25 Points at BLT-Limited Time?

WilsonFlyer - I can't say if you've helped me or not. :cutie: I would love to add on at BLT, but DH probably thinks a bit differently from me. :rotfl2: However, I am really glad I know about this change because if you hadn't posted it, I might never have found out about it. :guilty: My guide doesn't email us although we're "foreigners" and it would be the easiest way to get in contact with us. They do sometimes send out brochures/flyers, but they usually arrive wayyyyy after the info has been posted here and usually only a few days before the deals end.

I hope if they do find out... they give that guide a bonus!!!:flower3: He is communicating! He is doing his job! He is selling DVC!!!!

I agree here - this is where I have to come to if I need to find out what's occurring in DVC-land. :worship:

E-mail = much easier to use and clearer than phone calls.

I would prefer to be contacted by email (at least initially) because:

A) I don't want to get a phone call at 3am (my time) from my guide :upsidedow

and

B) DVC snail mail seems to take months to reach me. :sad2:

So, thanks anyway and please don't let the poo-pooers put you off - keep posting your good info. :thumbsup2 If we do actually get to make use of the fabulous info you posted, well, that's even better for me! :thumbsup2

If it takes a DVC Guide 4-5 times longer to respond to sales inquiries via email than phone, that's a significant drain on their time.

I only email my guide for 2 things: 1) To inquire as to the current cosr per point, and 2) to buy more points.

I rarely speak to my guide in person.

WilsonFlyer - PLEASE don't stop posting. I have learned so many things from you. My guide doesn't give me any heads up about things so I rely on the boards and people like YOU! Keep the info coming and THANK YOU.:thanks:

Wilson: my post was just to point out that taking out the names in the email really wouldn't do much since there was another source right here on the Dis where the guide could be identified. As mine could be. As a result, I am very hesitant to share info he gives me unless I know it's been vetted for public consumption.

The OP is correct...25 point add-ons are now availible at BLT.... read this on the dvcnews site originally... Whoever gave he OP a hard time initially in this thread now surely realizes that they were the one who was mistaken and not the OP.

I am very happy to hear this!!! BLT is our home resort and the thought of having to add-on 100 points to get a few more points here and there was really making us unhappy.

Salutes to those at Disney who were listening to our suggestions!

Thank you for your post. I just got off the phone with my guide and added 100 points. I was calling to add the 25 then I went to 50 and ended up at 100 with the cruise.

Let me guess- guide keeps telling you 25pt is useless :)
Same thing happened to me the first 25pt. Wanted 25- convinced me to get 50, then try to make me get 100. But i ended up with 50pt. Then this time, started with 25pt- tried to convince me for 100pt, but i stuck with my 25pt. :rotfl:
Anyway, congrat on your add-on. Any amount is worth it- coz it's BLT....:cool1:

Also, thanks to Wilson for starting this thread and giving everyone a heads up about this. :thumbsup2

OK... I've tried to play nice and go along and let everybody just bust my balls but let's face facts and be adults here, folks. If it wasn't public information when he sent it to me, he wouldn't have sent it to me.

Everybody needs to give the pray for your guide thing a rest. He's a big boy and he knows I post(ed) everything on this board when I learn something. I've told him time and again.

I don't sleep with him. It ain't pillow-talk. He's my salesman. He ain't telling me nothing he ain't telling every client he gets a chance to tell if he thinks there may be a dollar in it.

He ain't in trouble for e-mailing me any more so than he'd be if he'd called me.

Let's go to something else or somebody else. Find somebody else to beat up on.

I'm through sharing anything here. Funny thing is, I haven't seen one single duplicate first post as mine which is unheard of on a board like this. Did anybody else hear from somebody at Disney except me before you read it here?!?!?

What an absolute waste of time to try to help people here. For Christ's sake folks. Get a life.

AMEN!

This "my guide loves me and tells me secrets" that folks think they have going on here is :rotfl2: Guides are SALESMEN and SALESWOMEN first and foremost. They tell us stuff with an end goal in mind.. Parting us from our cash!

