Checking in tomorrow morning too!! Hoping for a ready room but based off the rack rate on wdw.com, it looks like the resort is pretty full tonight-this weekend! Looking forward to F&W too!!!

Question for all….

Is there anywhere at YC (morning) to redeem a DDP mug? I'd like to get coffee before I head to work for the day but didn't know if there was anywhere at YC to get the mug without having to go to BC. Thanks!!!

You used to be able to purchase a refill mug at the Ale and Compass lounge in the YC lobby during the morning hours. As far as I know you still can, but I can't remember if they were out when I was there in August.

:)

Our family has stayed at the YC the past two years in August and we are getting ready to book again for August 2015. With the anticipation of newly refurbished rooms at the BC, two of us want to give BC a try (never stayed there before) and others want to stay at the YC again to guarantee a full balcony. Any ideas to help me sway family members into booking the BC? Do we think all the rooms at the BC will be refurbed by late August 2015? We are comfortable at the YC but the idea of a newly refurbished room is surely enticing. Also, are there the same amount of rooms at the BC as the YC? Can the walk to the elevators be just as long at the BC as the YC? Unfortunately, we can only get a standard view with the agency we use and so I'm interested in any opinions of standard views room locations and views at the BC as opposed to the YC. Thanks!

Thanks! The last two times I stayed at YC, I was CL or came from another resort the night before with a mug already.
I will check tomorrow and let everyone know! Less than 12 hours till I check in!

We looked for you all over SAB and never could find you. :confused3 We circled the lazy river for about an hour and not a buzz did we hear. :sad1:

It wasn't crowded at all at SAB. There were plenty of open chairs, which is always nice. There don't seem to be very many school age kids here right now.

Perhaps I can help here...

Was the pool filled with a convention of Cougar type ladies downing fruity drinks one after another? Buzzy seems to have an eye (or two, or three...) for the older ladies, especially if they are buying him those Sunken Treasures.

When Couchy comes down he is all over her so we will have to see if she has an Alibi!

I've read the whole thread and it is very informative and amazing!!

I've never been to the Epcot resorts so this is all new to me.

I have a few questions:

Do you recommend a night off to just roam the Boardwalk?? We live about 45 minutes from Atlantic City so are used to boardwalks.

What are some must do's on the boardwalk?

What restaurants on the boardwalk do you recommend?

Curious about this too, as we're planning a couple nights to just hang out on the Boardwalk. Based on what people who stay there regularly say, it's definitely worth spending a night hanging out there. So we're going to have a resort day and then head over to the Boardwalk :)

The Ale and Compass is open for Continental breakfast from 6am to noon. I've seen the refillable mugs for sale there. The campfire ended at 8pm tonight. The movie started at 8:30pm.

We had another good day in which we did most of the things we had wanted to do. We saw the Frozen parade and enjoyed the sing along. Then we got back to the YC early so that we could eat lunch and swim at SAB. There were plenty of chairs in the shade, but we spent the first hour in the lazy river. It was really nice. I can see how families can spend a whole day there.

We went into Epcot in time to get some Food and Wine and listen to the Commodores. Unfortunately the skies opened up and we got rained on but not rained out. We stood under the DVC sales booth umbrella and enjoyed the music. We did make it over to Hollywood Studios in plenty of time for Fantasmic, but didn't stay to watch it. :( I caught some of the movie on beach, which was Frozen. I left after the big Let It Go scene and watched the major fireworks from the boat dock. It was a nice way to end the day. :)

Tomorrow we are attempting something that we have never done before, catch the welcome show at the Magic Kingdom. The park opens at 9am and we have a head start on all those Beach Club people here at the Yacht Club. ;)

Hi all! Thought this might be the best place to ask a few questions with regard to a potential resort change over Easter 2015 from GF to BC. This is a splurge trip for a big bday for me and since my dream was always GF, that's where we are currently booked. (Actually, the dream was GF CL, but the splurge didn't stretch quite that far.:scared1:) However, I'm the only one excited about GF and as time ticks on, the more selfish I feel about that. So, I'm revisiting the idea of the BC as I think it might be a good happy medium. DH would never stay anywhere other than WL if it were up to him and DD10 just wants somewhere that feels more like "Disney" to her.

There are plenty of pros for making the change, but the big con for me is the bus transport to MK as we are there almost daily (if only for a quick pop-by). We will be at EP more than usual this time as this is our first peak season trip and I am actually going to follow a crowd calender for the first time ever.. I'm mainly afraid of the potential for so many resorts sharing buses at such a busy time and how much of a negative impact that may have for us. So, does anyone here know if sharing is more or less likely during peak times?

My other concern due to sharing is how packed will SAB be? We've always drooled a bit when walking by that pool and it's a big plus for changing resorts, but is it going to be so crazy crowded that it will be hard to enjoy?:crowded:

I should also add that BC CL might just be feasible!

I appreciate any input the BC pros can offer!:thumbsup2

I always have an alibi

I checked with Ale and Compass because I was down there getting a coffee. They have purple and green mugs for sale. If you want the other colors you have to go to Beach Club Marketplace. :)

I took a bunch of pics of my room when I checked in :)

Nice!!! So is that just a standard room with a king bed and bonus wet bar, or something else?

:cool1:

I looked yesterday for a live report link. Are you doing one for this trip or just takin' it easy?

