For those of us with bad eyes, it will be a bit more difficult to put our make-up on because it appears that the wall mounted magnifying mirror in the vanity area is gone as well.

Lots of little touches gone from our beloved GF.

Yes, and those touches were a part of the Disney magic...Sadly, as Circusgirl said, it's been downgraded to a more common and generic look. :confused3

Hey right back, Blue! :wave2: Did you have a nice weekend?

Everything else seems like a downgrade to me - fewer magical touches, no bench, no chair, and less space in the dresser. I agree that the painted walls are not as rich looking as the wallpaper was, and the rooms do look more cramped. How can they seem so small with fewer pieces of furniture? The bathroom decor is totally blah.

I agree with everything here and I feel the same way about the bathroom :(.

I noticed that when pics were first coming out and someone said its still there, just wasn't in the pic. But other pics I've seen (including the ones in that link/review), I still don't see one :confused3.

In at least one pic on trip advisor, it looks like there is a pretty tone-on-tone patterned wallpaper behind the beds on the wall. In these photos that I posted the link to, it doesn't look like it's there. (Or, is it just me not seeing it? Maybe I need to look at them again.)

Anyone staying recently see the wallpaper behind the beds? It looks like its in the photos on page 1 of this thread as well. Wonder why it looks like it's not in the room photos from the myfirstvisit review? Isn't that strange for something to be in some rooms but not others? Maybe they're adding things as they go? Ie: hamper, new ice bucket... Etc.

The makeup mirror is gone??? I rely on that!! I'm so blind without my reading glasses.

Mickeynut, I immediately thought of you this morning when DH and I had breakfast at Cracker Barrel...in the gift shop was a cute beachy-looking sign that said, "Dear Lord...please let it be a flip-flops day" (cute picture of flip flops included on the sign). :beach:

Just switched part of my October stay to GF club level (Sugar Loaf). So excited! Never stayed at GF before. Did Poly last October but no interest this year with construction. Was originally booked at WL (price), then moved to YC (for proximity to Food and Wine) now finally at GF when something opened up at a decent price for our stay. Here for good :)

I've checked out some info on Sugar Loaf, but does anyone have lists of the food available, particularly the hot appetizers/hors d'oeuvres? I was able to get a list of what was at the Poly before my CL stay there last year so just curious if anyone has seen something like that for GF!

I haven't seen any lists around with the hot appetizers listed. I would like to get an idea too.

We are doing a split stay in July, GF- SL/BWI.

Happy planning:goodvibes and maybe we'll be able to get some idea of what they serve for evenings before we go.

It looks to me that it's gone, but hopefully someone who is there now or is going soon will be able verify ;).

That sounds like a great sign :goodvibes. Hope you and DH had a great breakfast (we love Cracker Barrel ::yes::).

Congrats on your first upcoming GF stay. The GF is a beautiful resort, you're going to love it :goodvibes. I don't know of any other (specific) list of food offerings other than what's on page 1 of this thread (in the CL summary link), but maybe someone going soon will be able to take a pic of what's there.

Hi Jameroo,
About a week or so ago, I posted a link on this thread that has a nice write up and photos of the GF. Regarding the club level food, the author gets very specific and lists a lot of appetizers, drinks by name. It's the most specific list I've seen. (We too are going for the very first time to GF and staying CL SL this summer. Anyway, the blog that had the info if you can't find my link a handful of pages back is WDWLUXURYGUIDE , Carla Goldsbury is the blogger and if you look up her website/blog you'll find the info under the headings of -Magic Kingdom resort area, then click on Grand Floridian and just scroll down to see the club level write up. Enjoy! It sounds wonderful! I know I can't wait!

I asked this of a friend who stayed in a refurbed room recently...she said that the makeup mirror is still there ..just on the opposite wall....:thumbsup2

Lo...love it..That sure is MickeyNut :tiptoe:

Congrats on your first GF stay!!! I will be there next month...will try and get a list..or take notes..lol..to share here...:goodvibes

As I posted above..will try and get a list to share here...they have added several new appetizers and desserts recently...

