2016 Disneyland Paris Half Marathon

I really wanted to do this since it is an inaugural run. I just ran my first ever half at the Disney half last month. So now I have an itch to do more. But I wanted to use DVC as an option. Plus, I like to plan and there doesn't seem to be much info at this point. Finally, it might make more sense to wait till my kids are a bit older (9&6).

What do you think?

I find it incredibly frustrating that package registration is supposed to begin in two days but there are NO DETAILS on the runDisney Paris event site!

Agreed! I was very excited about attending the inaugural race, but now I'm thinking I may wait a year to see if they iron out some problems on this first race. If this is a preview of how the race will be run, I'm not optimistic. And I don't want to shell out all that money on possibly a once in a lifetime trip to Disneyland Paris only to be dealing with a disorganized race.

It'll almost certainly be slightly or fairly disorganized, but so what? You'll be in Paris! There are worst places in the world to be if that happens. :)

But if that's the case, I'd rather it be somewhere where the main language spoken is English, if only to be able to eventually make sense of it all.

Just got an email that package stuff is October 13...so it's pushed back?

Did anyone else just get this email saying package registration opens next week? So confused...

And the site says that info will be available on the 13th, when the packages go on sale.

Don't they understand our need to plan and dissect and be overly concerned?

Seriously! How am I supposed to be a hyper type A Disney planner?!?!?! :)

I'm secretly relieved it was postponed because it means I'll be much more productive tomorrow, but it also means more time in limbo with no information. Boo!

Just got the same email and went to the site. Full payment for race, hotel stay (minimum 3 nights) and 3-day park ticket is due in full on December 15 of this year.

No thanks. I'll sit out inaugural and wait and see what happens in 2016 before I commit. There is no way I'm doing a package with three days just at DLP where I have to pay in full more than 9 months out.

I looked up the prices for onsite hotels for a random October weekend, and even the cheapest was over AUD $1000 for 2 nights (room only - no tickets included or anything)... Our usual hotel budget is $100 per night. There is NO WAY (and I can't stress this enough!) I'm spending like $2k just on accommodation for 3 nights - yikes! If they're only going to be selling these registrations as part of a package, I really feel like they should be offering the package at different price points. Or else they need to offer more stand alone registrations so that people can manage their budgets.

Maybe they'll surprise me and offer half price rates for runners or something. It would just be really good to have some sort of idea of what sort of cost you're looking at *before* you have to decide to book!

I just looked at that Get Travel "information" request form. It is basically a purchase agreement where they charge you without you having a CLUE what it costs and no matter what 25% is non refundable. I think I may be dumping this plan in favor of taking my niece for graduation in May

Plus the "non refundable" part for a package they get money for 9 months in advance really turns me off. I am sure they will have insurance and you could cancel for a valid reason, but really?? Greed strikes again at Disney!

My group is thinking the same thing. There will be four adults and I am the only one interested in running. We are even leaning toward off site. <gasp>

Personally I think Paris is a great place to do offsite. The Disney hotels are just ridiculously expensive - even the 'budget' ones!

We're not going to go anymore, but I did do a bit of research, and decided that Hotel l'Elysee would be a good one. My parents and I stayed there a couple of years ago and enjoyed our stay - it's a nice hotel. The location is about as good as you're gonna get offsite. It's across the road from a big shopping centre with a reasonably priced food court. Plus, there's the train station just across the road too. They do provide a free shuttle to the parks, but I doubt they will start them early enough for runners. I worked out that if I caught the first train it should get me to the corrals in time on race morning. It's also handy if you just miss a shuttle or something (because during the middle of the day, they're only about once an hour). FWIW, Hotel l'Elysee was less than half the price of the cheapest Disney hotel.