:goodvibes

Two big firsts for the day - we made it to the welcome show at the MK and I tried my first, and last, Sunken Treasure.

It is just a little too much coconut-y for me. But I'm glad I tried it. :)

I also learned how to take a screen print of my fastpass selections on my iPhone5 so that I don't have to open the MDE app to get my fp times. (You hold down the power button then click on the round button and it takes a picture. The picture will be in with the photos and you can delete it whenever the day is done. :)

Erika, This is IMHO the best place to be at the YC if you have a water view. It is easy access to the secret entrance, close to everything (except the lobby) and you can't beat the view when sitting on the veranda. We had a room once that was just to the right of yours. Unbelievable times. Hope the vacation is going great. I also look forward to doing the Sunken Treasurer on my next trip so I can form my own opinion of that green concoction.

We are booked 8/27-9/5 at the BC. Sooooooooooooo looking forward to staying here for the first time. It's my dream resort and I finally get to stay here. :goodvibes

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

It took us 19 minutes to walk from the YC wedding gazebo to the entrance of DHS. We beat the boat by a lot. We couldn't even see a boat coming toward the park.

That's exactly the kind of important information I am looking for! Thanks!

:thumbsup2

Hubs & I are booked at YC next year... 9/6-9/12!

Can't wait.. I've stayed at Swan/Dolphin a couple of times now & have had YC on our 'To Do' list for awhile. I couldn't pass up the Free Dining Bounceback offer during my stay at CBR :D

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:woohoo:

Hi all!

It's been a while (and many threads!) since I last popped in here. I stayed at BC for my first time this past February during Princess weekend. I am excited to say that this January, I will be staying BCV for Marathon weekend! I was playing around with my dates today and found that check in on Saturday opened up a studio for just about the same price i was ready to pay for WL! I am so excited!! :yay::yay:

I look forward to catching up on this thread and re-familiarizing myself with B&YC and all of you! :)

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:welcome: to the thread!

If you will be spending a lot of time at EPCOT, the Beach Club can't be beat! I was there in August, and it was literally a 5 minute (I timed it) from the BC lobby back entrance to the International Gateway. My family tends to "pop-in" more to EP than MK.

The bus from the Beach Club to MK takes 12-15 minutes (again, timed it). You have to factor in wait time for the bus. It certainly is not as convenient to pop in to MK from BC, but I don't find the ride there to be that bad. Sometimes there is a long wait for the bus to return to the resort- I experienced that on my last trip- but usually what my family does is take the monorail back from MK to EPCOT on our way back to BC because that way we get to enjoy a few attractions along the way. This method takes longer, but we love it.

At busy times of the year (like Easter), the buses to the parks should not be sharing with other resorts, so it will just be YC/BC.

Stormalong Bay is great! It will be crowded at Easter, but I have been at the resort when it is fully booked, and there is plenty of room in the pool. The lazy river can get congested, depending on the time of day. The bigger problem with the pool can be finding a chair for your stuff, because people do try to reserve loungers with a towel for long periods of time.

Hope this helps!

:)

I'm planning a big 40th Birthday celebration for myself, family and friends next September at WDW. I've always wanted to stay at BC/YC. I'm leaning toward renting DVC points for a 2-bedroom BCV.

I know the schedule isn't available for renovations, but I'm wondering if the BCV's will be renovated by this time next year? I love the resort feel, and the location can't be beat for Food & Wine Festival. If BCV's are under construction, my 2nd choice would be BLT, since they sleep 9 people and have 3 full baths, and are so close to MK and EPCOT.

I'm so curious, too, as to what the renovations will look like! Do you all think they'll be drastically different? Structurally, they can't do much different, so I'm sure they will still sleep 8 and will have only 2 full baths.

Thanks for the help!

Teena says

"We're home after a magical week on the Disney Fantasy and a fantastic day on Castaway Cay. First load of wash is in washer! Back to the Beach Club on Sunday."

Here's a few pictures from the cruise- I have a couple more posted in the Lily Goes Live thread. Link is in my signature.

Thanks much! That info is a HUGE help! Now to buckle down and make a decision. Wish me luck!!

Adults only trip is booked! First time staying at the YC and we will be trying CL also....Jan 11-15....sooo excited! We stayed BC CL in 2011 with our family of 4. A trip just with DH is long overdue! I should feel guilty, but I don't! :rotfl:

The funny thing about the Sunken Treasure was that it cost less the DH's Sangria, but had more expensive booze in it. ;)

We spent part of the afternoon at SAB in the lazy river again. It was been really nice. The pool was a little more crowded today. There were still open chairs, though.

We took the MK bus both today and yesterday mornings and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for one. Neither times were full loads.

Epcot is packed with people today. Not only is the Food & Wine Festival going on, but it is the last night for the group Off Kilter, World Showcase Players and Spirit of America. We saw fans lining up early to catch the next Off Kilter performance. And tomorrow is the last of the Frozen fireworks, parade and ice skating at DHS. The fireworks were awesome. :thumbsup2

We are eating dinner tonight at Cape May Cafe and then tomorrow we check out. :sad1: It was a very short, but very nice, trip. We've done more "firsts" on this short trip then on any other, I think. :)

What is a Sunken Treasure and where can I get one?!!

You can get them at Hurricane Hana's, the pool bar at the Yacht and Beach Club. Here is a list of ingredients:
