!!

We did the autograph book with my daughter when she was almost 3 and she loved it. She really enjoyed meeting all the characters and getting their signatures. It also made for wonderful pictures! Plus she still flips through the book to look at the signatures. Each character has a special signature (at least they did in her book)

I made an autograph book for my 2 1/2 yr old using a small scrapbook. I decorated the front of it with disney art (scrapbooking stickers/etc with mickey mouse ) and I am going to try to get a photo of each character she meets and have one page with the autograph and the page directly across with the photo

Only get your dd's fav. character autographs.10 or 15 will do the trick.

We just got back and DD filled up her autograph book. Lots of fun getting them, and they didn't deter from fun. Tweeedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were the best in acts while doing autographs. Stood in line for Princesses - but lucked into so many opportunities with little or no wait. Best Pixie dust moment - Piglet, Eeyore, Alice, and Tigger in Toy store in UK - last picture before they had to leave. DD couldn't believe she could see them all.

DD loved to look at the book during the day and remember her favorite characters. Character meals are a great way to meet characters too.
