**2013** What's on the Emerald Aisle???

Well we picked up our car on Wed 4/17 @ 9:30am
not alot of choices on B side. It was all 200's almost. We took the lowest mileage one with 4000 miles on it. It was NOT a convertible, and had a large trunk. The engine NOT peppy at all. My beetle would put that big car to shame. :thumbsup2
Also seen at that time: 1 equinox suv, and 2 other larger suv's. 1 mustange [not convertible] we actually almost took that but it had an odd smell. The man working even had its window's open to air it out. :confused3
Otherwise a couple of camary's.

We return car on april 25th, but where wayyyyyyyyy late so didn't have time to snoop around, sorry.

Thanks for the update. Were the SUVs on the regular aisle or executive?

Thanks for the update also. We pick up on Tuesday April 30th (Executive Aisle) around 4:00PM. I will post back.

The equinox was on executive side and the other 2 suv's where on the regular EA.
The mustange was on regular EA.
Not sure what a 200 is considered. EA I would think could consider it either full size or midsizz. I guess I would consider it midsize with a 300 full size?

The 200 is a standard. The 300 is a Premium.

picked up on 4/30 side A @ 4:00PM. The regular aisle had a variety of cars and I saw 2 minivans. I didn't see any other type of SUVs. We are Executive aisle members and the Exec. Aisle was packed with a variety of choices. Pretty much something from every size. Lots of larger vehicles plus a few SUVs (volvo), regular size SUVs and full size SUVs (suburans and tahoes). Several minivans (T&C). I didn't see any convertibles. We were hoping for something that seated 6 as we have family coming next week, and luckily for us we had a nice selection. It saved us from having to rent a second car next week. We took a suburan with 3 miles on it! we were excited to get something roomy enough for our trip to Vero Beach next week. It worked out great for us so now my DD can cancel her rental for next week. It's been raining since we got here Tuesday night and doesn't look any better for the next few days. We are here for another 2+ weeks, so hopefully the sun will come out by next week. The weather shows rain all weekend.

Nice catch on the Burb. It is a Premium SUV, the Tahoe being the full size one. I hope the weather improves. I live here, I love the rain, but, I would not be all that enthused if I were on vacation.

I just signed up with National for this perk. But i need a minivan for my next trip so I am sure I will get a "minivan'' isle

If you need a mini van, then book a mini van, it will be called a Emerald Reserve, you will go to the mini van row (area) and select your car. There will be someone at the little kiosk there to direct you.

Been looking at rates for Oct. 2013 and so far National seems to have the lowest with KLM code. I'm already signed up with Emerald Club but have yet to rent from National so this all new to me. (rented from Alamo last time).

I read on the site as a Emerald Club member you just reserve a mid-size and then go straight to the Aisle or Executive areas to pick out any car. The question is, what will rate will you be charge if say you get "Mid-size" suv? The rate you booked a mid-size sedan at? or the rate of the mid-size SUV?

*Edited - I think I understand the process now after watching the videos. If I want to guarantee to have a certain vehicle, then I should book that vehicle. If I want to chance it with the emerald then book a midsize and hope for the best.

gmeh1, what is in the lineup for National / Alamo for Std SUV's nowadays?

Does National EA ever have any SUV's with the third row? Or a class of SUV that I could Book as Em reserve? We are a family of 3 meeting my sister and her family of 3 in Orlando. Would like to be able to travel around together. Do not really need a minivan as we would not have luggage with us then.

Thanks,
Tammy

Picked up our car on 5/1 at about 10:00 am on the B side. Emerald Aisle was full of mid size and full size sedans. There was also one minivan and one really smelly mid size SUV. Exec Aisle had a few SUV's and several large sedans.

Wondering, is there a quick way to compare A side EA available cars against B side? Rather than walking back through the airport to compare, I was not sure if I just asked someone in the garage whether they would be able to tell me what's on the other side or not....

Other than physically walking from one side to the other, no, there is no way to know what is on the other side. The greeters at National do not have radios or any way to communicate from one side to the other.

Is there a simple way to do this from within the garage? Or Does that mean walking outside, looking around, going back in the airport and going down to the other side and walking around? I know, odd question, but as I normally fly one particular airline I almost always come in on the a side but I almost always end up in the garage on the b side. Until this discussion, I did not even realize that there was another garage on the a side. Never had to go down there LOL

no, nothing simple about getting from one side to the other. They are two separate garages on opposite sides of the airport. I used to direct people to go into the airport, take the escalator to the 3 floor walk across the food court, take the elevator back down to the 1st floor and cross the street into the garage. They do not connect at all.
