Adults only trip is booked! First time staying at the YC and we will be trying CL also....Jan 11-15....sooo excited! We stayed BC CL in 2011 with our family of 4. A trip just with DH is long overdue! I should feel guilty, but I don't! :rotfl:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

What is a Sunken Treasure and where can I get one?!!

Wood Nymph provides the recipe below, but there is a whole section devoted to the Sunken treasure on Page 2 of this thread.

See below.

:thumbsup2

You can get them at Hurricane Hana's, the pool bar at the Yacht and Beach Club. Here is a list of ingredients:

Sunken Treasure- recipe by medicgirl177
1 1/2 shots Midori
1 shot Malibu Coconut Rum
1 shot orange juice
1 shot pineapple juice
Sprite or 7-Up to fizzy taste
1 shot Blue Curaçao
Over ice
Dress with Pineapple slice, cherry, or umbrella

Wow! Look at you answering questions quickly while on vacation!

Contents: Malibu Rum, Midori, orange juice, pineapple juice and Sprite with a splash of BOLS Blue Curacao.

Thanks, pixarmom, Feckless, WDW4us2006 and Ninja Mom for the photos!

Please note that the Sunken Treasure is no longer on the menu at Hurricane Hanna's, however if you get a bartender who knows how to make the drink, you may still be in luck!

Thanks to medicgirl177, who experiemented at great personal risk to decipher the secret formula:

Would you please add us to the BOG list for 7/17-7/26. We are staying at BC CL and celebrating DD's 21st b'day our first Saturday and DS's 19th our last Saturday there.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at YC. Had a garden view room with a king bed. Room was in decent shape but the bathroom door did scrape the toilet when it was closed. Made us laugh every time it happened. View was meh, other side of small tree line was a parking lot that was being worked on. Reinforced why we loved our LV room this summer and why I needed to book a LV again. Had a great time-lots of firsts-Wild Africa Trek, MNSSHP and Food & Wine. Can't wait to be back home next summer!

Thank you!

:thumbsup2

Nice!!! So is that just a standard room with a king bed and bonus wet bar, or something else?

:cool1:

I looked yesterday for a live report link. Are you doing one for this trip or just takin' it easy?

:goodvibes

I'm not sure, we were booked for water view and my two requests were "high floor" and "king bed". This does seem to be some sort of executive king type room because it's quite large and has the extra wet bar. There is a big suite right above us so maybe the floor plan lent itself to an unusual room layout. We've really enjoyed it. :)
No live report, just lots of live tweets. @Erika_Murphy Also I'm doing at photobucket album for trip pics here: http://s59.photobucket.com/user/ekmurphy12/library/Disney and Universal Sept 2014
I will do a blog about the trip in more detail when I get home. :goodvibes
Tomorrow I'm off to Portofino and Universal for a few days. :thumbsup2

Erika, This is IMHO the best place to be at the YC if you have a water view. It is easy access to the secret entrance, close to everything (except the lobby) and you can't beat the view when sitting on the veranda. We had a room once that was just to the right of yours. Unbelievable times. Hope the vacation is going great. I also look forward to doing the Sunken Treasurer on my next trip so I can form my own opinion of that green concoction.

Katesdad

I agree, it's a great location. We have our own elevator down here, ice machine right across from our room, laundry room very close, and exit to the boardwalk takes us right to the boat. It's quiet, the view is great, we've really enjoyed it. :goodvibes The only negative is the distance from the lobby, but we utilized the wet bar area for extra snacks and drinks so we haven't needed to venture to the lobby area much. :thumbsup2

The funny thing about the Sunken Treasure was that it cost less the DH's Sangria, but had more expensive booze in it. ;)

We spent part of the afternoon at SAB in the lazy river again. It was been really nice. The pool was a little more crowded today. There were still open chairs, though.

We took the MK bus both today and yesterday mornings and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for one. Neither times were full loads.

Epcot is packed with people today. Not only is the Food & Wine Festival going on, but it is the last night for the group Off Kilter, World Showcase Players and Spirit of America. We saw fans lining up early to catch the next Off Kilter performance. And tomorrow is the last of the Frozen fireworks, parade and ice skating at DHS. The fireworks were awesome. :thumbsup2

We are eating dinner tonight at Cape May Cafe and then tomorrow we check out. :sad1: It was a very short, but very nice, trip. We've done more "firsts" on this short trip then on any other, I think. :)

Oh my goodness we were all around each other tonight!! :) We spent the evening at F&W and then walked through BC and right past Cape May back to YC. I agree Epcot was super crowded, we saw all the Off Kilter fans and Mo'Rockin fans. Looked like lots of tears and hugs were being shared.

I was looking for you, too, but didn't see you.

It took me 7 minutes and 47 seconds to walk from the YC lobby through the touch posts at the International Gateway at a brisk pace.

Two big firsts for the day - we made it to the welcome show at the MK and I tried my first, and last, Sunken Treasure.

