By the time I woke up this morning, I was feeling much better and ready to start eating all over again.
We'd picked up a Cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery yesterday afternoon, so shared that for breakfast. This was very nice and very big, good cinnamon flavour and sweet icing. It was good but I can imagine it would be amazing if eaten when freshly baked.
Around 10ish I was pretty hungry and lunch wasn't until 1:30 today. We decided to share a snack from Sunshine Seasons, and as I'm a huge chocolate lover we split a Chocolate butterfinger brownie. This was sweet, chocolatey and chewy, well worth a snack credit.
After spending the morning wondering around Future World, we walked round World Showcase for a while to get our first look at the F&W festival. Well you can't just look at the F&W festival, you have to sample so we decided to get one sample each, in the hope we'd still have room for lunch.
I had the Chilaquiles from Mexico, which were baked tortillas with chicken and cheese filling, topped with a green tomato type sauce and sour cream. These were tasty and not particularly spicy, it was a big portion and I didn't finish it all, still hoping to save room for lunch.
DH went to the Mouse Catch and got the cheese trio. He enjoyed these, again quite a large portion but he managed to finish it all.
Ok, so after spending half the morning eating, it was finally time for lunch. We arrived at 1:30, and although there were a lot of parties waiting we were seated very quickly at a booth on the lowest level. We had a great view of the tank, and I much preferred this seat to the 2 top, right against the tank we had last time.
I wasn't going to bother with a drink, but the Magic Star cocktail caught my eye. I'm a sucker for a pretty drink with a glowcube and I really enjoyed this drink. It wasn't too sweet but had a nice flavour, and you really couldn't taste much alcohol.
For an appetiser I ordered the Cod Cake. This was nice but not particularly flavourful. The spicy remoulade it was served with was nice and tangy, but overall this was just ok.
The only vegetarian appetiser was a Mixed Green Salad which DH got with a blue cheese dressing. He liked this but said there wasn't enough blue cheese in the dressing. He didn't quite get to finish it as our entree's arrived while he was still eating (I hate that.)
For my main I chose the Lobster salad and lobster bisque. The salad was ok, it had plenty of big pieces of lobster but it didn't pack a lot of flavour in for some reason. It was nice when spooned onto the crunchy bread it came with.
I absolutely loved the bisque. It was a very small portion, that little bowl is probably not even a third full but honestly it was so rich, I couldn't have eaten a big bowlful. It was creamy and packed full of lobster flavour, compared to the bisque I had at the Yachtsman, this was much thicker and creamier, but I couldn't taste any brandy in it, whereas I could at the Yachtsman. Coral Reef's was the winner for me though.
DH had a vegetable and Bean ragout. He liked the sauce, saying it had a good tomatoey flavour and the roasted vegetables were good. There was something in this dish that was very, very spicy (I think it was the crispy thing sticking up in the centre). DH ate half the dish before discovering it, then after that said his mouth was burning and couldn't really taste the rest properly.
For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Wave. This was really good, chocolate sponge, with a rich gooey centre. It was a very rich dessert, and I would have struggled with it if I'd eaten a really heavy meal. The brandied cherries were pretty potent, but aside from that it was a gorgeous dessert.
DH tried the Baileys and Jack Daniels mousse. He said it was a good, rich, creamy mousse with a nice light texture. It didn't have a really strong baileys flavour, and although he could tell the bottom layer definitely had alcohol in it, it wasn't strong enough to distinguish it as Jack Daniels.
Overall we thought the food here was ok, with the exception of dessert which was very good. The service here was fine, but we felt quite rushed with our entree's arriving before DH had finished his appetiser. We do love the atmosphere here though, and we enjoyed watching the tank as we ate.
