I'm sorry, I know this was addressed before, but I can't find it. The renovations going on at the Beach Club, then the Yacht Club. When was the expected time of these? My parents are staying at the Yacht Club for their 50th wedding anniversary in December, and I was thinking they may want to switch to the Beach Club if the construction has moved over to the YC by then. Thoughts??

This December? The BC won't be a quarter done by then. You're safe.

Since ~50% of the rooms have a full balcony and ~50% have the "Juliet" balcony, I'd say you have a ~50-50 chance. :rotfl::rotfl2:

If it is your #1 priority, I would make that your only request.

I guess ask a stupid question.... :rotfl2:

We're up for the same split this summer! Can't wait! Have never stayed on the dark side and have never even stepped foot in GF. Thanks for the Epcot transportation info Sue M and ScottMC!
Hi Happymomof1 we have a split stay YC/gf too!! We are going in August! You are going to love the gf!!

I don't want to dig though this entire 200 page thread, can someone please give me the low down on BC/YC construction?

Whats happening and when and where?

We stayed at the YC 2 summers ago, Yachtsman and Hurricane Hannah's were being renovated and the YC/BC were having work down on the outside....

Thank you!

As I side note I love this tread its so helpful:love:

About every five years the halls and rooms of EVERY resort at WDW get renovated. There are two types. Soft goods and hard goods. Last time was a soft goods ... it was about five years ago.

Renovations on the outside (painting, siding, roofing and all maintenance) is done as needed.

The hard goods renovation (rooms will be stripped down and new everything from new sinks, new air conditioning units, new everything pretty much except I think the TVs are staying since they are fairly new .. anyway, that renovation is starting in the Fall at the BC, then I heard the BCV will start while the BC is going on and then when the BC is done, the YC will be done. They start on the fifth floor and the club level will be closed while it is going on.

THANK YOU TEENA! :goodvibes

This will be our first trip to the BC in August, wondering how (if at all)the renovations will affect our trip?

This August? They won't be started that you will notice. They might be working on the lounge on club level but that's it. The rooms are due to start in the Fall ... October.

I am a little excited to say the least. Disney was off the table this year and then my DH and I just decided last week to go for it and we managed to get trip/airfare booked in a few days. Now my 3 kids are ALL over me and in FULL planning mode.

There is nothing better than a trip to the world. Amazing how it feels

The BC was not my first choice, but I soon turned that around, and am feeling like we might have found a new home :goodvibes

Thank you for the information, Teena.

Can anyone recall how quickly the last hard goods renovation progressed? I know the GF room renovations are taking about 1-1.5 months per outer building (January-July total timeframe), for example, so I'm wondering how long each floor might take at the BC. Would the entire renovation likely also take about 6 months (e.g. March/April completion)?

We are considering the BC for a mid-January 2015 trip and would like to stay in a newly renovated room, but not sure if that might be cutting it too close. Do you guys think it's likely that they would have completed more than the CL lounge and 5th floor come January? The renovations will definitely still be ongoing then, so how disruptive might that work be with regard to noise from your room, etc.? I assume that the visual disturbance is minimal, although perhaps not with workers going in and out with materials.

Thanks for your help! :)

We have stayed at 4 resorts during hard goods refurbs and each time we had no idea they were going on. Twice I only found out when doing the survey while checking out they specifically asked if the the refurb bothered us in any way. The other 2 times I overhead CMs talking about it. The resorts usually do a very good job of keeping guests away from the areas they are working on.

I had memory maker on my trip in March. I thought only my magic band had it on but the entire family had it linked. I did nothing to make that happen. It was automatic. Every night I would go online and look at the photos it was a great purchase. I loved it.

Thanks! This is really great information to have! I was wondering exactly how the memory maker works now. Last fall when I was at WDW they did not yet have the memory maker on the magic bands. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great information Teena! Great to hear such a concise summary. ::yes::

Soft goods took about 9 months for each building I believe...might have been longer. This is going to be longer from what I hear. I'd estimate around a year for each resort. I'd say the only newly renovated room you might get in mid-January 2015 would be club level (fifth floor) and even that is a long shot.

All noise work is done between 9AM and 5PM (when people are at the pool or at the parks). As far as seeing anything ... very little if any.

Personally I would never NOT book a room at a Disney resort because they are having renovations done. If you are a regular Disney guest, you have probably been at a Disney resort during renovations and didn't even know.

Thanks for your comment! People are so scared the rehab will disrupt their stay.

Just purchased a nautical "anchors" themed tankini for our trip... can't wait to use it at SAB woohoo!!!

Something triggered my Disney bug and have started thinking about our next trip. Just starting to keep an eye on this board because we are really thinking about staying at BC. (Always been a MK resort area girl). We would hope to stay club level, wondering if thee club level renovations would be done by May 2015. Anyone with any thoughts?