It is just a little too much coconut-y for me. But I'm glad I tried it. :)

I also learned how to take a screen print of my fastpass selections on my iPhone5 so that I don't have to open the MDE app to get my fp times. (You hold down the power button then click on the round button and it takes a picture. The picture will be in with the photos and you can delete it whenever the day is done. :)

Too coconut may be my undoing, but I tried a lapu lapu at the poly, so I'll try a sunken treasure at BC. It'll be difficult, but I'll take one for the team on account of 'research'. :rotfl2:

Great idea to screen capture your FP+s - I kept writing mine down each day to make sure I didn't lose any if MDE went down.

Teena says

"We're home after a magical week on the Disney Fantasy and a fantastic day on Castaway Cay. First load of wash is in washer! Back to the Beach Club on Sunday."

Here's a few pictures from the cruise- I have a couple more posted in the Lily Goes Live thread. Link is in my signature.

Wow! That looked magical! I'm really thinking a cruise will be a good addition to our vacation plans one day in the future.

Thanks so much for the recipe!

I have a few more times:

The refill station at Hurricane Hana's closes around 8 pm. It takes about two minutes to walk there from the YC lobby.

It takes about five minutes to walk to or from the BC Marketplace to the YC lobby.

It is very annoying not to have some sort of quick service with refill station at the YC. Otherwise, the YC is a really nice resort.

We got permission to check out late tomorrow. We will be able to keep the room until we have to meet the Magical Express. We'll have plenty of time to say hello to Teena. We also plan to run over to DHS and maybe have time for a quick swim. It will be great to have the room for a couple extra hours. :)

We are here right now too, also leaving
Tomorrow and feel the same way about the mugs!!!! This is our first trip to YC not CL and have ddp mugs. We miss not having a station on the way to the bus like the other resorts. It would be nice if they put in like a coke free style machine with the RFID plate! We plan on noting that in the survey email.

First thing in morning on way to bus we like stopping at the bar off YC lobby for coffee mug fill up. It would be nice for those who like pop to be able to get mug fills there too.

Safe travels to all leaving tomorrow. The saddest day :sad1:

They will fill your refillable mug at the Ale and Compass. The bartender fills the cup using one of those types of hand held dispensers that bars have for soft drinks. It looks like a hose with buttons for the drink selections at the nozzle. I'm sure there is a technical name for it. :upsidedow He has to do it for you. The bartender will also fill a water bottle for you. So you can get the mugs refiled, but only when the bar is open, which is 6 am to noon in the morning. But it is such a bother to do it that way. And you can't get ice tea at the Ale & Compass, only hot tea and coffee.

Sounds like you are having an amazing trip :goodvibes Thanks for all your research/information for this thread :thumbsup2 Safe travels :)
Thanks. It's been fun to explore the resort a little. :)

I am doing a split stay on our next trip in November. In my MDE there are 2 sets of Magic Bands. I only customized the first set and not the set for the portion at the yacht club which is where we are staying on the second half of our trip. Is it necessary to bring both set of Magic Bands or just bring the Bands from the 1st half of our trip and have them program them at the front desk at the yacht club when we check in?

If I remember it correctly, the first set of bands should work without you having to go to the front desk when you check in for the second half of your trip. But I could be wrong. We did a split stay in August YC/POR. The POR bands didn't work til we checked in there. But I think the YC bands worked without having to be programmed. You definitely won't need the second set of bands. We had the Frozen bands from HS and they worked at both resorts.

Beach Club reservation for 9/2/15 - 9/6/15! This will be a no kids trip for DH and I to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We have only been to the World twice and stayed at value resorts both times.

This is just a quick trip but I'm really looking forward to trying a deluxe resort! We got what seems like a great deal so even though it's still expensive we are going to splurge :)

Now I'm going to read this entire thread :)

You can have your mug filled with soda while the Ale & Compass is open from 6:00 am to noon, BUT i gave up waiting a few mornings last August as there was long lines for those ordering breakfast items and only one person working behind the bar. Most mornings my family was waiting to catch a bus so I gave up waiting in line. I believe the coffee is self serve though. Not sure why they don't put a set up in the YC's gift shop??

We are checking in on Saturday, Nov. 7. Our plans are to check in, and then return our rental car to the WDW Dolphin hotel and walk back to the Beach Club. About how long should we expect our walk to be? Just want to be prepared!

So excited! We have just booked to stay for 2 weeks at the BC in a garden view room from 30th April 15!! :dance3: It will also be my birthday on our first full day! We have wanted to stay here for so long but it has always worked out a little pricey for us, though we have booked a trip here once 3 years so nearly got to go there, but then had to cancel because of a house move. When we are at WDW we always come here for drinks, and meals, and dream about staying there and being able to walk in and out of EPCOT. We love the whole boardwalk vibe. So, a decent price came up (only £100 more than the WL for the 14 nights) and we decided to splurge!

We really want a full balcony so I am sending that wish up to the Blue Fairy so she can get working on it until it is time to send my room request in ;) :wizard:

Have read the first few posts of this thread...now I am off to read the rest :goodvibes