So those of you who think 'boy am I special' No, what really is going is your guide thinks "sending XYX an email is the way to his heart and through that his WALLET!" :rotfl:

And the honest truth. Disney doesn't really care. They have the "official" policy to CYA but what that means is that if a guide promises you something in an email like "lifetime free admission" they can then say "guide violated our rules" and fire him and not honor the "lifetime free admission" email. If you REALLY think your guides trust you 'never to disclose' what they send in an email then your guide is in the WRONG business. They WANT you to tell your friends/neighbors/people on the street ANYONE with cash to spend!

My guide called me today because he felt bad that he did not have the new information when I called him the first night this thread was posted about adding on a 25 pt. contract.

He said that they were told, at first, that it would be for special situations and did an about face by Thursday/Friday. He was off those days and when he came in today, found out it is for everyone and didn't want me to think that he had no clue.

As I said, it turned out okay for me as I didn't really want another 25 but was able to change my 100 pts to 112. Of course, he even told me that I was still eligible to break the 100 nto smaller ones if I wanted since I have still not closed. I didn't because I don't intend to sell BLT, but when I add on the next 100--hopefully in a year--I will do it as two 50's.

It amazes me how quickly I went from 25 to 100. I know I should have stuck at 50 but then I don't know what happened. I just got carried away in the moment I guess. I just keep telling my dh there are worse things I could have done today.

Believe me, its easy to do if you are as excited about owning at BLT as I am. I had all I could do NOT to add on another 100 points myself today!!!

Thank You. I think it is all the excitement. Congrats to you for owning at BLT.

Sandisw,
Just a thought... DVC has clearly shown that they would like to do away with the smaller increments. If you did 2-56 point contracts now, if in a year they have gone back to the 100 point minimum (and not letting you break it up into smaller increments) it wouldn't make any difference to you. It's not too late to change things if you are not past your rescission period (or you have not yet signed...)

I know exactly how you feel. I've already added 50 the first round and I only needed 25 more, since I already own SSR. My intention was to sell my SSR and own entirely BLT, but it would be at great lost. Guide try to convince me serveral times to get 100. Yesterday I was so tempted to get another 100 and go for the $5 discount and a cruise. THe cruise sail date was not right for me, and hate to spend serveral more thousands to save $500- so i stucked to my gun and just added 25. I got the vibes that my guide wasn't too happy about that, but I wasn't gonna add more than what I need for now. I do intend to purchase some more on resale prbly later on.

Such good points. I just sent my guide an email to see if I can definitely break up my contract and still get the incentives. If I can, you are right, do it now and then when I buy my 100 next year, it won't matter! That is why I love these boards!!!!

WilsonFlyer - I too thank you for posting. Because of your post we were able to add on 25 pts last nite at the DTD event. They didn't say anything about it in the presentation but when I asked about it later, the guide I talked to said she just found out about it yesterday morning. I also asked if she knew how long this offer would be available and she went and check with someone and came back and said they didn't know. I don't understand why all the guides don't know things at the same time. Maybe it has to do with their days off or I wonder if some guides don't check their email or where ever they get their info from. I'm excited to have 25 more points!

TIGGERmetoo who is your guide at DTD? That is where we bought in and we are from Winnebago, IL.

Update: I just talked to my guide. If I break up my contracts, I would lose the incentives since neither one would be over 100 pts unless I add an additional 13 points--then I can do 100 & 25, but would have to pay cash for the 25.

Not worth it so will keep it as is for right now. Thanks for all the input!!!!

Sandisw,
I guess it depends on how motivated you are to press the point, but this represents a change in policy. In the past the incentives were given with contracts that were broken up in smaller increments as long as the total met the requirement. If this is truly the policy now, you could ask for management exception. If it is your plan to break in down in the future you will be faced with the same dilema--maybe it would be best to get it sorted out now?

Exactly, or at least that's the way it's always been explained to me. 100 points is 100 points as far as the purchase is concerned. Doesn't matter how the contract may be broken up into smaller pieces (a VERY good move in case you need to sell later on resale!).
