So can spectators get into Epcot (with park admission) before the park opens at 9?

Yes...I think you would need a ticket. But it's not listed as a spectator spot in the event guide...which is weird because we were definitely there in 2014.

Or you can text "PHM" to 38909. This works for the 10K, half and GSC but DOES NOT work for the 5K.

Ok, was looking at the tracking site, pretty neat, that's the best map of the 10k I've seen so far LOL Love how you can do the satellite view while looking at the course. I wish I could get it to show the half marathon course though! I guess it will switch over automatically after the 10k...

That's so cool, I didn't notice that about the satellite view! You can also do an "elevation" view. I bet you are right about the half course. Maybe it's the 10K right now for GSC runners but the half for half marathon runners...

Half only runner here, I can only see the 10k map as well... bummer! That is a neat feature though!

magicbands are here! Despite the snow, which isn't all that much for many states, but for western WA it's a doozy. School's out (which means kidlet's dance classes, including the one he's a TA for, are cancelled) and everything.

I like the newer packaging; I'm a total packrat and I keep boxes and papers and such, but there's nothing about the new box that makes me want to keep it. Woo! And it's less waste etc etc.

Thanks! I was unsure b/c I'm usually in a back corral and have never arrived in Epcot before 9 am. This year I'm in H, so I should be done before 9 if all goes as expected!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I got my 9 in this morning. I actually don't mind running in the cold, it's the ice and snow that are a problem for me. I am entirely too clumsy for that!

Same here! I'll run in just about any weather, but ice and snow is where I draw the line, for that very reason.

Awesome. It looks like we got corral O. I guess it could be worse though.

I haven't tried the tape. I looked at it but it looks so complicated . I will definitely look at it a bit more though. And maybe I can get them to wrap me up before. That's good to know.

I have only ever used Rock Tape and I love it. My running store girl likes it better, so that's what I got. It looks like they are going to have a booth at the expo as well.

This. This. This. My 10 Miler times seem to be my best. I can keep a higher pace than a half but they look so much better than my 10k times because of how McMillan works.

Good to know. I will keep that in mind when I hopefully register for the 2018 GSC.

I like the new packaging for the magic bands. Much less waste!!! Part of me secretly hopes that they will stop the nonsense of a new band for every resort reservation you ever make. I stay at WDW frequently and was so glad when they added the option to decline bands.

Does anyone remember if they had 1/2 Marathon or GSC visors available for purchase at the expo? I have found pictures of hats on google, but I don't want a hat.

Ugh, can't remember. Hats, yes. Headbands, yes. Can't remember if there were visors...I want to say no but I'm not totally sure.

This will be a first half marathon for me. I am in corral I with a 10K POT of 1:30. I was hoping that I would be able to fully run this race, since it is my first, but injury and life have held me back from improving my pace and ability.

At this point, I am going to be doing run/walk but mostly on the walk side. Will I be alone in this or will there be other walkers out there with me?

I am excited to get down there and just try and do the best I can!

There will be plenty of walkers out there with you! There's even some places on the course where basically everyone has to walk (grumble). But you will definitely not be alone!

You will not be alone. The Galloway method run walk run is very common at Disney races...he is a featured speaker every year. The biggest issue will be in distinguishing your phone/watch beeps from the thousand of others.
Nothing worse than realizing you missed several walk breaks...well except that onramp for mile 10. Jk.
