The airfare we are getting now is $258 to fly direct into LAX. My DD wants to fly into LAx to visit a friend. We will be flying out of Palm Springs we have a wedding there and the flights home are $188/ The trip is the end of April. Would you take this airfare now or play the waiting game?

What airline is this with? I paid around 350 rt with Delta. The flights are not direct though.

If you are flying from the NYC area, that's not a bad one way fare. It appears to be the average fare right now for all the major airlines for next April.

Unfortunately, this is pretty average right now.

Where are you flying from? $258 seems a little high to me.

We flew from LAX to MCO last december (december 15th-21st) and we paid about $400 RT each.
We flew LAX to IAD the december before and we paid about $300 RT.

We've never paid more than $400 RT to anywhere from LAX (dulles, ny, orlando, greensboro, raleigh, palm beach) in the past few years so $258 one way seems high IMO.

What airline are you flying?

You don't say where you are originating from so given your home location I am assuming JFK.
Airlines, if offering discounts, do not usually offer them that far in advance. So to get an idea of where prices should be I look at dates about 45-60 days out.
In October JFK-LAX round trip prices are $300-$350 on multiple carriers.
Conclusion: You can get a better price than that as long as you are not traveling at a high demand time which will fill up the flights way in advance.

Wait. Airfare should drop like a rock some time in the next few months.
