2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: August 31, 2017 - November 13, 2017

I will be so happy when we start getting more info. Next week I get to do my ADRs (only a couple), and then I can't plan any more until the F&W info starts arriving.

Any tips on avoiding the worst of the crowds if you have to be there over a late October weekend? Would Friday or Sunday morning-lunchtime be good bets? How about Thursday night even if it's our arrival day?

Friday would most likely be your best choice. The marketplace booths open at 11:00 am. You should be OK for Friday as long as you are out of World Showcase by late afternoon.

Have you heard of the Agent P scavenger hunt?

They used to give you a device, but I believe you use your smart phone now.

This activity is at Epcot year round, that is, it's not just for F&W.

We did it years ago, first when it was Kim Possible themed and then Phineas & Phil. It's a lot of fun for the kids. :)

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, we've done the Agent P Hunt before - though not recently, despite always intending to. I think last time we did it they were still using the flip phones you mentioned!

Anyway, yes, know thats always an option, as is the ever popular KidCot no matter how many times my kids do it (my son, now 10, probably has 6 of those Perry/Duffy "flags" and will still do it everytime with his sister).

I was more just seeing if there's anything they "add" for the festival for the little ones (or older ones!) that has some entertainment value as you walk around. I gave the obvious "garden" type examples for Flower and Garden, and when we were there for TGiving this past fall, they had various native "Holiday Stories" at some of the countries where a cast member would be telling the traditional holiday stories of their home countries to whoever was gathered.

Whatever the F&W equivalent of that would be. Maybe its nothing, but figured I'd check!

We are retunring to FW Oct 13-17, doing a split stay first two at SSR and next two at BWV. Got BWV waitlisted in hopes that we avoid the split but not a big deal, we own at SSR but have never been lol. Our third trip to FW, our favorite time to visit without doubt (sans teens), and we are planing on PFTS on the 14th. Have to get it off the "punch" list as we call it...Can't wait, oh, and we check into POP with our daughters softball team in 48 hours!

I'm not expecting any major news until July

I'm hoping that some information will be released sooner than usual as this year's festival starts two weeks earlier.

I would not get my hopes up..... After all they know that we will throw money at them regardless of what they do. (I am always amazed that we all race of to spend money on events with little to no idea of what we might be paying for :) )

Long time Disney guests, first time Food and Wine-rs here, just booked for last week in September.

We've done Flower and Garden the last 3 years so certainly familiar with "booth-hopping" and sampling eats around the world (and resisting the urge to make ADRs) but question for the experienced F+W'ers - we're a large group (9) but we are the only ones with kids (son, 10; daughter, 4). From our experiences at Flower and Garden, we've always been able to make Epcot "fun" for the kids with the Topiaries, the Egg Hunt, Butterfly Garden, etc. What does F+W have, if anything, for kiddie entertainment other than trying new foods (as unfortunately, my kids favorite stop around the world is almost always for Chicken Fingers and Mac and Cheese at Liberty Tavern, and it pains me)?

Really looking forward to it - crossing fingers for no hurricane issues as I know we're going at the height of that season. I am expecting crazy hot and humid weather still - is that fair to expect? April has always been nice as the humidity is lesser, but we've gone in August before and, wow, is all I can say.

Thanks!
There is Remy's Ratatouille Hide and squeak if you want to pay $9.95 plus tax they've had it for the last 2 years. You get a map and stickers and go around World Show case finding him when u are done you get a prize.

Perfect - this is exactly what I was hoping for. Sort of the F&W answer to the Egg Hunt that is usually coinciding with flower and garden time in the spring?

That Saturday was absolutely gorgeous--the sky could not have been more blue! We were there October 5-14, 2016. We have been going around that time since 2010 and will be back this year as well with our grown children and spouses! Hoping for perfect weather and a lovely family reunion!
we were there those same exact days! We went Tuesday and then again Saturday, and I totally agree that Saturday was perfect, and Tuesday was soaking wet. We really enjoyed ourselves though! I was super excited when I saw that we would be able to go for the first day of food and wine this year!

It is always nice to converse with a long time Disboarder, Tess. :)

We went in October 2010 and 2011. Weather was fine both trips--actually it was near perfect weather in 2010.

This past October, we arrived Saturday, 10/1 and had horrible rain that night. A few days later on a Tuesday, we had another torrential afternoon rainstorm.

Thursday, everything closed at 5:00 and Friday, the parks did not open. It rained heavily both days.

We were supposed to fly home on Saturday, but were able to change our flight to Sunday. That Saturday turned to be the best day of our day. Beautiful sunny day with low humidity and a pleasant breeze. We spent it at Epcot and the F&W.
Sorry, this is the post I meant to quote

Florida owes us good weather this year. LOL!

We are trying September this year. If there's another hurricane, I won't be surprised. I won't like it, but I'll be ready for it.

I thought it was the other way around; the Egg Hunt was an answer to Remy's Hide and Squeak. There was also a Figment version at the Festival of Arts and Music. I'm not sure which came first, the Remy or the Egg.

DW and I are spending Oct 20th to Nov 17th at Fort Wilderness for our 14th Food and Wine Festival. We like spending a couple of days after the Festival to enjoy things with no schedule. We like going to a couple of the Italian Regional Lunch, the Italian Beer vs Wine, French Family Meal Tradition, Tequila Lunch, Parisian Breakfast, Japan's Craft Beer, Trattoria al Forno's lunch, Morocco F&W Pairings and the Mediterranean F&W Pairing. Also a couple of the seminars at the Welcome Center. Last year we went to the Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic, we hope to attend that again. We also really enjoy Halloween at the Fort. The decorations are great and its fun with the Trick or Treaters. Love ending the Festival with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. We normally take in a movie or two at the Fort's campfire and sing-a-long. My wife started a blog a few years back that includes some write-ups on our Food and Wine adventures, it might help someone trying to decide on what to do. They are under the Walt Disney World section, the yearly links are Fall 20xx - Spring 20xx. Hope others enjoy it as much as we do.

Off topic....Have you done Halloween at DW before? Mickey's not so scary is SO MUCH FUN! my DH and I went two years ago without kids and had a blast! he was Peter Pan and I was Mary....have fun, fun, fun!

Nope. This will be the first time. Not sure if I'll dress all up in a costume or not but I'll at least find something to wear.

Ha - I dunno either. I think I saw that the Figment search started in 2015; I was at Festival and Garden in April 2014 and can confirm they did the egg hunt that year.
