It took us many years to try an Epcot resort... I'm not straying from my favorite restaurants...so I'm right there with you on not doing the golden spoon thing! I bet you've got us beat, however:)
:) This is our first stay at an Epcot resort. As a family that is, DH and I were "walked from GF RPC on our couple trip" to a gorgeous YC suite and I had a broken ankle so my hubby did all the walking ;) (We did do BCV in 2005, I had a few less kids...we drove to Epcot since I had no idea you could walk there....so I don't count that trip-no swimming either since it was a very cold February). There's some favorites that DH no longer enjoys like Ohana and Chef Mickey, one bad experience is all he needs LOL I can't wait to finally try BC!!!

Fantastic start!!!

I would love if you could post some room pictures in the BC Room View thread in the Resort Photos subforum, when you return home.

:goodvibes:

Thanks for posting about the results of your drink tinkering.

:tinker:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

In addition to page 309, in the very first post on this thread, we have updates with rehab news and links to several posts with pictures of the refurbished rooms.

:)

Congrats to your son, but that is a shame about the increased airfare.

I'll change the dates on the BOG list.

::yes::

:welcome:

Have a fantastic trip.

:woohoo:

I think some of the worst SV rooms are near the end of the resort, so requesting "Near lobby" might be a good way to avoid those views.

:)

Got it!

:thumbsup2

Not sure if you have posted here before.

:welcome:

Have you considered giving your contact info to the CL CMs to pass along to the other family. That way if they are interested, they can contact you.

Thank you to your husband for his service and my condolences to all of the families and friends who lost loved ones.

I posted this on my trip report after my family's visit to Pearl Harbor:

Lost Submarine Memorial

This marker to lives lost in submarine disasters has a personal meaning for my family. My dad worked at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard for 30 years. He was one of the engineers who worked on the Thresher submarine. He was scheduled to be on board for a test dive, but one of my dad’s coworkers wanted to go in my father’s place.

Over 50 years ago, on April 10, 1963 the Thresher submerged and never resurfaced. The 129 casualties is the largest number of lives lost in a US submarine disaster. To this day, my dad attends the annual memorial service and has often been the escort for his coworker’s widow and family.

Here's a recent selfie of me and my dad

Great picture I am happy for you and your family that your dad was spared
That is fantastic of your father attending and helping out others with the memorial services. He is a special man. The monument is nice.
God bless the Thresher sailors.
There is also a yearly memorial service in Mayport FL for the Stark sailors. It is nice when people take the time to remember our fallen heroes.

Hahahaha! I had the same exact thought. Where has Ninja Mom been?

I'm Baaack!

Ninja Mom has been running her Princess Leia buns off at Star Wars Weekends. It was the last couple of days of Flower and Garden at Epcot and the first Star Wars Weekend. Now that we have to 'advance plan' a Disney vacation to within an inch on a minute I was busy, busy, busy chasing the Jawas and the Modal Nodes and Trash talking to Darth Maul. Darth Maul was extremely surprised to hear that his Mom was in my book club and that I had her number on speed dial on my phone, so he had better behave! Poor fellow just about crapped in his karate pants when he heard that. Not even the Sith Lords are dumb enough to mess with Ninja Mom!

I did do a daily sweep of the pool chairs at "Plop Century" where I was staying and I am happy to announce that since there are no towels available at the pool so there was no hogging of the chairs. I also enjoyed an after park SHOWER in the Pool side locker room at the Hippy Dippy pool (an unfortunate pool name if ever there was one...). When I stay at the Beach Club in August I hope to make management feel guilty that a VALUE resort has a shower amenity for it's guests to use while the Deluxe Level guest staying at the Beach/Yacht Club has to fly home smelling like a barnyard animal after a day in the heat at the parks/ pool visit before a late flight out.

I did have a chance to connect with Hockey Mom and meet the rest of her hockey team while at Magic Kingdom yesterday. Her family wisely chose to abandon us as we chatted away in the lobby of the "Haul" of Presidents. Luckily because of the heat they didn't get far and she managed to find them clinging to an air conditioning duct in a gift shop.

So I am back home now and completely exhausted. I was amazed at how hot is was in Orlando. It seems as if the weather has gone straight into high heat/humidity summer like conditions with the inevitable mid afternoon, pop up/leave by dinner, thunderstorm. Plan accordingly if you have a trip coming up and invest heavily in deodorant/antiperspirant products!

OK, you all know my computer expertise ... lack thereof to be sure! How do you do the Spoon Test? Can I just click on something??

Here is the link I followed...I don't think you can really SEE your results though until you paste the code into the Forum Post box...I'd like to do mine again because I missed several, but the dang thing is SO long, it really takes up a lot of space here...

Go ahead and do it again. Post your results in the new box/post and if you feel guilty about the space, go back and edit your original Golden Spoon survey post to "."

However, it appears that the sky is now the limit on post counts for a thread.

I enjoyed seeing your list, Teena! I knew the places in Mexico and Morocco would not be on your list, although they are some of our favorites.

I would invite you to join me at All Star Movies food court on Monday June 8, to tick that one off the list, but I believe you leave for Europe soon after that (then next day)?

:goodvibes:

OMG. Teena wins the spoon no doubt on that one.

And again Dee, I apologise for starting this :charac2:

No worries! I'm not going to do it, though, because I have only eaten at an embarrassingly small number of these places, we tend to go back to the same favorites again and again..

:thumbsup2

Okay, I'm embarrassed. I'm in that catagory of not wandering far from what has worked before.

Hey, if you are anything like us, when we find something we like, we have a fear that something else may not measure up and don't want to waste the opportunity....Rose & Crown, Tony's, Chef of France....to name a few of my favorites...

I do know that some of my OLD favorites have fallen into the category of "never again, you cheater!!" after some really bad experiences, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back to them.

This fall, my hubby and I are doing the Deluxe meal plan, and will be going back to many of our favorites, but also 5 of the Signature restaurants...looking forward to trying these out!!!

And with the Food & Wine event, I'm thinking we will check off lots of those at Epcot!

Guess I have to expand my eating habits!!!!

Today is a sorrowful day in our household. On this day we remember the 37 sailors lost in the attack on the USS Stark which I am thankful that my husband survived but other families were not so fortunate. So I was happy to receive my birthday gift from my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons a day early to cheer me up a little bit on this sad day. Thought I would share it with my favorite people on the disboards because I'm sure some of you feel the same way as I do about Disney.

This put a smile on my face!! Look for the mickey head. I am looking forward to my next trip to the Beach Club in August. Can't wait!!!!

I forgot to comment on this post. I'm so sorry for the families who lost someone that day. And I can't imagine what it must have been like for you having your husband on board.

Dee, what an amazing story. Thank you for sharing that with us. And I love the selfie with Dad!

We also tend to eat at the same Disney restaurants year after year. In August, we are branching out slightly and trying out Raglan Road. And I'm hoping to swing by Trader Sam's while we're at the WL. We'll see. Seems odd to take a toddler in there, so that might have to wait until another day.

My view today was six pages of contract terms and conditions in six-point font. Dreary. I tallied up the amounts billed to my insurance company for Aria's two surgeries this year and realized I will have that paperwork view for a very long time to come.