The hamper makes an appearance in these photos

I'm glad to hear that!

Yes! I noticed that right away, but it seems smaller for some reason. But still no nesting table....and the walls look soooo plain :sad1:. I'm hoping that we like it better in person . We do spend a lot of time at the resort.[/QUOTE

It looks like it is either new or painted tan. I wonder if some of these items will look larger in person? Some look so small.

The wall behind the beds is a deep tan lightly patterned wall paper according to my friend...

I think it was CircusGirl posted pics of boxes that were being delivered to Conch during her visit. (thanks again circusGirl..for scoping it all out!! :3dglasses) ...and the box was marked nesting table?? Hmmm...wonder what happened...:confused3

Lots of little touches gone from our beloved GF.

I think that they did add some touches..like the mickeys on the sheer curtains... and the design on the back of the chair..I will miss the topiary wall paper with all of the characters tho..that was such an extra nice Disney touch...

Hey right back, Blue! :wave2: Did you have a nice weekend?

Hello again my friend! :wave2: Yes..it was thanks for asking...Hope you had a nice one too...Are you packing....:cheer2: Ready to be back at our happy place!!! :cloud9: get into "lounge lizard" mode...lol...A few of us have trips coming up soon!!! :goodvibes

How funny! This is our first ever split stay too, but just the opposite ...GF and then CR. Mother and DD trip sounds wonderful :cloud9:. I wish I could do that but then DH and DS would be super jealous :rolleyes1.

I added CR at the end as a surprise for my DD. She loves the GF and it's her number one choice, but she has always wondered about CR.

It's been very hard not saying anything to anyone. We go every to Disney, but the kids never know when it's going to happen. They say they like being surprised every time. They will have double surprise this year :yay: . They think we are visiting family after the GF and instead we are heading to CR. DH doesn't know about CR either ;). He also thinks we are visiting family as well :rotfl2:.

What a wonderful surprise!!! :goodvibes and what a good secret keeper...I don't think I would be able to do it that :upsidedow...It sure will be worth it tho....Please come back and let us know how the surprise went!! ::yes::

:wave2: MickeyNut, k&a&c'smom, Wishes, MommyGina Candy...and all the rest of my fellow GF fans!!

A special :wave2: to my friend Disney90..it was so much fun getting together yesterday..and talking about all things Grand!!! :goodvibes

~ I am still stalking...ummm I mean frequently checking..lol.. the Theme Park boards..trying to find out if there will be FPP to be had for the SDMT...???? :faint: No word yet... C'mon Disney...we're waiting!!! ;) lol...

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!! princess:

ETA..over on my smilies yet again!!! I think they need to raise the smilie limit around here...lol...

I read the blog regarding the offerings in CL. Chocolate covered strawberries are mentioned! I think I read before that they were no longer being offered.

Glad about the make up mirror still in the sink area. Thanks BLUE for checking.

Anyone have flip flop weather today? It's 44 degrees and pouring rain here.

:goodvibes

Thanks for the make up mirror info ;).

It depends on what you call flip flop weather . It's 50 degrees here with rain off and on and while that wouldn't be flip flop weather for some, there's no question for me whether or not the flip flops will be worn :rotfl2:.

Jameroo, here is the link. There is a giant list of delicious sounding treats! Can't wait!
http://www.wdwluxuryguide.com/exper...esort-area/disneys-grand-floridian-resort-spa

This is perfect, thank you so much!! It's exactly what I was looking for, just an idea of the things generally offered for "dinner". Food at Polynesian was incredible, and I'm sure it will be at Sugar Loaf too. That list has me drooling.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm so excited for my first GF stay in 166 days!

Jameroo, you're welcome! I hope a lot of people end up finding the info useful as well. It is quite a list of offerings! I'm looking forward to it ! :)

No flip flops here... more like "bring your kayak to work day" today ... 40's and rainy. :(

Where is the blog about CL? I must have missed that somewhere!

Ferrentinos, it's the 7th post prior to this post. Wdwluxuryguide has the detailed write up that lists food offerings CL.
