2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Hi All! I have been reading through this thread and can't thank you all enough for all the info!

This will be a first half marathon for me. I am in corral I with a 10K POT of 1:30. I was hoping that I would be able to fully run this race, since it is my first, but injury and life have held me back from improving my pace and ability.

At this point, I am going to be doing run/walk but mostly on the walk side. Will I be alone in this or will there be other walkers out there with me?

I am excited to get down there and just try and do the best I can!

Tons and tons of people will be walking including me. It's my 1st half marathon, I'm not trying to break any records and want to enjoy the characters so I'm using the Galloway Run/Walk/Run method.

You will not be alone. The Galloway method run walk run is very common at Disney races...he is a featured speaker every year. The biggest issue will be in distinguishing your phone/watch beeps from the thousand of others. :rotfl2:
Nothing worse than realizing you missed several walk breaks...well except that onramp for mile 10. Jk.

My Garmin vibrates for intervals!!!

My 14 mile run on Friday has a "hill". It's actually where the road slopes up onto a bridge to go over the turnpike. I was going to run it at the beginning, but now I'm thinking I should save it for the end since it's 3.3 miles from my house.

I'd love gold, blue, maroon, and pink shirts. They're in the theme. Would also be okay with a nice purple, even though it doesn't match the theme.

Do not want: grey, navy, and black. Have many of these from other races.

Crazy question - are there opportunities to use "real" bathrooms during the half? When we ran Star Wars at DL, we were able to use the bathrooms in the parks when we passed them. Is the Princess the same or are we stuck with porta potties the whole time?

Yep. At the MK. Just past Buzz light year ride on left and in Frontierland on left.
Between mile 5 and 6.

Isn't there also one at the TTC, just before you enter Magic Kingdom? My memory is fuzzy, but I know I used one outside the parks in 2014.

Perhaps. Seems I have Heard that. But that is around mile 4 I think. The two I listed are two I have used. The second one was less crowded.....when I used it.

Yes - any park bathrooms should be open.

TTC bathrooms are open. I've never used them since the line is always gigantic!

This is my first RunDisney Race, but The Runner's Guide to WDW says that typically you can use the TTC bathrooms, but they have had reports of them being locked at one point as well.

Coming from the crazy girl that stopped at every opportunity because she was 18 weeks pregnant for GSC last year...the report was correct. Those bathrooms were blocked off by cast members for the 2016 run. Man was it a fun waddle racing to the next one. :scared::scared::scared:

It looks like they are going to have a booth at the expo as well.

Woo! I really need to read the re-released guide.

Lucky to have such a hill to train on!

Hopefully Star Wars will keep them from having those colors again.

two things: my magic bands finally arrived! but the cute matching luggage tags weren't in there....are they not doing these for people who book packages anymore? or is it because I went through a TA?

also regarding bathrooms: I remember there were a bunch of portapotties on a hill my first princess in 2013... I was so afraid that thing was going to tip and I was struggling with my tutu. if only I had known that later on down the course there would be real bathrooms haha. could've saved me a lot of stress!

Are you booked with a certain "magical" agency? I think those discounted rooms aren't considered "Magic Your Way" packages which you have to book for the luggage tags.

nope I'm not. but my package says WDW PRINCESS MYW I-SPT. Do I pick up tickets and stuff at the expo? I feel like I remember seeing something about travel providers pick up but I can't remember because I don't normally go through an agent/
