**2013** What's on the Emerald Aisle???

The greeters at National do not have radios or any way to communicate from one side to the other.

The greeters may not, but the office in the garage certainly does. I had a resevation for a convertible, and asked if any Mustangs were available; There weren't any on the B side, but the employees in the office were able to call the A side, confirm that there were, and have one brought over. This is the kind of service that has won National my loyalty, even when they're not the cheapest.

That is not necessarily true. They radio the request and if it is available it can come from the other side or from inventory or from prep or from overflow. And, it needs to be a specific request, not a " gee, what do you have over there" and expect a list. An Emerald request is different than an Emerald Reserve, one is specific the other is general. When I worked there, we did our best to make people happy, but, a list just is not happening.

In other words, there is a "way to communicate from one side to the other", contrary to what you previously implied, and consistent with what I posted.

On the 17th, circa 6pm on the B side, I grabbed a Dodge Challenger that had just been added to the EA. The aisle was fully stocked but nothing else special was to be seen.

The garage greeter at National has NO way to communicate. And, often it is very very busy at the Alamo side where any communication can take place. And, I can promise you that they are not going to send someone over to the EA to list what is there. As I stated, an Emerald Reserve is way different than the EA. What you posted is comparing apples to oranges. I stated, specific requests, not a list.

Trying to figure out car rental for 7/4 at MCO. I have never needed to pick up on the holiday. Any idea what might be available? I am thinking it may be slim pickings. Thanks!

July 4th will be a very busy time. I have not seen good pickings there in the past when I picked up a few days before. Be sure you booked something you can live with (In other words this is NOT the time to book the midsize and "assume" you will find a minivan or SUV on the aisle!)

And the last few times I have been there the "greeter" is more like the "rude man yelling at folks" LOL! And the office in the garage is often not open. (The "greeter" YELLED at me when I asked where the Premium cars were "WE DON'T HAVE THESE IN ORLANDO" My response was "why did you rent me one?" , he sent me to Alamo then LOL!) In addition, even if they do bother to call and ask (and don't just send you over there to get rid of you) there's no guarantee the car you are chasing will still be on the other side...

I flew into John Wayne (closest airport to Disneyland) last week. Once again there was a family upset with the options on the aisle. They were in discussion on the upgrade options with the little desk they have there (it's a strange airport and the "greeter" actually gives out keys to everything but the aisles.. space is a problem!) It's summer in these tourist destinations. In my experience that tends to mean there are fewer "upgrades" to the SUV or Minivan on the regular aisle. You might still get them and you probably have a better shot on the Executive Aisle, but don't count on it. Book what you can live with :)

I forgot to put our two cents in. We rented from 5/31 to 6/10, arriving at around 8:30 pm. When we arrived I asked the greeter if there were any minivans and he directed me to a Town and Country that was on the minivan aisle. I didn't demand or anything, just asked politely. I believe the greeter's name was Jose and he was super sweet. He directed me away from a Caravan to a Town and Country because "it was nicer" lol.

We arrived on June 14th around noon B side. Aisle well stocked with mid cars, GMC Terrains, a Kia SUV, a Dodge crossover with third row (Journey maybe) and a Ford Flex which my DH loaded before I even finished looking at choices! No minivans in sight.

Did you still pay your Emerald Aisle price? Any issues leaving the garage since it came from the minivan aisle?

Can someone help with a question? I am a Emerald Club member and I am flying into MCO 8/16. Made a reservation for full size car. It lists on the reservation for a Emerald Reserve service. So am I better offer changing my reservation to mid-size and picking up at emerald club full size or better? But if I keep my full size reservation will I have a chance pick a car other then full size in Emerald Reserve or will I have to pick from the full size line only? I want to keep my rate the same if not lower. Thank you.:confused3

Remember that on Emerald Aisle you are ONLY guaranteed "mid size" or better NOT full size. So there's a risk that you could get just a mid size.

If you keep your current reservation you will select from the full size aisle and I have never seen anything else on that aisle. You may not 'Self upgrade' go something bigger on another aisle.

Hi fellow National users,

We picked up on June 23rd. side B & at 1030am.
Lots of choices many full sized and mid sized cars. 200's, 300's, camary, corrolla, no convertibles, but a few suv's. Ford escape, one Suburban > then while we where there they took it off the line. [i didn't want it anyway]. ;)
We took a brand new [3000 miles] nissan rouge. nice small crossover / suv. Was fun to drive.
We are Executive aisle but found this and a few lower mileage cars on regular line.
Had no problems with car or service. There was an attendent who tried to "shoo" us away from executive line. Even after I told her I had executive privilages. She choose to argue with me. :confused3

Good luck and happy hunting! mky :cutie:

This "argue" seems to be a continuing trend at MCO. I have had them try to tell me I can't use the Executive Aisle and one person was INCREDIBLY rude when I asked where the Premium Aisle was basically accusing me of trying to "cheat" the company even though I had reserved a premium.

I think it may be time to start taking names and asking for a manager LOL!

OCC, that is pretty much what happened. The woman was very pushy. She was about to take me by the hand and walk us over to the economy line?? When I finally said NO. Do you want to see my card or reservation info? Or, is there a reason you do not believe that I am on the EA? Finally she backed off, but it was upseting to start our this way.
Kinda, comforting to know, we where not the only ones. thanks.

We picked up yesterday at the B side. I wasn't expecting a lot since we were arriving during such a busy week, but there were a decent number of cars. It was just DH and I, so it didn't matter what we got. The greeter was very nice and directed us to a Ford Edge that she said was really nice. It has about 1500 miles on it but smells like smoke a bit, ewwww. Lots of Nissans and Luminas, no crossovers, SUVs or vans
