My Disney Birthday Wish Came True! – June 2025 Trip Report (Updated 6/19!)

Well, now I don't know if I want to stay at Coronado. I was all in until you mentioned the AC bang. Yikes!!! If you were staying longer than 1 night, that would have had to be fixed. Did you mention it to anyone at the front desk before you left??

Wilderness Lodge is one of my bucket list resorts (although I doubt I will ever be able to afford it.) It just looks so beautiful AND peaceful. Maybe one day.

Oh, and I love your earlier suggestion of a FARTs trip, but alas, I don't think that falls into the right schedule of availability during spring semester. And this spring is going to be a doozy! I have new classes to teach and right now, it looks like 14 hours of my work week are booked for just class time. That doesn't count meetings, prepping for classes, grading, or production managing. Not sure when I will get everything done but I guess that is future me's problem. LOL.

Oh no! Don't be put off because of that, besides the AC the room was amazing! Yeah, if I had been there for more than just that night I would have insisted it be fixed, Disney is exhausted enough as it is without losing sleep due to a noisy AC!

It is soooooo beautiful. We'd been talking about staying there since the 90s, so it's been a long time coming! I'm so happy we finally got to stay there. Hopefully you'll get to stay there someday soon!

Aw, I'm sorry! Do you get any school breaks you could take a quick trip? I get it can be hard to find time as a teacher, both my parents teach and the only reason my mom can do these trips is because she's semi-retired so only has a fraction of the workload she used to have.

Sadly, this area of the lounge was blocked off for most of the trip, it was only open this morning, but was closed off for painting by the time my mom arrived and didn’t open again until our last day! This took away a lot of the seating in the lounge, which was a bit of a pain since we felt we had to get to the food service early just to snag a table. Usually by a few minutes after the food service started there were a handful of people with food but nowhere to actually sit.
Wow - this was really unfortunate. We were at the WL in February and we did the cl add on for $149 per night. They had scaffolding up in front of the CL balconies and they were blocked off. We couldn't see the fireworks from them. But to have so much of the seating blocked off would have been frustrating.

I also had to laugh that like half of them were celebrating their birthday just like me! We should have organized a big birthday picture!
Everyone seems to be celebrating something. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and they left a special treat in our room. :)

Yeah, and it took the club CMs there by surprise as well, no one gave them advanced notice that half the lounge would be blocked off! Apparently it was a last minute change.

Haha, so true. Disney is a pretty great place for a celebration!

Day 2, Part 2: My Mom Finally Arrives!

My mom’s flight landed right around 11, but she didn’t arrive at the hotel until 12:15. She also took a Minnie Van from the airport to make things easier for her since she doesn’t use Uber.

I had gotten the room ready text just as I was heading downstairs to meet her, so perfect timing! I swung by Bell services on the way out to meet my mom to see if they could bring my luggage upstairs, but they wouldn’t until I went back up so I told them I’d be back in a few minutes.

I met mom, and the Minnie Van driver, out front, and helped her bring her stuff inside. We then swung by Bell Services again so I could request my luggage to be brought upstairs again.

We then headed upstairs to see our room for the first time!

We loved the tiles in the bath, but one thing we found super odd was the shower head was very very low. Like it was at my eye level, which made for kind of awkward showers! And I'm not freakishly tall or anything, just 5'9"! We ended up joking we felt like we were doing the limbo whenever we showered!

We ended up with a room that overlooked the pool area, so not the fireworks view that I requested and the CM alluded we had gotten, which I will admit I was a bit upset about at first, especially since the CM really did make it sound like we were assigned a room on the fireworks view side. I wonder if they changed our assignment since I had gotten there early and they just gave us the earliest available? Either way, in the end it wasn’t a huge deal since we would only be in the room for the fireworks that first night, so no need to be upset! Plus, our room was super quiet, by far the quietest hotel room we’ve ever been in in Disney! And it wasn’t just quiet neighbors, there was a baby in the room next to us that we could hear wailing when we walked by in the hall, but once in our room we couldn’t hear a thing. Seriously, whatever partition design Disney used here they need to put in the rest of their hotels, that stuff worked wonders! I’d bet that had a STC rating of like 70!

Anyways, we started unpacking a bit and I joined the waitlist for a table down at Geyser Point. About 5 minutes after getting into the room there was a knock on the door, so I went to answer it. It ended up being a guy from maintenance. Apparently he was sent up to change our door handle. Um….ok? This was odd, like if you knew this room needed maintenance, why put us in it before that maintenance was complete? It just seemed so odd, like did they put us in the wrong room?!?! And he came up less than 10 minutes after I got the room ready text too, so I feel like some wires got crossed there. He didn’t change the door handle then though since we were clearing unpacking, but he did come back later in the day while we were out at the park.

After unpacking a bit, I took my mom over to see the club lounge, but as we were checking it out, I got the notice that our table at Geyser Point was ready, so we headed downstairs.

We were seated quickly and took a hot second to review the menu, we both already had a good idea what we wanted. Both of us ended up ordering the bison burger, I got the huckleberry punch, and mom got the sangria.

The burger was great as always, but the toppings were very light this time around, which I realized makes a big impact on my love of the burger, I wish it had more of that topping! It was still delicious, but there was hardly any of the berry sauce which made it not quite as good as it usually is. The huckleberry punch was good, but a tad too sweet for me.

