2015 Villain’s Sinister Soiree

I'm having serious second thoughts, mostly because I'm thinking about the special treats that they already sell around the park, like the pumpkin waffle and the candy corn soft serve. That is kind of dessert overload. I don't know, I'll wait the 25ish days or so until the first party, and read people's reviews, and then go from there. Right now, I'm leaning towards a big CX.

We're going to both the 9/15 and 9/18 parties (our first time!), so I chose to do the dessert party on the 18th to hang out and relax, as we'll be trying to do as much as possible on the 15th!

Thats what we are doing too. Going to MNSSHP on 2 nights. One night we'll just relax and enjoy the dessert package, trick or treating, etc and the other night we'll do rides.

FYI - after a severe debate with myself, I decided to go ahead and book the party. I couldn't book a party of 1 for my night online, so I called.

I was told I could book a party of 2, but that was the minimum purchase they were allowing. I asked if they could refund the second person I wouldn't have with me and they said no - that it was a 2-person minimum.

So - just FYI for any solos thinking about doing this. I'm kinda glad that was the deal, because I wasn't super excited about having to rush to the VIP seating at the early parade from dinner since I plan on attending the second parade.

Will they let you book for 2 with one being a child under 3? No charge and the baby just wasn't up to it that night. That is what the phone CMs used to have me do when I called in before online booking looking for a table for 3. They system would find things for 4, but would refuse to book for 3, so they would give me a phantom child quite often.

Can't decide...not too much more for 2 adults and 2 children to book a 2nd party! Decisions, decisions!!

If your choice is between a dessert party and a 2nd MNSSHP, I would take MNSSHP hands down! Doing 2 parties is great, we have done it the last 2 years. 2 years ago, we spent 1 night focused primarily on all the character meet and greets (DD is a character fanatic), the other night we spent primarily focused on the parade, shows, and Haunted Mansion. We did other things too both nights, but those were the priorities. That way you don't have to worry about the time you are losing staking out a parade or show spot because you have 2 nights to spread things out. Last year, we spent one night doing Villians Soiree which involved the parade and shows as well with the reserved spot (we did some characters before it), and the other night was the rest of the characters, Haunted Mansion, and other things. If it were me, I would much rather spend my money on a second night and just spreading things out knowing I will spend a little more time staking out a parade and fireworks spot, than spend that money on a cupcake and a guaranteed parade and fireworks spot.

Ultimately for us its not worth two parties since we'd miss out on another evening at Epcot enjoying F&W... oh if only time were limitless when on vacation! ;)
 
I spoke to someone at the DVC member number yesterday and got the feeling that we will find out any day now. Looking forward to this trip being very special for my hubby who is working his butt off at work this year. He sooo needs this so I surprised him with a getaway in october! Had to call to convince his boss to give him vacation time this year!

I'm confused...find what out any day now? The dessert party was announced and opened for booking yesterday, and the Disney Parks Blog confirmed that there is no equivalent to VSS this year. The dessert party is the premium-event-within-a-party this year.
 
Gonna bump this because I have a question. Since they are doing the HalloWishes dessert party instead of the soiree, has anyone heard what they are doing with the villains? One of the major draws for us going to MNSSHP was the opportunity to meet the villains (Maleficent and Facilier in particular), and without having to do a separate event, we're hopeful they'll still be available at some point.

Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, and the Evil Queen are not available for meets or photos this year. They have been removed from the party rotation. Why they chose to remove the most popular villains, well, that is anyone's guess.

I'm still secretly hoping that at least one of the three shows up at the Hallowishes dessert party to do the apple cider toast.....

They haven't given a reason, and they probably won't. I'm going with the theory that there is some older gentleman in a suit somewhere, sitting at the head of the table in a boardroom right now, smoking an expensive cuban cigar, saying "Because we can....and you'll still pay to go."
 
Take this for what it's worth.....but I spoke with a CM last week because I had emailed expressing displeasure in the fact that the Villians (for the most part) were not available for M&Gs this year.....it's our first MNSSHP and I was disappointed. A CM called me wanting to talk about it ;) She said that Disney listens to us and then i told her I would mention this so that maybe more people would email and express their displeasure as well. It doesn't hurt and maybe if enought people were unhappy they would try their best to accomodate? She also said that because of the number of Villian shows that M&Gs would be difficult. She also said that *if* rain canceled a Villian show that perhaps characters *would* be available since they wouldn't be in the show.

*sigh* At least Jack Skellington/Sally and Captain Jack should still be there.

Honestly, this seems like something that was said to make you feel like someone cares. There is no way they're going to change the character offerings after the first party occurs. Plus, character actors require training, and many times they don't have the staffing for all characters so they do a casting call for more actors, which also takes time. The best we can hope for is that they make changes to next year's party, but that doesn't help those of us who aren't planning on a Disney trip next year.

I'm going to wait until Tuesday and see who is actually being offered this year before writing Disney.
 
I think the idea was that if a Hocus Pocus show is cancelled due to weather that the villains will meet instead for a short while. Not a change of character offerings.

Yeah, there's no possible way the Sanderson Sisters and/or Oogie Boogie would end up doing M&Gs if it rains. That. Would. Be. Chaos.

ITA. There are no indoor venues available for meet & greets and they won't have characters outdoor without shelter.