Oh, and the furniture at Geyser was recently replaced. At first I was kinda sad about that, the old furniture was much more lounge like, but now it’s more standard dining furniture. Turns out, this new furniture isn’t bad at all, it’s still comfortable but not so comfy like the old stuff where you could easily fall asleep while eating your lunch! :rotfl2:

I haven't visited yet, but I like the new furniture. I always found it kind of awkward to try to eat while hunching over a lower coffee table. But if just drinking, those couches were very comfy! I'm still sad they did away with the waffle fries. The regular Disney fast food fries are fine, but the waffle ones were fantastic. Between Geyser Point and Territory Lounge that resort really has some great dining options!

We ate at Geyser Point when we were there last week. I usually love the Cascade Sangria and told my sister-in-law how good it was. But this time the sangria was rather sour and not as good as usual.

The tables give it more of a standard restaurant vibe. But I can see why they took out the lounge chairs. It was hard to eat at those low coffee tables. And sometimes the seats were wet from rain or swimmers.

Yeah, totally agree, the old furniture while super comfy, did make it a bit awkward to eat. WL does have some really great food options, I can't wait to stay there again!

Oh no! That one is usually pretty good, and apparently one of the few ones on property they actually make it fresh, most places the sangria comes out of a bag (or so they claimed during Sangria University).

Yeah, the new chairs were still very comfortable, I like they left the cushion. I do agree it was harder to eat with the old furniture, but it was super easy to drift off while there!

Day 2, Part 3: Goodbye Muppets!

We last left off enjoying lunch at Geyser Point!

After finishing up at lunch, we headed back upstairs to grab our park stuff, then we made our way down to the bus stop to wait for our bus.

It was about a 20 minute wait for the HS bus, so I’m guessing we just missed one. The bus was packed when we got on which was surprising, but we grabbed the last two seats, wahoo! I was really concerned about buses this trip with my mom’s broken foot, especially since she opted to not wear the walking boot in the mornings when she was fresh so no one could see that she was injured, but it generally worked out ok where we either was able to get her a seat, or I would just call for a Minnie Van if we couldn’t get a seat for her.

We then were off to….Magic Kingdom? Ok, yeah, we were very confused at first when the bus started heading north to MK instead of south to HS, but I finally remembered that the WL shares a bus with the Contemporary, so we were heading there first to drop off all the people who were already on the bus when we got on! I, for some reason, had thought the bus shared with Ft. Wilderness and the people already on the bus had got on there. Oops!

The bus dropped off all the people at the Contemporary, and picked up one more family, and then we were on our way to HS for real this time!

Our trip this afternoon to HS was for one thing, to say goodbye to Muppet Vision 3D!

So once through security and into the park we made our way over to Muppets courtyard and into the preshow room.

Now originally our plan was to do this on Friday, but being the day before the show closed, we figured the crowds would just get crazier the closer we got to the closing date, so we switched things up to visit this day instead.

The show was still completely full, but there was no wait other than that for the previous show to end!

This is such a great show, I’m so sad it’s going away. It would be awesome if they could move it over to the building where the new villains show is and then make that the new Muppets courtyard when the Muppets take over RnR. Wishful thinking, I’m sure!

After the show we took a ton of pictures around the area.

I’m so glad we got to visit one last time before it closed for good! I feel bad we neglected this show the past few years, it used to be a must-do for us every trip, but with all the new stuff opening over the past few years we skipped this more often than not simply since we didn’t have time to do it all.

After getting our pictures we started making our way out of the park. Stopping at a photopass photographers on the way.

We also swung by the stores on the way out and I got myself a new Dug shirt and a HS shirt!

Dug is my favorite, mostly because my actual dog is named Dug after him.

We then made our way out and to the bus. There was a short wait, but soon a bus pulled up and we were on our way home!

Next up: Dinner at Club Level

At the risk of sounding very entitled, I just don't think deluxe resorts should share buses. If you're paying that much per night ... just no. Yacht & Beach ok (and honestly would be delighted if they separated) ... but nothing else. So happy you were able to say farewell to Muppets. Such a great attraction and I wholeheartedly agree that I wish they'd move it all over adjacent to RnR and make a whole Muppets area. I'm too chicken to go on RnR (restraints make me panic and don't like upside down) so I'm very sad I likely won't be seeing Muppets again. Absolutely LOVE the tees you got ... will be looking for those on my next visit!

100% agree on the buses, I even hate that the YC/BC share! It doesn't feel very deluxe being squished in with dozens of other sweaty people. :rotfl2: Although I guess it's better than years ago when all the Crescent Lake hotels shared, including the Swan and Dolphin! But I swear back then they had buses running more frequently, even with 5 resorts sharing the bus I don't remember the buses ever being as crowded as they are these days.

Yeah, I'm so happy we got a chance to see Muppets one last time. This is a hard one to lose, it reminds me so much of my childhood at Disney, and was such a great show. Maybe whoever replaces Iger will be a Muppets fan and will find a way to bring it back! A girl can dream!

It's funny, I used to love RnR, but these days it just hits differently, and not in a good way. I do plan on going on it at least once when they switch it to Muppets, but it would be nice if the Muppets had another, less hurting attraction (am I the only one whose back and neck hurt after RnR?!?!)

I think HS has some of the best/most unique merch these days, I didn't see that Dug tee anywhere else. I love that it's in the same style as the classic Mickey tee, but with Dug!
